Grilled pork chops Macaroni Salad Roasted Asparagus
The very fleeting strawberry season is upon us, So my mom picked up 2 quarts of them at the farmers market yesterday. It's so odd to cut into them and see what strawberries are supposed to look like- red all the way through, not light red outside and white inside. It's a shame that we can't get them for more than a few weeks. Anyway, strawberry shortcake for dessert!

I had to scrap Plans A & B, so Plan C is Italian beef in buns and an Italian potato salad. Hopefully that will work because I don't want to have to come up with a Plan D.

Happy Father's Day to your dads and dh/so's who are dads.
I need to use the Costco chicken tonight. I'm looking at recipes now, because it's way too hot to use the oven. So, I'll find something in the IP or stovetop.
Have a fun Sunday.

I made spaghetti sauce a few days ago so we might have spaghetti since that wouldn't entail a trip to Raley's in this heat. DS will leave around 11:00 this morning to go back to the Bay Area. We're going to miss him. It was so nice having him here.

Last night we went to a wine bar/restaurant that our wine tour guide had recommended and it was excellent. We had a really interesting meal - a bit different from all the very 'traditional' food we'd been eating most of the week, and also the best bottle of wine we had all week.
We are just now back in the door from France, so dinner is still a mystery. We stopped for lunch on the way and had a really nice pasta meal, so dinner will likely be something light - there's not much in the house to eat anyway, and all the shops are shut so we can't get groceries. It's not Father's Day either here or in Australia, so we don't have to worry about that.

Super lazy day around here. Dd came over late and we had French toast from a nice loaf of artisan bread that she got free from a restaurant she went to last night. I fixed sausage for Dh, too. Dd had to leave to meet her college roommate who is in town for a couple of days. So, dh and I can eat anything we want tonight without the picky, but lovable child.
He requested cheese enchiladas with homemade sauce. I am about to go make the sauce so we can smell it all through the house - a "free" candle, so to speak.
Thanks for the thread. Your dd's could be cousins to my dd hahaha!

I don't think I'm going to need any dinner, but if I do, there's cheese and crackers. Yesterday was my monthly crop day with friends, so it was Italian food for dinner.

DH's choice is grilled pork tenderloin and assorted vegetables. I picked up The Obesity Code from the library a few weeks ago and DH has snagged it, even taking it with him on his fishing trip. He has been fasting since Friday night and doesn't plan to break the fast until dinner. I think the only way I will get my hands on this book is to buy my own copy.

leannec and KelleeM, I enjoyed "seeing" you today on the Father's Day picture thread. I need to look back and see if any other tribe members posted. I went over to my dad's house this morning to give him a hug and wish him a happy day and then it was off to FIL's house. My FIL (86) broken his ankle Friday night but seemed in pretty good spirits today. We didn't eat with them, just visited. We are finally back home so DH can watch golf and I can get some laundry done. Dinner, at least for DH, will be leftover French Dip I made yesterday in the IP. He loved this new repcipe, so it will be a keeper. I'm playing around online now looking for more new IP recipes for the week ahead. Sure beats turning on the oven or stove in the summer.

DH requested tacos. I made the meat this morning so he can eat whenever he wants. Dd can't eat real food yet and I don't really eat beef tacos. I'll have heartburn all night. I'll find something in the fridge. Eggs maybe.

We're having my husband's favorites. Grilled boneless ribeyes, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and sauteed garlic mushrooms. It's strawberry season so I'm making strawberry shortcake for dessert.
It's just dh, great grandson and I today.

Since DH's birthday is next Saturday (when we will be trapped inside a plane somewhere over the Atlantic) we celebrated today. We ordered pizza, and had cake (lots of cake) for dessert (bløtkake (with fresh blueberries, raspberries and strawberries), verdens beste and an apple/pear/vanilla cake I made for the first time). I think I'll skip breakfast tomorrow, and possibly lunch as well. And DH got his best present ever: a massage chair! My sister and her SO had just bought themselves a new one, and gifted the old chair (a top of the line one, and only a couple of years old) to DH. Every time we visit them, DH can't wait for dinner to be over, so he can "enjoy" that thing, so it really was a perfect gift. For him. I don't want that monstrosity in my living room

We are having filet mignon, lobster, salad, something for a vegetable, crusty bread or pasta (not sure yet) and tomatoes because it's "summer" and we have tomatoes every night during summer.

I was going to make sausage mushroom rigatoni but forgot to thaw the sausage, so I'm making a couple of those pre-made stuffed breaded chicken cordon bleu things and some parmesan rice.

My dad cherishes Father's Day not because it's the day that celebrates him, but it's the US Open and he watches golf all day Friday, records Saturday and watches after he golfs and then all day, UNDISTURBED on Sunday. I tried to make a special meal and he was more about the golf than anything.
There is dessert tonight as I wanted chocolate cake and the other two don't want to eat it so it's mine. DS is hungry now and is eating Japanese food (onigiri, ebi furai aka panko shrimp and karaage aka battered deep-fried chicken). That means we will all eat later.
The vegetable tonight is broccoli. Asparagus is on sale this week, but we might go to Costco and we get it there so I held off. I am kinda itching for some soup again. It is cold here now and making some soup might make sense. Maybe I will do that this week. (If I suggest soup, the powers that be will want beef stew, but it's all good. Something warm and hearty as it's only 12C outside now!)

I had planned to make a Slow Cooked Pizza Pie that is on the cover of the latest issue of my favorite cooking magazine.
I prepared it yesterday and the plan was to finish off with the pastry and final oven cooking when I get home from work tonight. As I was cooking the filling in the slow cooker yesterday I realised that it really wasn’t a good idea. DSO hates stews and casseroles, and he doesn’t even really like curries with beef or lamb because he thinks the meat always tastes “stewy”. Then when the filling was done I tasted it, and it even tasted “stewy” to me! I am not going to finish it and I will end up giving the meat to the dogs (once I rinse all the onion from the filling off it). I’m really annoyed, the meat alone cost me over $20. What a bloody waste!
So now I don’t know what we’re going to have instead.

Last month's Cook's Country had a banana chocolate cake recipe. I have made it twice and everyone really enjoyed it. Banana anything baking in the oven always makes the house smell delicious. @jeremysmom, I'm so coming over to your house.
