I can't believe that they cancelled this show. It's one of my favorites. The rumor is that they cancelled it because of Tim Allen's political leanings. The thing I don't understand if that is the case, why now? It has been obvious what they were from the beginning.

It's too bad, it's an entertaining family show. I read an article that was talking about how shows (even successfully H ones) are often cancelled in the 6th season for financial reasons, I think it would be terrible if it was cancelled because of his politics. I think the show does a good job of balancing political views and not taking it all too seriously.
BUT his comments that Hollywood is like 1930s Germany had to have ruffled some feathers.

This make me so sad. Loved this show!
I've read both things - because of the money and because of his politics. I am willing to be it was both things. The funny thing is I watched because of his political leanings!

I like this show and watch it every week but as shows go, it was becoming weaker. I hear the rumors that it was due to the politics but I don't know that I believe that because they have always been there, not just this year. I also read that over 10,000 people signed a petition and want a congress to investigate the reason for the cancellation. Seriously? It is a tv show and shows get cancelled all the time. All that being said, I will miss what i considered a decent family show and hope the network replaces it with something equally family friendly.

I think it's ridiculous for Tim Allen to claim it's being cancelled due to his politics. That's absurd. It simply got too expensive to make as many shows do in later years. Two Broke Girls was also just cancelled after it's sixth season. Totally opposite kind of show, and also pretty popular. Some people really love to feel persecuted, I think. Funny because they are usually the ones hollering about others being "snowflakes" and too sensitive.

Some viewers are hoping CMT will pick it up like Nashville was.

I think the claim about it being due to his politics is just a way to keep his name in the headlines. The right leaning people I know are all up in arms about it. As soon as someone presents logic, they get nasty and call them libtards.
Since I don't watch sitcoms, I have no opinion about the cancellation.
The days of shows lasting for more than 8 seasons are coming to an end. Look at NCIS. They probably keep their costs down by killing off regular characters. Supernatural just killed off several recurring characters. In sitcoms where there is no violence, you either cancel the show or find a way to remove characters.

Could it just be that ratings weren't great and the acting was terrible! Tim is great, his supporting cast was terrible.
2 broke girls was acted horribly, not surprised it was finally cancelled. Should have gone a long time ago IMO.

That's so disappointing! It was one of very few non-sports shows DH enjoys. I read the other day that back in March (I think) contracts had been agreed on for the next season, so I don't think salaries were the issue in the show being cancelled.
I was so looking forward to Evie going to the AFA and seeing more of Kyle and Mandy as a married couple. This past season didn't seem to flow very well, though. I was wondering if we missed a few episodes or they got new writers or something. It just seemed disjointed, and there was at least one episode that didn't seem to make sense with the back story.
Last Man Standing has reruns all the time on a couple of cable channels, but we've seen them all already.
With LMS over, The Middle and Bull are the only two current shows we watch/dvr regularly (now that the Artful Detective has ended for the season).

I'm sad - we have been watching the reruns on CMT and Hallmark lately - we were just getting into it - sorry it has been cancelled.

The show was poorly written and the majority of the actors were horrible. Same for 2 broke girls. Lousy shows that went on for far too long.

We've watched from the beginning. It's always been political. He used to bash Obama at least now he's praising the current president . This past season when my DH is sitting down to watch on the pvr he calls out that he's watching and if I'm busy I say go ahead and watch without me, it's fine. It was getting past it's prime for me. I've never been a fan of Mandy's. imsirius littlemama I hadn't heard 2 Broke Girls was cancelled. Ugg we used to laugh and laugh at the show but the past 2 seasons have been awful. It needed to go. Both Last Man Standing and 2 Broke Girls are in their 6th season.

It's one of my favorite shows too! I love watching it, and although "Mike Baxter" really talks trash about the previous administration and his daughter "Eve" agrees with him, the rest of the Baxter women don't and give as good as he does. So it all balances out. Figures they cancel this family value show and still run Keeping up with kartrashians...I mean kardashians

I highly doubt it would be cancelled for politics if the show was making good money. Money speaks.

I enjoy watching this show and will be sorry to see it end. It's good for a few laughs and I don't expect Oscar winning acting from it. Sometimes it's nice to watch a show without a lot of gratuitous sex and violence.
On a side note, Tim Allen is married to a local girl from my town so he visits here a few times a year. I have talked to him a couple of times briefly at the club his father in law runs. He is an extremely kind and polite man who doesn't act like a star at all. He dotes on his young daughter. I've seen their family at Mass and he did not put up with any shenanigans from her during the service. So from that perspective I hope that he finds continued success in his career.

When this show first started I tried to watch it and couldn't even get through the first episode, so i was just surprised to realize that it had still been on for 6 seasons!
And it's no knock toward these actors or writers---I have a hard time with sitcoms in general. Even sitcoms of the past that I really enjoyed, such as Frasier or Friends, have had episodes or story arcs or characters who made me cringe.

We are going to be sad to see it go, especially DH, who loves this show. We both can see past the political to the funny. I honestly think there is a good balance of it on the show. It shows both sides of the politics in my opinion. So, I'm guessing it got the cut because of money. However, a friend of mine thinks it got the cut because the liberal movie/TV makers don't want even a smidge of conservatives views.

A Facebook friend posted a link about this to a very right wing blog. It said it was a shame they had to cancel a show about blue collar workers. They are far from blue collar! He's the head guy of advertising or marketing at a major outdoor retail store. His wife has at least a masters in geology and worked for a private company until she tried being a teacher. They live in Denver; where homes are priced very high and they live in a nice one. I agree it was becoming weaker. I thought it ran it's course.

I highly doubt it would be cancelled for politics if the show was making good money. Money speaks. This. It's always about the money. If this was their top show, you better believe it wouldn't get cancelled. It was the top rated show among 18-49 year old adults on Friday night. I believe I read it was ABC's second highest rated show.
