$19.99 for a 4x6 stamp set + cancellation policy + SC = Good Luck Ali, but I'm spending my money elsewhere. This.

No thanks. I'm never paying anyone to cancel a sub. I would rather pay a little more for what I know I want than pay less for what I may not want.

I like a lot of Ali's stamps. There are some, however, that look like chicken scratch to me. I just DON'T UNDERSTAND why details and images aren't released a head of time. Let the consumer decide what they want instead of trying to lure them in (with no information and the most abstract descriptions) then trap them if they don't like the product. I think that people would commit to that absurd cancellation policy if they knew what they were getting. I don't understand the business model. Also, the people who do want it cannot get it because it's sold out, creating the re-selling issue. It frustrates everyone. Imagine if those who wanted the product could it in a timely fashion and use it, post their creations, have folks look at the creation and say, "wow, I want that, too." That's how you create the demand and keep people feeling positive about your product, imo. I also don't understand the business model....buy this (with crazy cancellation policy) sight unseen?! NO! The minute a couple of month's stamps aren't liked, people will be complaining that they purchased an entire year of stamps, unseen, and now are getting products they don't want...which brings on bad press. makes no sense to me at all

I was interested until I saw the price (which I thought was too high). What made me run from the offer was the cancellation policy. No thanks!!

I like Ali and her approach to memory keeping but I'm not biting. I have a few of her stamp sets and they're pretty repetitive, mostly her handwriting . That's a lot of money for a 4x6 stamp set and she's great, don't get me wrong, but not THAT great .

Would you buy a book with only the dimensions of the book and a vague idea that the book's setting was during summertime? Heck no. You want to at least read the back cover blurb. You want to see the front cover's artwork. Why is it okay to demand that stampers & scrappers buy sight unseen? I adore Ali and her style of memory keeping, I really do...but this subscription thing of hers is really disappointing. That cancellation fee is ridiculous...seriously...why?? Why that kind of cancellation policy? I would totally pay $19.99 a month for her stamp but to commit to a whole year? That's a long time. The fact that SC is behind the scenes is disappointing too. I don't trust them. Doesn't Ali know how so many scrapbookers feel about them? We all know she read the 2peas message boards and surely she saw all the bad SC posts..... So, do we think that her stamp sub and her other kit sub will be run the way SC runs their kit club? Create a frenzy, create a huge demand and never have enough product? I want to help support Ali and I also wish her the best but I have so many reservations...

I am tempted. I really like a lot of the AE stamps, but wasn't liking the more recent ones in the TT club. So, probably will pass. I may well be sorry when I see a picture of a set that i love!

I am glad I posted here...reason took hold before I was tempted to sign up is exactly true. If I truly love 4 stamp sets of the year, that is $100, even paying the full (and HIGH) price. That still saves me $140 compared to a full year sub!!! And no "threats" of cancellation, which, yeah, I've decided I'll NEVER sign up for!

I think the price and commitment are too high for something sight unseen, and the cancellation policy is just absurd. There are too many other great products out there to buy that don't have so many strings attached. I'd pass.

It's hard to commit to this not knowing what the stamps will consist of because I really don't need any more stamps, I don't need another set of calendar stamps, number stamps or circle stamps. I don't need more repetitive one or two word slogans about feeling brave, hopeful, happy, or anything in the line of all those PL cards I have so many of. I am concerned that I would be locked into the subscription by the cancellation policy and find that her designs contain nothing fresh and new, just more of the same, rehashed.

No. Way. $24.99 for 4x6 inches of stamps that will probably look like all of her other stamps (because they do look the same to me). I want my "story" to look like my story - not AE's.
I am a great fan of subscription boxes - for instance, I get the Pop Sugar Must Have box. You don't know what you are going to get month to month, but one thing you do know - the items will have a good value versus cost of box. I always price it out on Amazon and my box is routinely $125-plus for the monthly fee of 39.95. I also love SBR kit clubs - but again, I'm going to be about the value, not the "limited" fervor. I'm down to just getting the scrapbook.com monthly kit because you get a great value - this month it was $54 worth of stuff for $29.99. With products like Technique Tuesday stamps now showing up in my discount craft store, I am just not willing to pay for the whole exclusive thing. Ten to one I'm either going to get my hands on it some other way a whole lot cheaper or someone else is making the same exact thing or a reasonable facsimile.
And, can I say, I'm really over scrapbooking designers acting like they invented scrapbooking. Telling your story isn't anything new, right? LOL Oh, but you change "telling" to "crafting" and all of the sudden you can charge 24.99 for a couple of inches of stamps. I don't mind some innovation, mind you, but it just comes off odd to me.

