I switched from a blackberry to a Samsung 2 years ago. (sobbing uncontrollably since I still miss my blackberry) I think I want to switch to an I-phone. Would you wait for the 8 to come out or just get the 7? My sister (a long-time I-phone user, suggests that I may want to wait, but I think if I do, I won't make the switch)
Thoughts?
(the reason I want to switch to an Iphone is that my Samsung gets stuck after an x number of texts, plus the last program upgrade sucks and I'm seriously not pleased with it)

I would have Samsung fix the issues with your phone. I have had a Galaxy S5 for almost 3 years and have never had a single issue with it. Same for DH and my mom. DS has had an iphone for the same amount of time and his first one had nothing but issues. The phone had to be replaced once, the charging cord twice and it constantly had memory issues. The one he has now seems to be better, but it is only 6 months old.

I'd do it now if your phone is having issues.
My DD just got a 7 - and they had a RED one! I was jealous of her new phone.

Given how much i loathe, despise, and hate my Samsung, it i could ditch it today, i would.
(And good luck getting Samsung to fix the phone. Every problem i have head is "normal" and "within the bounds of acceptable issues". Even though they started three weeks after getting it. I will never have another Samsung product.)

Predictions are the iPhone 8 is going to be more expensive than the 7 and you will always have 3 to 6 months of having to iron-out technical issues with a new hardware/iOS release.

I've had a Samsung for 4? years. I've never had an issue with texts getting stuck. Or any issue, really. I currently have the s7, and the last update was pretty minor with no changes except to displaying notifications on the always on display.
Sorry to hear you're having such problems.

I recently replaced my Samsung S5, which I loved but it was getting slow because it was elderly, with the S8. I love it. I hate my DH's iPhone. I think it's all what you're used to.

If it's just the phone and not the operating system, why not stay with Android? I hated my last Samsung, and the one before that had texting issues before I traded it in. My techie nephew who is a blogger for Motorola has been anti-Samsung for years, long before he began working for Motorola.
I have a Droid Turbo 2 and love it. DS has the original Turbo and is due for an upgrade but still loves what he has and is in no hurry.
Things to consider. I know people who have switched from Android to Apple and are really happy. I hate the Apple OS, so I will always be Android.

I'd do it now. They don't come out until September to October and I expect a big wait list. We are due for an upgrade but will wait 6 months beyond release to even think about upgrading. I also heard the "plus" model may not be released right away and it will most likely be more expensive than previous models.
And, carriers should have "deals" on these "older" models.

I have a 5 and I'm trying to last until the 8 comes out, because shiny and new. If the 8 proves to be a dud, I'll go for the 7+

I'm a big Apple fan, mostly because the same content is available on all of my devices--same contact list, documents, photos, etc. if it's on my phone, it's on my iPad, desktop, laptop, etc.
I'm hearing rumors about the iphone 8 and "it's the 10 year anniversary ". Something about it will be special.
Having said that, you can buy a used or reconditioned 6s, which is a very good phone and still fairly current. Craigslist or eBay sells them, or you may know of someone willing to upgrade. Apple carries refurbished phones, but the discount isn't as good. Be sure to buy a phone compatible with your carrier. Then all you need is a new SIM card. Buy it used and you can decide if you like the OS. Then you can upgrade to the 8 without an expensive output.

I recently got a new PC - and I was surprised at how much I was able to sync from my iPhone. Mostly, I just want to be able to sync my music/pictures/videos, but I'm also able to load up books I purchased, contacts, documents (from Pages to Word). I had really wanted a Mac so that it would all be seamless, but it's not been a huge issue. My old PC lasted us from 1999. But yes, I vote get the 7 now.

If it's just the phone and not the operating system, why not stay with Android? I hate the Apple OS, so I will always be Android. I know 2 people (one of them my DH) who started with Android, switched to apple and HATE it. My co-worker can't wait to get back to android. Any new apple product (and I say this while wearing my apple watch, with my iphone next to my Mac laptop) needs to be given 6-8 MONTHS to get the bugs worked out. They have proved time and again that they cannot produce a quality product right out of the gate. They're willing to fix it. 6-8 months down the line you have a great (updated) quality product. but right out of the gate no way. In a nutshell: Go for the 7, or a new Android

Predictions are the iPhone 8 is going to be more expensive than the 7 and you will always have 3 to 6 months of having to iron-out technical issues with a new hardware/iOS release. This week there was an article in Forbes that stated "We expect the iPhone 8 to have 128GB and 256GB models priced at $999 and $1,099, respectively," said Goldman Sachs analyst Simona Jankowski in a research note seen by Business Insider. Personally, I have a hard time believing it will be that much, but it is going to be trending in that direction most likely. I sure won't be in line to buy one! If it were me, first I'd try to iron out the problems with your current phone. If that didn't work, then I'd switch to a current model iPhone.

i have a an S7 and a 7
the android is - hands down - my favorite of the two
it's always been my opinion that android is preferred by those in the know
and apple is preferred by those who want to be known
ask the people at the cell phone store what they use

He's waiting for the 8. Anyway, he liked his iPhone so much he switched us over to Mac computers. I switched from a Samsung Galaxy 5 to an iPhone 6s, because the pink was pretty. I love my phone! I have used it more than the preceding phones combined. We haven't had any issues with our iPhones. And, mine gets a great deal of use.

It is limited time, too. I went with a friend to buy a 7+ last night. She ended up with rose gold, but I would have been tempted to get the red. I got the 7+ red about a month ago and I love this thing. She originally wanted rose gold, but they didn't have that except in the 32, which was a no go. So he gave her other options. He said red hasn't been out long and is limited time. She always likes to be similar to everyone, but just a little different ... so red it is!! She loves it.

My husband is as tech-savvy as anyone I know, and worked in IT for 25 years. He has an IPad Pro AND a Surface tablet (but uses the iPad almost all the time). He is equally comfortable on Mac and Windows, as well as Linux, and has a custom built PC running Windows most of the time. He has an iPhone and loves it.

On another note, we found out last night that Siri on DS' iphone will respond to my voice - when I am sick. When I am well, she just ignores me.

I had an I-phone 5 that finally died at dinner last night.... Thank god, dinner was three doors from Apple. I was trying to hold off for the 8.... but I guess the phone didn't agree! I did the RED. LOVE IT and I am ok with not getting the 8. This phone has 8 times the memory mine did and is just all around so much nicer... I say GO for it!

Yep, I've heard it won't be released until closer to Christmas rather than Septemberish, and that it will be $1000 or very close for just the standard configuration - not the bigger/better versions.
