DD has an internship and needs to live elsewhere for 6 weeks. She 'rented' and paid for an air bnb room. ( 3 weeks ago if it matters ) now the person is reneging, yet still HAS DD's money. And the person already adjusted the time period once without 'asking' or whatever.
Oh and there isn't anything else available anymore
Damn flaky pain in my ass
Previous to this it's been pretty reliable, but then that was in other countries. Like if people can just rip your housing out from under you how does one even use air bnb

Also wanted to add, have your DD check CL's for subleases. DS is graduating this week and just subleased his apt to a temp intern for the summer.

Host didn't cancel it - only 17 days of it. So the money isn't returned. But who want to move twice, plus it will cost more for a shorter rental.
I get that it's thier place but don't rent it out to someone take their money then wait then flake out. I'm just frustrated. DD accepted the internship based on this 6 week rental. Now DD can't back out.?
I'm sure air bnb will give DD her money back. Technically they still have it I guess. But since it's not out right cancelled just arbitrarily changed DD has to contact airbnb to get it back, But she's still screwed because it's too late to get another rental for that price range.

DD thought this was safe it was a person effectively 'subletting' for the summer via airbnb. Ah well, I'm Off tomorrow for DS's court of honor so I can help her look. And then, the mom part of me is also now 'worried' about the host on airbnb. Hopefully nothing tragic happened and it's just being flaky DD is now trying to find just 'extra' rooms like she did over seas as if it's an extra room then it won't be needed by the occupant |

Is your DD by chance interning near a college? If so, students often posts housing offers on dedicated university FB pages. Another possibility is extended stay hotels. Good luck to her. I'm sure this is incredibly upsetting and frustrating.

Lol Definitely have her check to see if she can find the student FB page for that college. DS kept telling me that there were so many people posting on his, that it wasn't even worth listing and each day people were cutting prices. We ended up searching for someone who was looking for a room on CL's. Lots of kids graduating with leases through the end of August so many are trying to sublease their units at the last minute and colleges on the quarter system are still in session so hopefully she'll still be able to find something. |
