First day for me and I have a headache. I really want to be off the the aspertaine, so I am kicking my diet mt dew to the curb.
How is everyone doing.

I'm mid-week 5. I have not had any headaches or cravings. I do have a tea once or twice a week, usually 1 glass at a time, and every 2-3 weeks, I will have a large Diet Cranberry Limeade from Sonic. YUM! You can do this, I have faith in you, luanne!

Good for you! The first few days were the hardest for me (headaches from caffeine withdrawal). I feel good without it, and I sleep so much better now. Stick with it . . . it's worth how much better you feel after a few days

I havent totally kicked it but I'm down from 60+ oz to one can every day or so. I have been drinking a lot more water and find myself not wanting the soda like I used to. I definatly feel better not drinking it like I used to.

I'm at almost 3 years! About 2 years and 9 mo. I didn't crave it after several weeks. I don't even think about it anymore. About 18 mo in, I was out with friends and accidentally grabbed the wrong drink and took a swig of root beer. OMG! It was freaking disgusting. Way too sweet, way too chemically. Blech. After that I knew I would never go back.

Good for you Luanne. I'm between 0-2 cups a day still. I've done some experimenting with fruited water. It's not for me. When the kids are back in school it will be easier. Keep posting. I'll cheer you on.

5 weeks for me! Love not craving it and feel 100% better than I have in years. I am down 14 pounds! Not just from the soda, but from walking and a little cardio to help. (although I do believe the soda was my biggest problem with weight) Love that I am using a different notch on my belt.
I can't remember who started the whole soda addicts things, but I am so thankful to them for giving me the push I needed to do it!

It's funny that you posted this, since I was wondering about you all last night. I am driving around with a 12 pack of Diet Coke in my trunk that a friend left at my house in June and every time I see them I think of you guys.
Anyway, I posted when you first started (or quit!) wishing you all luck. I gave up sodas a long time ago, but I'm still reading your posts.
Three weeks ago I gave up sugary snacks and desserts. DH and I eat peanut M&M's for an after dinner snack, like 1/2 cup or more each. Since three weeks ago I've limited mine to only 15 and I don't eat any candy or chocolate or cake or cupcakes, etc. during the day. If I do, then I don't get my 15. I haven't quit all sugars, just snacks. But I don't even crave sugar during the day anymore. I pop some blueberries, nuts or carrots instead. It's more important for me to have my 15 in the evening.
ETA: I forgot - I'm down four pounds!

My head is still killing me. My last diet coke was a week ago Tuesday. So I'm on day 8. This headache better go away soon, I can't take it much longer!!

I'm doing great! I've gone from drinking ONLY diet coke (6+ cans a day) to drinking TONS of water (with a sprinkle of Crystal Light) and I've averaged 1 diet coke a week since July 16, only when we've been at a restaurant. I refuse to buy it by the case ever again or even buy it at all to have at home. This is AMAZING considering my level of addiction/habit. I don't miss it much.

Shanni, don't give up! It will go away. If it is that bad, try an Excedrin. They contain caffeine. It just might help until you are past the caffeine withdrawal. Feel better!

Good job everybody! Stick with it, as another poster said, the cravings and headaches go away and you feel better. I gave up soda at the beginning of the year. I drink water now. Maybe once a month I will have a soda if I go see a movie - cause popcorn is not as good with water - but that's about it.
