That's like Firefox, if you get fraudulent email and click on the link, Firefox gives you a popup and tells you to enter at your own risk. I usually never click the link in my email, however a couple of times I did just to see and always got the warning.

That's funny! I'm not sure it's entirely controlled by the caller, our company's caller ID switches whenever we change Long Distance carriers, and we've had to go to them in the past because they've had us listed strangely and no one would answer our calls.

I got one of those calls a few months back. A tech friend of mine said the same thing ~ when he gets one he acts dumb and plays along which he knows infuriates them because they think they've got him. But the caller ID thing is hilarious.

DS says the guy said to him, "Wow, you're really excited about this, aren't you?" LOL (His response was, "Yes, because you're creating lots of work for me." And then he hung up.)

We got a phone call on the house phone this morning. I don't answer the phone if I don't know who's calling, because we get so many telemarketing calls, but my son decided to answer for reasons I will reveal momentarily. It was one of those scam calls from India where they said they were calling from Microsoft because our computer has a virus and they want to help us get rid of it. DS does tech support himself, and he strung the guy along for a few minutes till he got bored and hung up. But the funny thing is why he answered in the first place. It was the caller ID that roped him in. He just couldn't resist answering.
The caller ID (which you know is controlled by the caller) said Fraudulent Call. That is funny! We didn't have caller when I got the Microsoft scam call (we have Macs), my husband got mad at me because I didn't give him an opportunity to mess with them.

Oh that is too funny! I wonder if it's the phone company that has fraudulent call attached to their number.

Yes.... I got one recently.... Asked all kinds of questions.... And then said... I just don't understand ... I haven't had a PC in over a year and yet you are saying that you have received information about a recent virus? He wasn't happy with me!!

Ugh! My FIL came *this close* to giving those guys money. I couldn't believe it. This is an engineer with a masters degree. He said they sounded legit but right before he gave his cc number they said something that tipped him off. They called me last week; I told them they're scammers and hung up. It's pathetic that people do this.

We get those calls in spurts on our cell phones. One day may son got one and made up a story about stealing internet from the neighbor. They actually asked him for the neighbors number.

I got a call yesterday and the caller ID said "Neighbor". They only left a little bit of a message but it was definitely a business advertisement call. I had another one that said "Local call" but the area code was not in our area. No message left.

I got the Microsoft one recently and kept asking them to repeat because I didn't understand what they were saying. Then I got frustrated with them and said we no longer had that computer. Then I hung up!

This happened to me a couple of years ago. We don't use Microsoft products, we use Linux. So I knew right off the bat it was a scam. I let him drone on for a few minutes, then told him what I thought of him. He hung up on me.
I emailed Microsoft and they told me they never, ever contact customers. If you want support, you have to contact them. I made sure my parents and older relatives knew that, because they are exactly the kind of people these scammers want to talk to - people who will take your word for it.

I made sure my parents and older relatives knew that, because they are exactly the kind of people these scammers want to talk to - people who will take your word for it. Good for you, keep spreading the word. I've received more of these calls than I can count. I'm a reasonably patient person, and I usually get rid of unwanted phone calls by telling them politely I'm not interested and then immediately hang up. But these jerks ... they've called so many times I've lost patience. I'll bang the receiver against the nearest surface and then hang up. Unlucky for me, the nearest surface isn't usually something I can bang very hard, but I do my best. With normal phone solicitors I realize people are just trying to make a living, that's why I won't be rude with them. But these people know they are thieves, so I don't feel any compunction about my actions. ETA: Lucy, that called ID is priceless. Love it!

I had a call a few weeks back where the caller ID said scam caller. Didn't answer that one. lol I already knew about the windows calls before I ever got one. When I got one I pretended I was really old and didn't understand what they were talking about: Windows? Whats wrong with my windows? I'm looking out one now. Seems fine to me. Oh, your talking about something to do with a computer. Sorry, young man I've never owned one of those. He hung up on me.

But these jerks ... they've called so many times I've lost patience. Me too! arggh!!!!!!! They have easily called my house over 10 times in the past 12 months or so. You would think they would get a clue, I have politely asked them to cease calling, I have yelled and screamed at them, I have strung them along only to cut them off. They are REALLY persistent. We have done the do not call thing, still they call. I this close to blowing a whistle VERY loudly in his ear! One day they called 3 times!! talk about blood pressure rising! I was SO mad. I think the fact that a yelled at them, gave them entertainment. My husband is a computer geek and works for a very big computer firm, even he can't get them to stop. SMH
