I swear the poor second kid ends up with so many toys they don't "need" anything else for their birthday. I'm running into that issue once again with DS, he'll be 4 next week and I'm still stumped. I had hoped to get him a swing/play set, but we just can't swing it right now. I thought about a workbench as he's obsessed with tools/construction, but they all seem so juvenile, and we have all the tools already (far more than any kid should have). He's just starting to show interest in Playmobil stuff but I still have some left from DS1 that I haven't dug out yet. We have a wood train/table. So, what do you get for a 4 year old that has everything? (disclaimer, yes I know my kid is spoiled, don't bother telling me )

Maybe a new comforter and sheets? My kids LOVE picking those out.
Books? Sports gear?

My son wanted more "real" stuff around 4. We got him a small wheelbarrow and a leaf blower. For Christmas that year I went on shutterfly and bought him a life size fathead of himself dressed as a jedi for his room. It turned out great. We have a family tablet and usually only have the free games on it. We may let him pick out a few games this year.

My dd begged for a 2 wheel razed scooter for her 4th birthday and it has been a great gift. She is almost 6 and loves it.

Mine wants Lego, Lego, and more Lego, and he doesn't care that we have about 3 tons of it already. He also likes any toys that he can use to fight with his brother, from light sabers to these silly things: Socker BoppersBut I certainly understand if you would like to skip the toys to beat one another with. Um, on a nice quiet note, he also loves to draw with dry erase markers, so I buy the low-odor ones for him and he thinks that's fabulous. Oh, and he would like every Little Critter book in existence.

Ooh, the sheets are a fun idea. Mine just moved out of his toddler bed....finally, and he'd love character sheets. And I'd happily make his bed with a comforter and I'd never have to see them once the bed was made, so we'd both be happy. And outdoor toys of any type. He loves lawn "darts", baseball bat, ball, & mitt, badminton or tennis rackets, bikes, scooters, basketballs, soccer balls, etc. If you play with nothing but Lego bricks long enough you wind up with a lot of energy you need to go burn.
