Yesterday was my lucky day.
I stopped into one thrift store, hoping to find some books. They sell them "Fill a Bag/$2"
For $2 I bought: 23 scrapbook magazines (Creating Keepsakes, PaperCraft, and some stamping magazine, and two or three card making magazines from the UK); & 6 scrapbooking books.
Then later I stopped in a Salvation Army to kill time, and on the shelf with mugs and knick knacks was a plastic clamshell with 13 wood mounted rubber stamps. Stampin' Up!, Hero Arts, & D.O.T.S. brands. I paid a whopping 69 cents!
I felt like I just robbed the place.
Ever find scrapbook stuff in thrift stores?

Congrats on the awesome find, you did really well with that one. I have only ever managed to find the odd old bits and pieces like sticker sheets and foam stamps but I did manage to find a big wooden floral stamp and a roll of about ten older olive/khaki green type papers that were all making memories and chatterbox so I scratched that one up as a win. A friend of mine recently scored a few almost full boxes of Project Life cards for only a few dollars. I think the stores around us get picked over pretty heavily by the ladies that volunteer. I have bad much better luck at garage sales and online sales such as e-bay and facebook marketplace.

I did just recently. I found 8 See-D's Cling stamp sets at Goodwill. It was $5 for all.
It was a total crapshoot that I decided to buy them. They were all in a holder and the entire thing was taped together so you could only see one side of two of them.
It's very rare to find any stamping stuff around here and when you do, it's usually priced sky high.
Enjoy your finds.

I often find scrapbooking stuff: metal dies, stamps, paper punches, ink pads, paper, class kits, you name it. That' how I got introduced to Distress Inks and paints - someone had donated a bunch of brand new ones still shrink wrapped so I took a chance.
There are two Goodwills I shop at that get a lot of Stampin Up stuff.
A couple of months ago someone must have donated their entire collection because there were several big bins filled with wood mounted stamps - hundreds of them. Goodwill had stuffed them into gallon sized bags for $9, but of course they mixed up sets and themes so I didn't buy much.
My favorite find is Stampin Up and other photo polymer sets and thin metal cutting dies in plastic packaging because they price those at $1.69 or lower! Strangely enough, wood mounted sets from CTMH and Stampin up get priced at about $3.65.
My SO found a brand new BigShot (out of the box) for $4.19 - we're guessing they didn't know what it was. That same store had about 100 of the original Sizzix plastic dies on the shelves. They priced them all at about $2 which was a great deal for the big red ones, but a total rip-off for the blue alphabet letters.

I look here and there but don't have the patience for it...I feel like if I went in on my first attempt and found a good deal of stuff or enough to get excited about it, then I might try harder. But if I go in hoping to find good things and come up empty handed the first time around, I give up. This is also why I just gave up and paid more for a typewriter on CL than waiting to hope for a steal at a thrift store.
I was the same with Dollar Tree. I'd see people talk about amazing things they've found only to learn the shelves were cleared and nothing was left. But one day last year (the day after Easter), I went in and found all of their amazing organizational items on bonus buy (items with higher counts of the item for the same price) and it had JUST been stocked. I was in HEAVEN. Since then, I keep track of things from DT and go frequently (albeit not as frequently as I initially had been going). That first rush of finally finding things made me keep trying.

I occasionally find things like sequins or buttons at mine. Best thing I ever found was a Dymo label maker with 8 rolls of tape for 1.50.

I found one thing, one of the photo organizer boxes.. the blue one.. one side for your pictures (4x6 or smaller) and the other side is only like 1/2 inch thick so you can lay down your bigger pictures. The handle was broken but I just tied some heavy duty string and it works just great. I think originally they go for about $30.. I got it for 4.99

Yes, I've gotten the following over the last several years at thrift stores. I left the thread open and came back and added to it as I remembered more stuff. OttLite Craft Caddy for $8. I almost passed it by because it was closed up and just a round "thing". I saw the word Ottlite on it and started investigating. I wound up getting 3 more Ottlite lamps including the fuchsia one for my nightstand. Package of brand new Doodlebug ribbons A stamping kit with color pencils, clear stamps and cardstock Paper Studio monogram stamps Numerous rubber stamps at different times including Stampin Up stamps. A couple of brand new Colorbox ink pads Bunch of Stampin Up older ink pads Sizzlit soccer ball die 2 inch stack of 11x17 orange cardstock. I use it for cards AND it is good for testing something out. I recently started making popup box cards and used it to make samples of the 3 sizes I'm doing, complete with measurements on the creases and cut lines. Set of brand new turquoise card blanks and envelopes set of envelopes, had both red and green envelopes Two packages of mini glitter shapes Several times, I've gotten many sequins ziplock of large coffee filters for catching heat embossing powder. DH uses tiny coffee filters so this was great! Kerig turn table that I use for heat embossing powder bottles Exacto guillotine paper cutter Carl rotary paper cutter for my DH so he'll leave my Dahle trimmer alone! Quite a few times, I've found many card making and scrapbooking books occasionally I find some color cardstock and patterned paper And last but not least, I got a barely used Cricut Expression with 2 rolls of vinyl last May.

