I just did six layouts (which is a lot for me) and used 15 pictures. I must have THOUSANDS of pictures of my three kids when they were little. Granted, not all of them are "scrap worthy" but still.... I'll never get them all scrapped!
I really need need to scrap more often. And I need to get rid of those pics that are not scrapable, no sense in hanging on to them, right?
It's discouraging sometimes...

I have 2000-2009 to finish. There are boxes and boxes. So what do I do? I start a memory book project for my classroom (26 kids) will each get a book at the end of the year. It is 8.11 x 11. Each book has 14 pages. Oy.

Wow that is quite an undertaking. I have boxes of photos from the 5 years I lived in London and did a lot of travelling in Europe. I decided there's no way I'm going to scrap them all but I'm going to do one Project Life album of the highlights and scan the rest of the photos. That way at least I can do a slide show or something on the laptop.

I have made an executive decision to not worry about getting them all done. My kids are 30 and 32 and I'll NEVER be able to go back and scrap all those years of pictures so I've decided to just choose some favourite photos here and there over the years to scrap.

Oh, I will get them done! I have the years organized and probably 400-500 pages already scrapped. They just need pictures. And maybe a few more embellishments. And if I don't, my boys' wives (not married yet!) will be thankful.

That sounds like a great idea. I do have some favorite pics through the years (my kids are 26, 30 and 32). I know a lot of my pics are not really good pics, so I don't know why I'm keeping them. As I go through them I should pull out the good ones and decide which ones to scrap. Maybe put the rest into albums... Hmmm...

That's a lot of albums that they (and you) could be looking at and enjoying now vs later, so I'm very curious!! I've never heard of this approach!

I have thousands of photos scrapped. But I have been working on my sons' baby books for YEARS! Today I finally finished my youngest son's first year and an half. I still have probably 100 photos left of my oldest son's baby photos. I had scrapped those very early on and am redoing them into something that I don't cringe at.
After that I need to fix my heritage albums, my wedding album, and work on my photos from my teen years on. I need to do the photos of me and my husband before kids.
Then I need to do my pets album, my ornament collection album, our living history hobby albums, my son's hobby albums and eventually I want to go through all my albums and split the albums up between my 2 boys. I may have to redo pages to make two layouts instead of one so each one has that memory scrapped.
I figure I'm 57 now. If I retire at 62 and do nothing but scrap, I should have everything scrapped before I die as long as I live to be 117. Of course, if my sons marry or I have grandchildren, I'll have to add on 10 more years to scrap all of that.
The good thing is, I don't need a single supply except adhesive, page protectors and albums.

It really is OK. When you are gone, no ones going to say "man, grandma was such a slacker. It's a shame she only got three scrapbooks made." I'm betting they will appreciate whatever you get done.

I get two of every kit we make. I have over 40 albums finished. I make two of every album. I am also a tiny bit anal and want it done in chronological order. I make at least two vacation albums every year, so those are my priority. Right now I am making 26 memory books for the kids in my classroom. I am not in a rush. When I am ready, I pull the pictures for the year and lay them out into groups. Then I go through all of the layouts I have and match as many as possible. Then I do the other layouts that don't have matching finished layouts. I can get a year (2 total albums) done in about 5-6 months this way.

It is overwhelming. I have thousands of photos saved to sort through. We just need to narrow it down.

My kids are only 7 and 5 but that is the exact attitude I have taken. There is just no way in the world I could get every single photo or memory recorded. I actually got really jaded with scrapbooking because all I was doing was scrapbooking pretty pictures, these days I scrapbook events and holidays and memories and I much more involved than before.

I began scrapping when my oldest was 2. I did go back to scrap everything from his birth on and have been chrono scrapping ever since. I gave up trying to scrap things from before I had my boys, figuring they wouldn't really care that much and I could always go back and do them later on in life if I ran out of other photos. Like that will happen. I am scrapping photos from the end of 2003. Did I mention I am a chrono scrapper? Did you read it right? 2003. I'll be sitting w/ myboysnme and we'll be scrapping til we're 117. I'll bring the Geritol.

I know I will never get them all scrapped but after moving my scrap room and scrapbooks I think it might be better to not scrap everything. Boxes of scrapbooks are heavy lol. I had more scrapbooks than I realized. I really need to get them organized and look through them more often.

I am working on my daughter's baby album and she is 10. I am a slow scrapbooker and I feel like I want this album to be so perfect which makes me even slower. I was kind of intimidated to start it so that's how I got so far behind. But I am now plugging along, I figure that the baby album is most important for me. After I get to her older years I may go PL or a simpler way of scrapbooking, I will cross that bridge then. As for now I am enjoying making fussy pages that I love. Plus if I scrapbooked every picture the child would end up with 50 albums by the time she was 18.

I don't worry about it, to be honest.
1. I could never ever scrap all the photos of my kids -- there is simply not enough time left in mu lifetime to do so. 2. Not all pictures are worthy of a LO. They're just not worth the time and effort. 3. I set priorities -- what are the 10 most important moments for each kid's life to do a LO for? If you get those 10 done, well, you've already accomplished a lot. Then move on to the next 10. 4. ANYTHING I do in regards to my kids is more than I have from my childhood, so they've already "won" in comparison to me.
The hobby should be FUN, not cause stress.

I stress over this from time to time and its overwhelming and discouraging but I keep moving forward.
I guess we'll have to accept the fact that not all pics will be scrapped and not every story will be told but we can just do the best we can.
I think our families will appreciate what we do get done.

I have made an executive decision to not worry about getting them all done. My kids are 30 and 32 and I'll NEVER be able to go back and scrap all those years of pictures so I've decided to just choose some favourite photos here and there over the years to scrap. THIS. DD is 4 and I already have thousands (yes, plural) of photos of her. There is no way I would ever be able to scrap them all, nor would I want to. I am hopelessly behind and I kind of don't care. I work on the photos I really love, in no particular order, and what gets done gets done. She is already WAY ahead of the game compared to me for the simple fact that we made it a priority to have beautiful portraits done of her from birth until the present. I have virtually nothing, maybe a handful of photos from my childhood. DH has snapshots, slides (that I just had put onto DVDs) and Super-8 video that we had put onto DVD's when his mom was still alive. I have more than a lifetime's worth of stuff to keep me busy already, so I just work on whatever strikes my fancy. I do have a few important projects that I want to get around to sooner than later. They will end up being long, ongoing projects and I don't have the organizational systems in place yet to do start something like that without adding to my current chaos. I know I will have to work on other things in between or I will get too bored, so I need to have somewhere to put my in progress stuff. Until that problem gets solved (soon, very soon, I hope!) they will sit on hold a bit longer.

My sons are 31, 29 & 17. I did not scrap until the youngest was almost 3. I scrap what ever photos inspire me, the LO's just get placed in the albums in order. Will I ever have all of my photos scrapped? No. But since I have only 10 or so photos from my childhood at all, my sons are also ahead already. I will never get everything scrapped, but then I don't plan to. Anything I complete is good in my world.

I am pretty sure this will be my last year of teaching. I will turn 50 on the last day with kids. Perfect timing! I plan to scrap my heart out this summer and next school year and the next summer and the next school year… I will get it done. I am too OCD to think otherwise.
