It's the hottest day of our heatwave. Help me Auntie Em. I'm melting. I don't want to heat up the house anymore than I have to. So, it'll be tacos or maybe teriyaki chicken bowl. I'm leaving it up to dh. Frankly, I think ice cream for dinner sounds best in this weather.
What's on your menu?
Have a fantastic Thursday.

You can send me a bit of it It's 17 C today, so not exactly "summer". I made salmon soup and garlic bread today, and I found the first strawberries of the season in the grocery store! Despite today's cold weather, summer is here! Oh my gods! The flavour is sooo different from the Belgian ones we buy the rest of the year. (And I had cake for lunch, since I have to clean out the fridge before we leave tomorrow).

It's hot here too, so once again we'll be cooking outside on the grill. Tonight I am making a Nicoise Salad, but with fresh grilled tuna rather than canned. I'll toss the salad together while DH cooks the fish.

I need a dinner that can be eaten at ?? o'clock so I'm going with sandwiches. I'll mix up egg salad, tuna, and chicken salads and I have an assortment of bread products. I'll also make a brussels sprout salad.

Dh is making "chop suey" which is another French Canadian dish his mom made. It's ground beef, onions, celery and beans sprouts with soy sauce and a lot of water...I eat it as a soup but he puts it over a hamburger bun but eats it with a fork. No mushy buns for me!!

Well, I am 1-4 this week on "guessing" what we'll eat for dinner. We went out last night instead of eating leftovers. So I think we'll HAVE to eat leftovers tonight.
We're having a potluck at work today, with grilled hamburgers (I think). I made a crunchy pea salad.

It's only 17C here still so I am not sure what I will make for dinner at this point. I want something good.
I looked online at the grocery store and they have the Argentine shrimp that DS likes so I will make them. I am glad that was that easy.
There will be salad, some sort of green vegetable, tomatoes and I want a cucumber.

I honestly didn't plan this far into the week, so I will probably grab pizza on my way home. Trying to make decent meals on days the guys play softball is wearing on me. They need to eat between 530 and 545. I get home at 5:10.

SO will be painting after work so I will (sing with me) ALL BY MYSEEEELLLFFF. And I will love it. I have big plans to get into the office and de-clutter/clean. We will see how this pans out. Went to lunch with a friend and have half of my chicken parm left, that will be my dinner.

I am hungry for goulash tonight so I think I will make that and see how it goes....It is supposed to rain later this afternoon and cool off to 55 tonight, it would be nice if the humidity would leave for a few days. Up until last night it cooled off at night so we could sleep with the windows open. Next month the humidity will come and camp out until all the corn is harvested the tail end of August so I really enjoy this time of year with the windows open at night......I get so tired of AC and humidity but yet I wait all winter for summer......
Happy Thursday Everyone!

It's cleaning ladies day and usually we do carry out, but one of our ladies brought us some fresh sour dough bread from a local bakery and omg, is it delicious! Soft and tasty with a crisp, chewy crust. Soooo, we're having breakfast for dinner (bacon, eggs, yada, yada) with sour dough toast. I can't wait! DH is going to the bakery to get more and maybe a lemony dessert too!

I'm going easy on myself and just bake up a frozen Costco lasagna ... dh loves it but complains that it isn't on his "diet" I'm not sure if dd#1's boyfriend will be here for dinner ... he comes a lot so he must like my food Meat and poultry are turning me off right now ... I'm supposed to focus on protein since my gastric bypass in 2006 ... I'm now learning to find it in other sources like beans So I will be enjoying leftover Southwestern salad ... black beans should be in every salad

We are getting the outer bands of TS Cindy here. Not much wind, but a lot of rain. For DH's dinner I'll be making Beef Stroganoff in the IP. I was a late adopter of the IP and thought I would only use it in the winter for stews and soups, but I love using it in the summer even more. I'll be having yogurt with fresh blueberries and raspberries. I think we have cookies for later. DH started a new job today and came home very happy with his first day. He's been through so much with his health in the last 10 years, we are very excited to have him back to work. Some weeks we are almost like normal people.

tuesdaysgone, best of luck to your DH! KelleeM, your DH's chop suey sounds suspicially close to my mom's bean sprout casserole. Made with canned bean sprouts and cream of mushroom soup. Topped with crushed potato chips. When we were kids it was a favorite meal only because we had the left over chips as a side dish. sueg, Salad Nicoise is one of my favorites! It will only be DS and I for dinner so I've given him cash to pick up whatever he wants and I will poke through the fridge. My money is on Panda Express coming home.

Went out to lunch for my bff's birthday. I had a salmon sandwich off the bread. I like bread but not super thick bread. Then for dinner dd and I split pulled pork off the bun.

DS came home at 10 pm from work. Thursday is the night he can fix his own car so he and some work friends were doing "car stuff" like break pads or fluid and something else I didn't know but he provided hand gestures showing what they were doing with the stuff. I just nodded my head and agreed with him that he is rightfully tired. He loved the shrimp, pasta and broccoli and tomatoes. Then he went to bed.
I thought dinner was really good. I bought some shrimp skewers as well as the prawns and they were excellent. I did them on the bbq.
The pasta was this cut-short, thin, angel hair that's German and we both love it. It was a winner for both of us.
There was also cake eaten. Chocolate ganache.
