When it was first marketed, Inka Gold was touted to be the perfect medium to gild the edges or the whole surface of any item in your stash. You could just reach in your forefinger and smooth it onto cb shapes, edges of cs matts, thickers, whatever... I bought the original gold colour, and I loved it: used it a lot! Then I picked up some other colours, but have not found them quite as useful. Then the videos started to warn that we should NOT be using our fingers in those little pots. We should use cosmetic sponges, because the Inka gold was made with bees' wax, it could get contaminated from our hands. I thought that since I had already had my fingers into the pots, the damage had already been done, so there was no use worrying about it. Also, I kind of moved on to other media, and hadn't used the stuff for awhile. Until yesterday. I went to put a little gold on the edges of my Mothers' Day cards, opened the gold pot, and... the surface was covered in mould!!! I quickly threw it away and got on with Plan B. Didn't check any of the 3 other colours I have. But this morning I woke up thinking: what if the Inka Gold has moulded on my projects? Pages. Canvases. Photo frames. Do I need to check??? Have any of you found any of your Inka Gold contaminated? Have you noticed it deteriorated on your projects?

I have never heard of it, but yuk! That was an unpleasant surprise. Ditto. Sorry that you are dealing with that. I don't think I could resist checking everything. I hope your projects are okay.

Happened to most of my Inca Golds, too. None of my projects are mouldy (Yet!), but I'm not spending any more money on those. I have heard it is a common problem with them.

Ew I hope your projects are okay. Mold needs moisture in order to grow. I would think that as long as your projects have enough air circulating around them, they should be okay. I have beeswax candles that are old but in decent condition. But anything behind a plastic page protector might be at risk. I'm sorry.

I checked the other colours, and they are ok in the jars. They are really pretty but now I just want to pitch them too.
I have been through most of my albums looking for pages about my soon to graduate dgs, and I didn't see anything disgusting there. I suspect that the pages are okay in the page protectors because I let them dry thoroughly before storing them there.
I am thinking the frames and the canvases I used the Inka Gold on either have lots of air around them, or are sealed off with mod podge, so I am going to assume they lack prime conditions for fungal growth. They were gifts, so not in my line of sight at the moment. Last time I saw them, I didn't notice anything.

I'm sure you are right about the projects themselves being in good condition because they do have good air flow around them. I wouldn't worry about them. Not gonna lie, I would toss the other pots of stuff. It would be a constant nagging in the back of my mind, wondering if they were going to be a mess for me to find later.
