It's beautiful and I'm insanely jealous! Rockland/Rockport/Camden is my very favoritest area - so much so that we got married at Vesper Hill Children's Chapel and had our wedding dinner at Cappy's in Camden. I'm going to talk to DH and I'm sure I'll be in touch! I hope you get to enjoy it when you can.

It looks great. Very warm and inviting. You and your guests are going to love it.
May i ask, why Maine? What drew you there? I've never been, but just wonder

It looks great. Very warm and inviting. You and your guests are going to love it. May i ask, why Maine? What drew you there? I've never been, but just wonder Well ... I have a childhood friend, now a FB friend, who bought a house up here a few years ago. Last year we came and stayed in her house and fell in love with the area. It's exactly the right mix of outdoorsy and artsy/foodie. Plus it's a nice break from the Texas heat. And Rockland is just beginning to have its upswing in home values, so it was a good investment - prices are not as crazy here as they can be in Camden and Bar Harbor. Also: I love seafood. I grew up in a landlocked state where "seafood" was frozen and came from a box. Texas seafood is great, but we don't get really fresh lobster or clams down there. We don't get haddock at all. Last night I had fried whole belly clams that were amazing; today I ate the most delicious lobster roll. Maine is the best for seafood!

It's so nice! I hope you get to spend a lot of time there! How close are you to your beach house? We would love to buy a beachfront condo in Ocean City, MD, but we are 7 hrs away. And we would want to spend the summer there, so we wouldn't make any rental money!

And we would want to spend the summer there, so we wouldn't make any rental money! Uh, we are 2000 miles away. It's a long haul. Usually we fly from Houston to Boston and then drive up, 3-4 hours. But by the time we have the time to spend whole summers up here, we won't be relying on the rental money to offset the mortgage. It's a long-term game. Right now the plan is for us to spend maybe the first two weeks each summer after school gets out in Texas. It's still quite cool here; not quite the "high" season for rentals. But we love it. We can relax, spend some time making any needed repairs, etc. without losing much rental income.

It is really nice; you did a good job. It looks very cozy. Are your kids excited about having a new vacation spot?
ETA: I would rent it for sure. Who knows, you might get some Pea renters! 😳 😁

I love it. Makes me want to visit Maine. Doesn't it feel good to just bite the bullet and do it? Our hope is to eventually own a home in Florida. A few years ago we bought a lake cabin where we spend our summers. Our plan is to sell the house in town when we retire and buy a place somewhere warm. Summers at the lake in MN and winters in Fl.

Great job, it looks fantastic. Love that area. Now you can call yourself a New Englander...you just need to get yourself a Subaru, some Bean boots, flannel and maybe a touque. I agree about the seafood in Maine. When we go that is one of our goals...to eat as much seafood as possible. Although a lot of the seafood here in my state does come from Maine, it just seems better when we are eating it in Maine. Also Blueberries, love me some Maine Blueberries. And taffy, love me some Maine taffy. And beer, love me some Maine beer.

Yep, you have to find your happy place(s). We hope someday to do summers in Maine and winters in the Hill Country of Texas.

This is so not Texas. I left all my bright colors at home and have been living in gray t-shirts, jeans, flannel or cardigan and no makeup. I could get very used to this.

So exciting! I love the wide plank wood floors. What a great base to explore another part of the country.
