I am just recovering from a yeast infection that went nuts .Diflucan did nothing, so MD suggested another dose of it and Monistat, attacking both by blood and topically. It ended as a fungal infection a third of the way down my thighs and almost up to my navel within a day. It ends up I am allergic to something in the Monistat . I have been on 7 days of 200 mg DiFlucan, twice a day and oral steroids. Parts so swollen and flaming it would bring tears to my eyes.Just now able to even wear underwear, all cotton of course, I want to NEVER go through something like this again. The pharmacist suggested probiotics. I went to that aisle and it seems, there isn't just one kind. Different strengths, different strains, etc. Suggestions?

Apple cider vinegar (w/the mother) does wonders. I found lots of info by googling. It really did help. Diflucan did nothing for me either.

I have been using Culturelle for a decade. It has made a huge difference in my overall health. I think it comes in 10, 15 and 20 CFU dosages. I use the 15 but recommend using the 10 to start off. When I first started taking it it upset my stomach for about a week. But once your body gets used to having good bacteria in your gut it will function so much better. I've tried other brands but they just don't work as well for me. I can get Culturelle at Costco for a better price so I buy some whenever I'm there. If not, I get it at Target or Walmart or my grocery store. Good luck!!

I'm taking this, along with an antibiotic, for the c-diff I am experiencing. I'm going to continue to take it, along with a probiotic, after it clears up. It states it helps yeast infections, which is weird because it is a yeast. But it is a different kind. Read up on it. The brand name Florastor is a probiotic and also has this in it. I'm looking into that. SupplementThis is the brand I am taking

I had a severe reaction to a restaurant food that left me able to handle only clear liquids and low residue foods for literally about two months. I was trying to get in to see a gastroenterologist, but there was a lengthy wait for an appointment. My sister suggested that I take a probiotic. My digestive problems cleared up within a few days of starting the probiotic, long before I got in to see the gastroenterologist (who couldn't find anything wrong with me).
The one I used then and still use is from GNC: Ultra 25 Billion CFUs Probiotic Complex Multi Strain.

I was on a bunch of antibiotics over Christmas and my Dr recommend buying the highest number of probiotics I could find (I think its the CFU number). I went with the same one scrapnnana went with. Totally changed my gut health for the better.
