I never heard of lining bedroom drawers for my drawers.. HAHAHA... I thought maybe this is a rich and famous thing? Soooo (In my best British voice) ohhh la la... Gurl...I told you they sell them at the Walmart! I challenge you to clean out your undie and bra drawers, buy some pretty new ones and line that drawer. Every time you open the drawer after its just..lovely to look at. I see this is a passionate thing of yours!! I was wondering though a couple of things.. doesn't the paper move around?? or does it stay put? I am assuming it's not like contact paper. My current undies are really not paper worthy!! But I was just thinking about getting some new ones after another thread..

I bet you guys don't own an iron either... I do. I don't know if it works. I seriously want to line my not an antique Wal-Mart dresser drawers. Except I want a lilac and not a lavender smell for the daytime/nighttime underwear. I want to buy some Yardley lotion too, which reminds me of my grandma who lined drawers.

I don't but a lot of older people I know do (not saying it's a old people thing just what I've noticed in my life)...they line them with wax paper, kraft paper and I've noticed thick gift wrap paper.

Nothing. My dresser came lined with velvet. Sounds so fancy but it's really not lol. My kids dressers have painted bottoms that are smooth so no need.

I remember when I used to line my clothing drawers with pretty paper!
Now I only line my kitchen cabinets, with that spongy rubber stuff.

Nothing I've never heard of lining a dresser. I've seen contact paper or that non slip stuff for lining kitchen cabinets. I've never heard of lining dresser drawers. What's the purpose of that? I have a chest of drawers that belonged to my parents. The inside of the drawers was not finished and wood resins have actually stained items of clothing that were laid right against the bare wood (and remained there for a long length of time). That doesn't happen if I put a liner in the bottom of the drawer (and avoid pushing clothing against the inside edges). Unscented paper or liner for me all the way. If I wanted scent in my drawers, I'd either spritz them with a nice spray, or add a little packet of some kind of potpourri.

Living in the midwest for the last 10 years and it's my first experience with peonies growing and blooming like crazy. God i love the way they smell. A co-worker cut a massive bouquet for my boss to give to his wife. Seriously, probably 50 gorgeous pink blooms. She didn't like them because they smelled like "old lady flowers". God willing and the creek don't rise, someday she'll be an old lady and when she thinks back to that, she'll laugh and wonder what she had been thinking.

I bought a used dresser at auction (not old enough for antique status), and I sanded bad painted the interior of the drawers so they wouldn't have to be lined. Painted hot pink I like your thinking!

I get it, OP. I wouldn't line most new drawers but I have an old dresser that used to be my parents' in the guest room, and it has to be lined. It has thick white paper liners, but underneath that are newspaper layers from 1977 or so. Every once in a great while I look at them. Makes me smile.

I think as people age they don't bathe as often (because its difficult, its dangerous), and maybe that's the scent people smell? I know when my grandmother lived with us in her declining years she absolutely fought my mother to get in the shower. She felt so violated and would scream in panic. OMG it was so awful I used to cry. But she had to bathe. Ahh.that memory breaks my heart. I cut "old ladies' slack on this, we have no idea what its like. Yet. My grandma too, after her Alzheimer's got bad. My mom had the worst time getting this formerly stylish, neat-as-a-pin lady into the shower. It was so bad, like bathing a cat.

I already said I don't line my drawers, but I do put a bar of handmade sandalwood soap in each one. The dresser has two cedar-lined cubbies built into it, but the drawers aren't cedar. But the sandalwood soap goes nicely with the faint cedar scent. It's not overpowering, just pleasant when you open the drawer or when you take out something that's been in there a long while. I like "old lady" floral scents. Not old perfumes per se, but definitely rose and lavender and peony and honeysuckle and lily of the valley. I'm from the generation that still played outside and got to smell all that stuff for real in family gardens. Maybe that DOES make me an old lady! I enjoy a lot of Crabtree and Evelyn scents because they pick up those classic floral notes.

The funny thing is, I was totally onboard with lining the drawers, didn't realize that not everyone does, and then realized that my dresser drawers are not lined. My ds has my dressers from when I was growing up, and his are lined.

I was raised to always line my drawers and shelving. When I moved into my very first apartment my mother called me just to make sure that I had used shelf paper. BTW-my acupuncturist is young and hip and sprays lavender before treatments in order to promote healing.

I have an older maple dresser. I line it with lavender scented paper from Tuesday Morning. But now I want to go look at Crabtree and Evelyn's website to see what they have. Look at what all of you started! Save

Definitely unscented. I don't get these laundry additives that have a super powerful scent. I don't want to smell like my laundry or my dresser drawer, I want to smell like the perfume I choose to wear for the day. We use to get wall paper remnants (partial rolls) from paint/decorating stores. It is a little stiffer than most wrapping papers, a whole lot easier to use than something like contact paper. We never glued ours down so we could easily change out, but did in some drawers like the bathroom and a couple of areas in the kitchen that get high traffic use.

Sweet memories brought back by this thread, thank you.
I'm not sure when I stoped lining dresser drawers, maybe ten years ago with current dresser? I've got the urge to buy some liners now, I feel like I can smell it!
Tuesday Morning used to carry a lot of liners.

I bet you guys don't own an iron either... Talking about ironing always reminds me of GrinningCat. We went round and round on the old NSBR once. She was convinced her shirts looked fine straight out of the dryer and I insisted you can tell the difference between a freshly-tumbled dried shirt and one that's been ironed.

Yes, I remember that so well. I was in the 'you must iron' crew. A toast to GC and her unironed, comfortably wrinkly shirts!

Okay, gotta ask...what do you do with your 'daytime' undies? What about your bras? Shorts? Little tank tops? Bras and daytime undies are in drawers built into my closet. One of those design your own closet module systems. I don't really wear tank tops as clothes. I have some I sleep in that are in my dresser. I'm more likely to wear lace trimmed camis. Those are on these little velvet hangers that have 5 prongs on each side. They were labeled accessory hangers when I bought them. I thought you didn't wear underwear (from another thread)? Why special night underwear? Inquiring minds want to know. Lol.

DSO has just given our dark timber drawers a facelift by painting them black and replacing the old wooden knobs with modern silver handles. I am totally going to go and find some (scented) drawer liners after reading this thread. But NOT lavender.
I've never lined my drawers, but I am aware that some people do it. My 82yo aunt always gives me scented sachets to put in my underwear drawer.
