My siblings and I would like to go in together to get a gift for our parents to thank them for a vacation they're taking us all on. We did this once before and we got them season tickets to the local theater, which they really enjoyed. We're trying to come up with a new idea this year. They have everything , so an experience-type gift (like the theater) would be good. I've also looked into a few 'something-of-the-month' clubs, but don't have any personal experience with any of them, so I'm hesitant. We've looking for something in the $400-$500 range. They live in the Washington, DC area. They're both fully mobile. Any ideas? TIA!

Oh!! So wonderful. How about something to the Strathmore? My mom always loved that. If your parents are in VA, how about something to Wolf Trap?
I feel a little crazed I'm not there anymore to enjoy all that!

We buy my MIL things like tix to Cirque Du Soliel or theatre with us. One birthday we sent her for a (longed for) visit with her brother. Flowers for her garden etc.

How about hiring a photographer and get some family pictures when you're all together? Our kids did this for us recently and there is nothing we would rather have.

Are there any experiences on the vacation that you could arrange?

Are there any walking tours or food tours or beer or wine tours you could send them on. Sometimes it's fun to experience your own city.
For my dad's 75th we sent him on a biking food /wine tour of a city a ferry ride away. We put my mom and dad up at a hotel and sent them for dinner. My mom didn't do the tour. If it was a walking tour she would have done it but she doesn't bike.
I also second the photographer. We did that for my parents' 50th and they loved it.

If they loved the theatre, why not do that again?

Dinner and show at National Harbor? I would love to go to a Jose Andres restaurant!

What about sending one of those dinner-in-a-box subscriptions like Blue Apron or the Munchery? My parents (late 80s but in pretty good shape) love those.

Tickets to the theatre/ballet/opera/new show or similar plus maybe a dining experience if that comes into the budget?
Or day trip somewhere they'd like to visit?
Behind the scenes tour - I believe the Smithsonian offers one?
An adventure experience if it's their thing eg hot air ballooning?

We gifted my parents membership of the National Trust which is an organisation that protects and preserves historic properties/nature reserves/castles/coastline etc throughout the UK. Any similar in their area that they'd enjoy?
Or something like paying for some service - landscaping in the garden? Redecorating?

I would love a gift certificate for house cleaning. When you get older it is harder to keep up and I would rather spend my time doing something more fun than cleaning.

We did this for my mil and fil and they were delighted. Both were in their mid 70's and felt they could do as well as previously. We organised someone for one year and after that they kept the service going.
