It feels a little bit silly, but I haven't had a new fridge in 15 years and my dishwasher came with the house 11 years ago. We are updating the entire first floor, new paint, reupholstering furniture, a new tile back splash and new appliances. We are just taking it slow over the summer, and we are still looking for the stove, so it's a little bit mismatched for now, but we are getting started on the tile tomorrow and I'm thrilled!
I was pretty bummed that I had to work an internship this summer and so vacation plans went out the window, but this has been a long time coming and my husband is usually not into home DIY stuff has been awesome helping me out.
Anyone else doing major changes in your house right now? Yard? Patio? I will share pics later. But if you have some now I would love to see what you are working on.

Glad you finally got some new stuff!
Our microwave is wigging out. It has the exhaust fan built it and we have to keep it unplugged because if turns on, but doesn't shut off. We also would love to repaint our dining room. Just not sure when we will have time.

We also would love to repaint our dining room. Just not sure when we will have time. The time is what kills us too. I have been lucky in that a lot of my job this summer has been from home, so it's been really nice. I also have a month off longer than my kids from school, so even better. I am hoping to add some details to the house that I have been pinning for 2-3 years now. Finally some time to implement them!

I am jealous!! I've been wanting, but not needing, a new fridge for a few years. I have a pretty badic model and I'm tired of bending low for the fridge contents.

Honestly, getting a new fridge would be a dream come true but we need a new stove too. Stupid thing doesn't work properly anymore. So YAY YOU!!! I hope you got the perfect one for you. My dream fridge has an ice maker and filtered water dispenser. Love those features. Ours has one but it doesn't work with sh!t. It's always breaking. But the water that comes out is darn good!
Happy day for you!!!

oh yea! I totally get where you're coming from. My old fridge was over 25 years old and had long worn out it's welcome. I adore my new one. We got it in February and I still stop and stare at it in wonder. It's so pretty. I just need a new stove and all my appliances will match. Well they won't all be the same line or even brand, but they will all have the same finish. New appliances are such a great pick me up for a kitchen.

Our washing machine died earlier this year and what I felt on replacing it was relief more than anything else, but I know how you feel, OP, because we have a new mattress on the way and I am insanely excited about that!

You are not alone with your appliance excitement! I love appliance shopping. We have had to replace our microwave, dishwasher and dryer within the past year. The stove and refrigerator are slowly dying as well. All our appliances are the same age (approx 16 years old) and seem to be leaving us in groups. I have my eye on a pretty refrigerator-boy you can spend a small fortune on one!

I'm another one who finally after 10 years replaced the cheap contractor appliances that came with the house. We had purchased a freezer on the bottom french door LG refrigerator three years ago, but really needed to replace our stove, microwave and dishwasher. Through DH's employer we were able to buy a really nice set of GE Profile series direct from GE and we switched our electric flat top range/oven out for a 5 burner gas/convection range/oven. We're really happy with them.

Lucky you! I would love new kitchen appliances. Mine are old, old, old, old! But they are still working so I guess we'll keep using them until they don't.

We remodeled our kitchen last year and replaced our old appliances. The biggest difference I noticed with updated appliances was our new drop in range. Everything heated up sooooo much quicker. So nice not having to wait forever for water to boil.

Getting new kitchen appliances is pretty exciting to me. I had a blast picking them out for my house when I built 2 years ago. I don't think it's silly at all! You're right to take your time picking them out, you're going to use them almost every day.

That's so awesome! You know we are 'grown up' when we get excited about things like that LOL...I popped a tire on my brand new car (clipped a curb just right, apparently) and had to ride around with the spare for a week (the tires that came on the car are freaking EXPENSIVE!) - I was so excited to get a new tire LOL....

Got my stove over a year ago but it still feels new, I love it! It's a black Frigidare with a simmer burner and I especially love the quick boil burner. I went without a working oven for 2 years and I can't even remember when I last had an oven light!
My Kenmore refrigerator is probably at least 15 years old, but it still works great. I bought my GE microwave in 1985 and that thing STILL works.
Congrats on your new appliances!

