This is from an email I received from CSPI - Center for Science in the Public Interest. They produce the Nutrition Action Health Letter which I have subscribed to for 30 years? (about).
"At Trump’s balmy Mar-a-Lago resort, inspectors found beef and chicken being held at dangerous temperatures that can spur growth of E. coli, Salmonella, and other deadly pathogens! And rusty shelving in walk-in coolers. And fish—meant to be served raw or uncooked—vulnerable to parasitic contamination.
It’s no wonder Trump’s campaign accused the “FDA food police” of “inspection overkill”!
Trump’s budget threatens to slash funding for the inspections that keep our produce and packaged-foods free of pathogens. And with the extremist House Freedom Caucus putting food safety programs on its regulatory “kill list” there’s no guarantee that Congress will stand up to Trump."
This supports my belief that Trump puts Profits and business before people.

Hundreds of food establishments across the country are cited for the same reasons and more. So long as the violations are addressed I don't see the big deal.
Many places I've lived in publish the inspection reports. I see the same places cited time and again yet the place stays open.

Hundreds of food establishments in the country don't charge $200,000 just as the initiation fee, let alone the annual dues - just for the privilege of sub-par food handling.

Many places I've lived in publish the inspection reports. I see the same places cited time and again yet the place stays open. The reason why this makes headlines is because of the owner. If the same violations were found while Trump was still a private citizen, it probably would only be a minor headline in the local news. Same when other celebrity restaurants fail, get shut down, etc. A popular restaurant had numerous violations and shut down for a month. Only the local news covered it. However, if it had been owned by our governor who has been in national news for the Flint water crisis, you bet it'd be national news. Given the long list of negative press, every other negative thing is going to be covered. Given that he's there every weekend practically and have hosted other head of states there, the kitchen needs to be top of the line and have zero violations. Could you imagine the fall out after a visiting diplomat falling ill due to food poisoning from that place?

I think her point isn't that Trump's place was cited, but that Trump may have safe food regulation on the chopping block. This concerns me, too. People used to get sick or die routinely from contaminated food supplies, and it still happens (less often, but still). We need more oversight, not less.