I don't find much at regular thrift stores, but we have a thrift store in our area that is strictly for craft items and it benefits a senior center. They have fabric, patterns and all types of craft items. My friend volunteers there and she is always telling me about her scrappy finds.

If something like this existed here when my kids were all in school, I would so do this. Nothing makes me happier than talking about crafty things with people who are equally excited instead of looking at me like I have 2 heads!!

Which thrifts (chain or locals) do you all tend to find things at? We have Savers, Goodwill and Salvation Army. I know we have a lot of small antique stores, but not small thrift stores...I usually go to the last two if I bother at all, but I hear that good things can be found at Savers here in other departments...so I wonder if maybe they get better things all around.

I usually find scrapbook or craft stuff at yard sales all the time. I live in Utah where lots of people have crafty hobbies. I frequently see Stampin Up sets. I've bought a die cut machine, punches, stamps, and ink pads. I usually am not impressed with the paper selection. It tends to be circa late 90's- early 2000's. I don't have much luck at thrift stores, but there's a limited selection here.

Savers gets crafty stuff, but they price it way too high for me. For example, Goodwill gets new shrink wrapped ink pads and sells them for $1.09 when Savers gets old leaky icky ink pads and bags them at 4 for $9.99. Goodwill sells Stampin Up sets at $1.69 for polymer and $3.65 for wood - Savers prices the same types of sets at $9.99 and $14.99. The thing is, I guess it would totally depend on where the crafters in your area donate.

I know people who sell things on eBay for a ton of money that cost them a quarter at their GW but would be almost eBay prices in other GWs. My Mom used to make jewelry and never once bought anything looking while visiting me because the prices were always significantly more than she'd pay at home for triple the amount of scrap.

I am told pricing also depends on the staff. That's very true! Different Goodwills have different pricing scales. Heck, we even have a upscale Goodwill that has an upper floor of overpriced high end merchandise! We go there to laugh about how the same item they have for $49 can be bought at other Goodwills for $5 - $10!

I went to Goodwill today. There were two Stampin' Up sets for 3.99, I didn't want either. They had several magnetic albums, and they had a partially complete album. It was a Christmas Day for a family, and their trip to Mendocino. There were a few blank pages so you could add your own activities.

Tuesday I went to Goodwill and found a Prismacolor Premier zipper storage/carrying case for $1.99. Once I found it, I was on a mission looking to see if there were markers anywhere. No such luck. They did have a brand new photo album, a couple of packages of embellishments and a couple of hard cover idea books.
I went back today just in case they put out more scrappy/crafting goodness. I didn't see any new stuff, but it's always worth checking.

I have the best luck at Goodwills...especially when I travel. Sizzix big Kick, yellow camera and SU Build a Bear dies, SU clear stamps, and page kits. Most are new in package and priced to move.

I stopped at a Goodwill last weekend and saw two shelves full of plastic clamshells of Stampin' Up stamp sets... probably 20-30 sets, total. They 'knew' what they had, though, because the prices on them were $7 -$10 each or more. But none of them jumped out at me and said 'buy me' especially since they weren't the 50% off color of the week.

I'm a very rare thrift store shopper but last time I went to Goodwill I couldn't believe the high prices on some of the craft items and books!
My greatest find was at a direct seller garage sale that I almost skipped. I took 2 big bagfuls plus CM albums and 12x12 paper packs in my arms for about $80. Almost all that I needed/wanted (the CM album was NIP and in tangerine, which is a color I stared buying and is discontinued...and it doesn't quite match the current orange). I did score a $2 round tab SU punch that I already owned but knew I could sell...which I did for over $40. I felt guilty about that, but I give enough to friends and others, I didn't lose sleep over it at least.
It's such a range, I never worry about selling everything I'm getting rid of, but I also don't want to give away the valuable stuff, since it all goes back into supporting my hobby.