Love getting new appliances. I really want a new stove but just can't justify it as the old one is still "working". Just like new and fancy.

Sometimes it's the little things.
I love getting new appliances too. When you first get them you don't even mind doing the laundry, loading the dishwasher, cooking dinner. But then it wears off.
CONGRATS on your new appliances!

Congrats! I'll be getting a new fridge, too, as soon as I decide which one to buy. I want a counter depth but haven't decided on the model. Planning on going out with DH when he returns from out of town. I love remodeling/decorating projects around the house-just wish I had the money to do everything I want to do!

We are in the process of big changes at the moment.
i just had our kitchen and bath cabinets all refaced from that 80's golden oak to bright white with brushed nickel pulls, next up is new flooring throughout (choosing it on Wednesday) then having a painter come through to repaint the whole main floor (including the oak trim).
Nothings been done in our house for over 10 years, so this is very exciting for us!

That's awesome! Can't wait to see your posted pictures. We are doing some less extensive updates this summer - finally painting and hanging curtains in my office, and painting the girls' bathroom. Both are still the same boring builder beige as when we moved in six years ago!

We had to replace our refrigerator last month. Ours came with the house and it literally blended in with the woodwork. It was built into the cabinetry and had a matching wood front. Newcomers would ask where the fridge was! But we were happy to have a new one. The water and ice dispenser on the old one never worked for us. So that's been fun! But you know what, there isn't as much room inside! They are the same size but have a different configuration. So it's taking some getting used to. A little funny - we had company this week. I was getting drinks and asked their 16 yo boy: Do you want your ice cubed or crushed? "Yes please." Do you want both? "You can do that?!?!?!"

Congrats!
No new appliances, but we just finished installing a new front door & living room window. Upgraded our electric and are now waiting to repaint the room. Same color (BM Begonia), but getting a pro to correct all the tiny mistakes my husband made 10 years ago when he did it.
Next on our agenda is new kitchen cabinets. The original pine needs to go. We're going white beadboard. I'm getting more & bigger ones, so I'm very excited!!

I found the same thing with the new fridge we bought last year. Same size cubic feet but with the freezer on the bottom, I know for a fact there is less room in my fridge.
I still haven't figured out the best layout for stuff to maximize the space.

Getting new appliances is an exciting event, for sure. My dream is to someday get a dishwasher that is so quiet,I will have to put my ear on it to hear anything. My dishwasher now sounds like a a 747 taking off!

Getting new appliances is an exciting event, for sure. My dream is to someday get a dishwasher that is so quiet,I will have to put my ear on it to hear anything. My dishwasher now sounds like a a 747 taking off! JamH Our dishwasher is an LG that is only 44db, it is so insanely quiet compared to the other one. My son opened it when it was running and was very confused to find wet dishes! The fridge is also an LG, with the french doors on top and the freezer on the bottom. Compared to my old side by side the room in there is amazing! Here are the links to the two we bought. LG fridge and LG Dishwasher The fridge is highly rated every where we looked, and the working ice and water is so great, our ice maker never worked right from about the 2nd year of our old fridge, so it's been a brita and ice cube trays forever! I am loving that feature. Plus its in the door and not taking up a full shelf in the freezer or fridge. The ratings on the dishwasher at the site I linked weren't good, but other places (independent ratings rather than just consumers) rated it highly and we got a screaming deal so I'm happy with it. So far it works great. But again, what I have to compare it too...

We did that two years ago and I still refer to them as my "new" appliances. I loved shopping for what I wanted, rather than what came with the house.

Jealous!!!! 9 months ago we bought what we now call "the Money Pit" since we moved in the stove died, the air went out(so far that was an easy fix but we think next year it will be replaced), our sepic drain field failed and now the fridge is leaking. A new fridge is on my list if we can muddle though summer with the air not dying totally. The dish washer will be replaced when we gut the kitchen and redo it all but at least by then the stove and fridge will be newish and we won't have that expense too.
