Last night we went to a wine bar/restaurant that our wine tour guide had recommended and it was excellent. We had a really interesting meal - a bit different from all the very 'traditional' food we'd been eating most of the week I need more details than that please Sue! Can you please elaborate? I ordered what was described as 'ravioli of crab with cannelloni of vegetables' - the ravioli was fried, not boiled and the cannelloni was almost bursting from the vegetable filling. It wasn't in a sauce at all, just some dribbles of balsamic around the plate. DH's starter was more traditional - a home made terrine of meat, served with salad. Mains were fairly simple on the face of it - steak with veggies - but the combinations were again quite different. I can't recall all of the vegetables; in fact there were some I don't know the English name for, but they were yummy. Desserts were again different flavour combinations - my tiramisu was strawberry, rather than the traditional coffee, and had lavendar flowers as a garnish. DH had a trio of desserts, one with gold leaf as garnish.

I had planned to make a Slow Cooked Pizza Pie that is on the cover of the latest issue of my favorite cooking magazine. I prepared it yesterday and the plan was to finish off with the pastry and final oven cooking when I get home from work tonight. As I was cooking the filling in the slow cooker yesterday I realised that it really wasn’t a good idea. DSO hates stews and casseroles, and he doesn’t even really like curries with beef or lamb because he thinks the meat always tastes “stewy”. Then when the filling was done I tasted it, and it even tasted “stewy” to me! I am not going to finish it and I will end up giving the meat to the dogs (once I rinse all the onion from the filling off it). I’m really annoyed, the meat alone cost me over $20. What a bloody waste! So now I don’t know what we’re going to have instead. My dh also hates anything resembling a casserole ... at least your dogs will be super happy
