So I went to Michaels today for my Aunt. She needed a big letter L and I said I would get her one. No big deal. I headed to the scrapbooking section and I didn't see much that I would have wanted at all. They did have a huge selection of Gelatos so I would have bought some of them with my 40% off coupon but I had to get a letter L. Then there was the selection of glazes and stuff like Gesso and the like very cool.
Other than that the selection was nil. There was nothing i would have wanted to spend $100 let alone $5 on. Where is all the good stuff gone? Is it all online now? Recollections used to make great flowers, and embellishments and things. There was just junk.
Oh well next week there will be another coupon!

Oh goodness, I spent $60 there this week. A couple of baskets for storage, washi tape, some new pens (really did need these, my old ones are drying up), Simple Stories Say Cheese stuff, and I walk out $60 poorer.

That's so funny, I stopped there tonight while the rest of the family ran an errand. The Recollecrions Halloween line was cute, but I don't need anything Halloween.
The new Heidi Swapp was tempting with gold accents, as were some cute air mail envelopes by DCWV.
I left empty handed, maybe I'm finally maxed out!

I think I've walked out empty handed the last 3 or 4 times I've been in there. Even their $ bins have sucked.

Just left Mikes. Mine had crate paper 12x12 pads (new lines) for $7 because they were Hot Buy pads. I got one of them and I got another mini HS kit thingy. Idk what it's called lol Also my Mikes has a new line of products out not recollections but its called something else...lol I'm not much help! I should have taken a pic to remember the name.
ETA- I remember the name it's called Craft Smith

I haven't been terribly impressed with their selection their lately. I picked up new Heidi Swapp/BH Project Life page protectors recently and that was it.

I haven't been there in a couple of months and that was only for some new scissors. Of course while I was there I looked around but didn't see anything else I wanted. They're pretty slow at getting new products in. I would be interested in seeing the new HS PL items though. Maybe I'll check that out next week.

My Michael's rarely has anything new. They put out Halloween scrappy stuff, but most of it looks like what they had out last year.

I gave up on Michael's a while ago. I almost never find anything worth buying. I think the last time I really spent money there was when Heidi Swapp came our with her new line of mists a few years ago. I go in occasionally and will look but they just never seem to get anything I want. I guess this is good as I really don't need anything.
I do need a few photo mats so I guess I will have to go somewhat soon. I also need a pair of knitting needles to. I miss the days when I could go in and find cool stuff all the time.

You know I most always spend $35 or less if not $0 but last Friday I ended up buying a ton of stuff to alter. Burlap canvas, metal letters, faux pumpkins, small luggage piece that was 40% off, maybe I just needed to alter a bunch of stuff but this is a first for me. I guess it depends on what you are looking for or needing or ahem wanting.

The flowers are in their own area and the embellishments are scattered amongst the Jolees, Paper Studio, etc which is organized by theme.

I went to michaels today. I am in a new city and the store is huge and clean. I found some cute Halloween embellishments that I got with a coupon. 40% of recollections stickers and embellishments. I really like this store. They had more than the store in my old city but I didn't find a lot but more than in a long time. I bought what I went in for and bought the extra goodies and only spent $16. I was bummed that they were out of the navy hs mist. Oh well.

I go once a week or so. If I can't find anything to use my coupon on, I buy ATG tape or something I know I will need like pop dots. I don't find a lot of embellishments or inspiration there. I miss Archivers.

They have really ugly Recollections flowers and embellishments this season. I bought all the stuff I liked last year and this year it was as though they took over Prima's cheapest flowers and butterflies as well as low end 7 Gypsies Circa 2004. I can't make this up the stuff was such poor design. Michaels in the US is great though. My Michaels, not so much.

I was at Mike's today and bought Halloween decor for my house. Everything was on sale but I was able to use a coupon on a non-sale item. Their SB stuff is pathetic. I very rarely ever buy SB stuff from there because they never have what I need/want.

I've been to Michaels several times in the last week. I've bought several mixed media Strathmore pads which were buy one, get one free. I got a couple Copic markers, a calligraphy pen and ink to dip it in, a gold American Crafts marker, a Micron pen, a Heidi Swapp stencil, a gorgeous chalkboard design hardcover journal for $2.99 and some cute $1 Halloween stamps and small 2x2ish gift cards to stamp.
I saw a ton of great Simple Stories stuff they're carrying now and it seemed like they were getting in some new product. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for. I definitely do not buy paper there but I do seem to find some fun embellishments and great clearance stuff when I go.

Got an email notice from them today announcing their newer items. I'm going to put silk flowers in my flower pots and window box this fall (instead of live flowers). Much easier to maintain. I have two stores to choose from - both are hit or miss. I've tried having friendly conversations with the manager about product I would love to see (and purchase) in their store - get the same dismissive attitude every time. I swear they've had the same DCWV paper pads for the past 10 years. Individual papers are very random. Their Tim Holtz selection has improved but I'm finally over his line. I use my coupons for WRMK albums & refills, adhesives, and Thickers.

I was just there and picked up the cute Crate Paper $7 paper pads, and Simple Stories Say Cheese collection packs. I think for Michaels they've been OK lately- the new HS PL stuff, new collection packs of several different name brands, and a good selection of adhesives. They used to seem out of stock at all times on what I use, but that isn't the case anymore. Now if they would just get more and new paper lines (AC, Pebbles, Crate Paper, Glitz, Teresa Collins- anything!!) and way less DCWV, Martha Stewart stuff I'd be happier.

I pop in there maybe once a month now and many times I leave empty handed. Sometimes if I just need a scrappy fix I'll buy ATG refills or page protectors. I guess I've reached maximum capacity of supplies so am very, very picky.

My M's is awful--they just moved locations and everything is bright, new and clean, but they have even less than they used to. It's like when they moved my local M's they shrank all the sections. It's not fun to browse anymore. The one the next town over, though, is awesome, and almost always has a great clearance section. Their store is bigger, but their selection is better, too.
