Old newspapers are full of great gems.
I found this in an 1879 paper and thought I'd share:

Names In The Directory - In looking over our new directory, just issued, we find among the names some peculiar ones, which we give.
The following occupations are represented by the [unreadable word] of citizens: 16 Bakers, 2 Barbers, 2 Garters, 9 Coopers, 2 Drivers, 1 Farmer, 4 Gardeners, 11 Hunters, 2 Masons, 18 Millers, 4 Moulders, 1 Saddler, 1 Seaman, 3 Shoemakers, 1 Slater, 2 Stewards, 1 Trainer, 12 Turners, 1 Usher, 7 Walkers, 6 Weavers and 36 Smiths. The last named trade is represented much the oftenest.
In colors we find 24 Browns, 5 Grays, 10 Greens and 11 Whites.
In 3 Fields and 1 Greenfield are 2 Lambs. There is one Mann drinking with a Glass from 4 Fountains.
Among the feathered creation we have 1 Chippy, 11 Martins, 2 Peacocks, 1 Swan, and from them all but 1 Egg is had.
We also learn that 7 Bells ring for 2 Bishops and 1 Pope, who occupy 4 Temples in which there is but 1 Sleeper.
There is 1 Gale that blows 8 Clouds through the branches of 2 Chestnuts, 1 Hollywood and 8 Greenwoods, in 11 Woods.
Six Kings rule over 2 Irelands, that have had but 1 Fight, after which they visited Paris and spoke 2 Tongues.
Among them we find 8 Armstrongs, 3 Cains, 2 Cottons, 2 Coates, 5 Fords, 4 Garrets in one Flaghouse with 23 Halls, 4 Lanes, 8 Mills, 2 Moulds, 3 Pikes, 3 Rices, 3 Roses, 3 Whiteheads, 3 Roachs, 2 States, 3 Berrys and 1 Ball, 1 French, 1 Page, 1 Stone, 1 Toy, 1 Turnpenny, 1 Wheeler, 1 Wolf, and 11 Blacks. Two Majors command 39 Doughertys and 51 Taylors, and there is 1 Leach and 1 Gosling.
