DH who knows EVERYTHING claims he can't wear black underwear to work cause it's too hot. He works outside. Now I thought dark colors were warmer cause they absorbed the sun. So unless he is working in his skivvies only, I doubt it matters. What say the peas?

I literally just laughed out loud at this.
I'd have to go with a no, but your DH sounds hilarious!

is his black underwear made of different fabric? Like more polyester and less cotton than his whites? That would make a difference.

No. I'm cold all the time and dark underwear does nothing to keep me warmer.

He must work in his underwear. Black undies will absorb more heat than say yellow drawers. What does he do? And please provide pics.

I prefer to wear black undies everyday. I have a hard time finding black undies at the store for purchase.
I also prefer to wear black ankle socks too.

LOL! Yes, unless he's out there in just his underwear, it shouldn't be an issue.

For fabrics to be dyed a darker color sometimes manufacturers will use a slightly heavier weight to ensure an ever and thorough dying process. It isn't as easy to get lightweight fabric/fibers to hold dark dye. It may not be perceptible or noticeable to you, but the darker colors may be slightly thicker so they feel hotter.

LOL! No, but my mom always said sexy underwear (usually black in her opinion) gave you impure thoughts! Ha!

Unless they are thicker I can't see how they would make you warmer. I just checked with my DH and he said he doesn't feel a difference.

It would be simple because they were black, but because of the fabric. And I agree with poster above that talked about fabrics and dyeing. It really is harder for fabrics to take darker dye that way - so the fabric could very well be a little "heavier".

This cracked me up for that reason alone you should honor his request of black work undies.

Unless he's an underwear model (and if he is, good for you) I think he's just psyched himself out.

I could see how his black underwear might make YOU hot, but I'm not understanding how it is going to absorb the sun through his outer clothing!

This made me laugh I'd say he can wear whatever color he wants, but no, unless he's walking around in his underwear, the color will have no effect on his body heat ... as far as I know