Exclusive isn't a selling factor for me, there is so much product out there that sooner or later someone else will make something that looks very similar. Look at all the typewriters, cameras, etc. They all look so much alike that it's hard to tell who made it and if it is exclusive. Even the script fonts are beginning to look the same.

$19.99 for a 4x6 stamp set + cancellation policy + SC = Good Luck Ali, but I'm spending my money elsewhere. Exactly! Those stamps need to be made of gold for me to spend $19.95 and risk being subjected to SC's less than stellar customer service.

Ali Edwards made a post on the Paperclipping forums that made it sound like each month, will basically be a 4x6 stamp set and a mini class including Videos and PDFs on using the stamp of the month to tell a story, in which case, I could justify the cost.
I'm not quite yet able to subscribe sight unseen though, I'm not a stamper, I do this as an artistic outlet, not for the storytelling and I'm a SC subscriber so I am already getting a stamp every month, so unless the stamp is something that would truly help me tell a story I feel is worth telling, I have to pass.

The video was convincing, but I wish it had been one camera angle instead of klutzy two. Not that it matters!
Mikki, maybe the videos, PDF and message board justify the class. I like the idea they're story "starters".
Without seeing any I can not join, TT stamps looked too similar after a while. That's too much money to commit. I think she'd have been wise to show samples and offer first 100 subscription a special New Start 2014 stamp or something. You really have to be a fan to commit $250 sight unseen.
I wish her well.

There's a lot of same-ness in stamping for me. I like Ali a lot and think she's a fantastic designer, but I'm tired of her handwriting and fear there's going to be a lot of that in the sub. I'd purchase some of the stamps if I liked them, but not sight unseen.

I've read a lot of comments about subscribing to something "sight unseen", but how does this differ for you than a scrapbook kit sub? We don't usually get a full six months or year preview of kits.
Is it because of the cost of the stamps?
I really am curious, I'm truly not hand slapping or being snarky.

Is it because of the cost of the stamps? I really am curious, I'm truly not hand slapping or being snarky. I would say because with a page kit club you make the layouts once with the stuff you get, put them in an album and call it good. You won't ever get that same collection of stuff again. A stamp is made to be used over and over and over again. At what point will it get old to stamp "BEST DAY EVER!" "love THIS!" or whatever once-hot-but-now-tired cliche on my pages repeatedly? It's just the nature of the product. There aren't too many stamps (other than maybe alphabets and number sets) that can be used repeatedly in a scrapbook without looking pretty much exactly the same, every time. Now when you consider that you can go to a LSS or box store with a coupon (or when the stamps are on sale) and get a comparable decent sized clear stamp set for 30-40-50% off retail just about any day of the week without paying shipping, plus you can pick exactly what you like with no commitment to buy another thing ever, and it just makes the price way too high even with the added benefit of the online stuff.

I signed up for a six-month subscription. That's $22 a month and it includes shipping. I figure I would give it three months. I think that's fair. If I'm unhappy at that point, then I'll pay the $33 to cancel the subscription. However, I just have a feeling I'm going to love it. I'm not really a stamper but I want to be. And my favorite stamps are text, which is what hers are going to be. She said there would be few, if any, images. I also really like her style. I always have. I'm looking forward to seeing what the Story Kit looks like, too.
Also, I know that the association with Studio Calico is a turnoff for some but I have had a subscription for over two years and I've never had a problem.

