Is it fixable? It doesn't release after punching. Martha Stewart brand.

i wonder if the blades are dulled and catching. Or maybe out of alignment after punching something too thick? Can you bang it out and punch some foil or maybe run some graphite on the cutting edges?

Is it stuck? I've not tried this myself, but read that putting a stuck punch in the freezer will help it release. Once you get it to release, try punching some foil to sharpen it and/or wax paper to prevent sticking. Also, once you get it to release check for small paper bits that may be stuck in the punch causing the issue.

I throw mine on a carpeted floor until it releases.

I've used the aluminium trick a few times with difficult punches, but maybe I'll just use @elaynef's trick from now on

If it has a top button not a lever, I put it on a tile floor and step down hard on the button with my heel.
The lever ones are a bit more tricky. Usually wiggle and/or jiggle until unstuck. Have never tried the freezer trick.
Once unstuck I use the foil then wax paper technique.

So I have a question. I packed all of mine last summer and moved across country. When I pulled them out, none of them punch. I can't even push them down to work.
Do you think the freezer, foil, wax, WD40, throwing it on the carpeted floor or stepping on it will work best to fix them. 🤔 I have some with and without the levers.

Sounds like your punch levers/buttons might have somehow shifted. Weird that they are all are doing that. I'm not sure I'd attempt forcing them as you can crack the lever. Can you try wiggling the levers back and forth a bit to see if they give? For punches that are stuck and won't release, I've dropped them to get them to pop open and/or have used something hard like the end of scissors to push against the underside portion that's stuck.

There is no way I would use WD40 on my punches. Knowing my luck the oil would never all get cleaned off and when I went to use it again would get all over whatever I was punching out. SaveSave

I had a big punch that had a tiny metal bur on one of the cutting edges and it kept sticking in closed position. I filed it off with a metal file and it worked fine since.

I throw mine on a carpeted floor until it releases. I've been known to do this, as well!

Could they maybe be rusty inside causing them to stick? I was thinking moisture, too. I might try WD40 on one of them to see if that works. Spritz. Let it sit. Try it gently. Sometimes you have to repeat those steps a few times. I wouldn't worry about oil residue. If you get the punch working, use it over and over with scrap pp.
