I am a single female who has bought an rv with the intention of traveling in the U S with my two dogs, tonight I am camping out in my driveway to try it out... With my two pups and a bottle of wine! Having a great time, so far!! Can't wait to go to an actual campground, although I am not looking forward to dumping black water!!!!

I've always wanted to travel the country in an RV and, quite honestly, alone. LOL. DH is not into helping with the setup and take down chores and I'm not into doing everything by myself when there's two of us enjoying the trip. Please consider keeping a blog of some sort and sharing your adventures with those of us who are stuck at home. Marcy

I second the blog / photos idea, please, so we can live vicariously through your adventures!

although I am not looking forward to dumping black water So much adventure awaits. As for the black water - my dad would only use the RV facilities when he was somewhere isolated. When he was in a campground he used their facilities and showers. Made that job happen less often. Just a thought. ETA: July 8, 2014 shows up when I use the Quick Quote. WTH

You are going to have a great time!! Dumping isn't that bad But we also use the facilities we are at unless it's early or late, or we don't want to get wet, or wake the dogs, or . . . Last yr I took our RV out more then the family did, so this yr I'm trying to cut back on my dog shows. Dh is getting the itch to go out more, yay! We do a lot of 3-4 day weekends since we both still work full time.

We are all envious. I can see how you may not want to put pictures of the RV on the internet, but we would be delighted to see a small glimpse of the inside. Enjoy.

Would that mean I could do my own laundry, cooking and cleaning and shopping? I think I need an RV. I don't want a house any longer I want an RV!!! I also need a dog. I don't need a big one but one who can sleep beside me in bed and be my shadow. I think that is a win-win all around!!!!

On our cross country road trip last year we kept seeing/catching up with a lady who was pulling a small canned ham camper. She had the map of the United States on the back with the states she had visited colored in like you see on many motorhomes. She had cute blue gingham curtains in the little windows and I had visions of the inside of it being adorable. As stalkerish as it sounds, I had hoped that we would end up at the same rest area or town at one point just so I could tell her how cute her camper looked and how awesome I thought it was she travels around the country eta: To the OP, I hope your driveway night went well! Please consider a journal or blog of your journey, it sounds awesome!

Since you mentioned your dogs but I can't remember what breeds they are, there are a couple of different RVing/camping with pet Facebook groups I'm in at least two of them. One of them is about campgrounds with breed restrictions, which is helpful for us since we have the German Shepherd Dog. I think my other main one is camping with pets. I'm also in a couple local groups, PNW and Washington state camping I'm really excited for you and all your new adventures. A couple of years ago I met a lady that RVed herself. She seemed to really enjoy herself and all her freedoms

You had me at WINE....
I'm seriously jealous right now. Of the wine and the travel. I think I would love to travel like this and really wish I had done it a few years ago before I met my soon-to-be dh. I don't regret meeting him at all but I wish I had taken some time to travel like this. Please keep a travel and wine journal for us!!!

Congratulations on your new home! When I was married, we had a nice motorhome and used it almost every weekend throughout the summer months. There is a group of women who all have cute little vintage trailers and they have regular get togethers at various campgrounds around the states. I can't remember what they called themselves, but they had a website with lots of photos of their adventures and a calendar of upcoming trips. I think they got started doing this because their mother used to take them camping a lot. The sisters started this group and it has grown from there if I am not mixing two websites together. They welcomed any woman and trailer to join their adventures. I think that would be a blast, and would make the first few outings less stressful on me if I knew I was going to join up with a big group of women who all get together and have wine and chats around the fire at night. I will try to remember what they called themselves just in case you are ever interested in joining up with them on a few of their trips. I know I definitely will if I ever get a trailer. **I found it. It is called Sisters on the Fly and they are now a network of over 7,000 women. They don't allow men or children on these adventures, just women. They are in the US, Canada, Australia, and France. I took a quick look at their calendar and they sure have a lot going on. Sisters on the Fly
I just found a section of trailers for sale on the Sister's site. There are so many cute little trailers on there. Here is that link so those of you who want to pretend we are in the market for an adorable little trailer can go drool over there. They don't seem to show prices on the main page, you have to click on the button that says "contact" or "information" to read more about each trailer and see the price and terms. There is a gorgeous Airstream that was custom made for someone back in the 50s. I have always had a thing for Airstream trailers. My neighbors have an adorable tiny little one that they named Bambi. oh, Lexica- thank you for finding that! I think I surfed across the Sisters on the Fly group once a long time ago, and then lost it again! I think their group is when I first started lusting after a shabby chic canned ham trailer! And the thought of attending one of their get-togethers!