I get 20+ items in a monthly kit, including papers, embellies, stamps, etc. I'm sure to like at least a portion of those. I will pay for someone to coordinate and source and secure a number of different items for me from a variety of manufacturers. This is the value that a kit club provides to me. With a stamp sub there's only one item, and stamping tends to repeat. I do trust Ali as a designer, but as I would be annoyed if I received one product and didn't like it for $20. If I'm buying a single item I want to see it first.

Wow, that cancellation policy is insane! Has SC not learned it's lesson yet?! They have such a bad reputation for the stuff they pull when you try to cancel. And now they are going to charge you HALF of the kit price PLUS a fee?!! It's almost like a bullying tactic if you ask me. If you have confidence in your products and your ability to handle customer service issues is top notch, then there should not be such a harsh cancellation fee. It's such a shame because I really love Ali and her designs. Bullying? Really??? Being on a subscription is much different than buying an I stock item . The point of having subscribers is to gage the need ahead of time in order to an and produce a quantity that will supply demand/want instead of running out and not being able to run more. Ali has been around creating stamps for some time, very popular too, and instead of being excited for that aspect it seems that people are more focused on a cancellation policy that they may not end up using anyway! I get that you need to consider the "contract" when making the choice, so try a shorter sub if you are leery. I believe Ali is basing the long term commitment to a sub on her already tried and true designs--she is not new to this, had been around a long time, has designs that stand the test if time and that have always been one of a kind and not copies of others or that just are rip offs of royalty free clip art !

Now that I've made peace with my anger I'm still agonizing. I've been an Ali Edwards follower for years, I even have some of the older books that she wrote and anytime Technique Tuesday had classes based on her layouts at CKC I was there.
As much as I hate the company that shall not be named, I'm thisclose to selling out and subscribing.

No. It's overpriced. And I don't do purchasing sight-unseen. Ever. If you can't show me what I'm getting, too bad. I don't need stamps that bad.
The mentality of "because everyone else is doing it" doesn't work on me.

So I'm coming here with my tail between my legs. I ordered the first stamp set. After I saw the peek of the set I just had to give it a shot. I love Ali. I've loved her and her scrapbooking ways for over a decade now. I'm still very hesitant to subscribe since she's attached to SC but I gambled this time to see how it would go. And I Love it!! She has 2 videos with the sub. One where she explains her thought process for using the stamps and then a process video. I love her. I love listening to her, I love her philosophy, I love her techniques, I love her laid back way about scrapbooking. I am SO glad I tried it out for a month. I'm now considering a 6 month sub. Really. There is no SC feel whatsoever to her stamp club. It's all Ali. There is not one thing that reminds me that she is affiliated with SC. And it's great. So I'm saying this because if you were on the fence, or are not an SC fan, or just love Ali and are wondering what it's all about...DO it. Sign up. Just try out one month to see if it's for you. You will be supporting Ali Edwards, a phenomenal woman and a very talented scrapbooker. So yes, I definitely changed my mind and so glad that I did.

I totally sold out. Here I am shouting from the rooftops how I detest SC, but then I turned right around and subscribed because I love Ali so much. I'm thrilled that I did. The content alone makes the price worth it. Watching one of the videos today has me so excited to actually get the stamp and play with it.
I subscribed for six months. I wasn't at all scared off by the cancellation policy; the SC affiliation was my only deterrent. Watching the video and just the overall Ali (non SC) vibe is enough to keep me happy with my choice.

I subscribed to Ali Edwards stamp set and when I went into the classroom this morning, I never imagined there would be 2 30+ minute videos and an 8 page handout + bonus content. I have only watched the intro video and I already have a post-it filled front and back with inspired thoughts and since my stamps won't be here for a couple of day, I was even inspired to create a layout that where no stamping was needed at all, just a story I wanted to tell, brought about thanks to the video.
Yes, the cancellation policy is extreme, but honestly there is nothing Studio Calico about it; Ali Edwards is utilizing Studio Calico's talents for good web design and manufacturing and while the cancellation policy seems harsh, considering where she stands with her business, I can't blame her.

I just watched the first intro video and I'm so glad I did! I took her "Hello Story" class at BPC this spring and it really did inspire and help me write better stories abput my family. This stamp set combined with her "class" and support is well worth my money because I know I'll really use it.
