It is currently in the courts there. My limited research shows that they are not to sell the boxes preloaded and anti piracy laws are being looked at. Currently it isn't illegal because you aren't downloading the content, only streaming it. Ethically, since not currently illegal, it is still stealing. The result (for me) is that by working around the system you (general you) are still screwing the people who should be getting paid for the content. I hope that the laws catch up with technology. Our whole system is flawed. Cable and satellite are way overpriced and expensive. TV providers are making a killing. It is not illegal here to stream. If it were, they couldn't sell them anywhere. They are sold everywhere here. Until the law passes, not illegal. Ethically, maybe so, but not illegal. Shrugs sounds like the same arguments used when Napster first started. The revenues generated pay for everybody involved in creation of those shows/movies by streaming them instead of paying for them people are keeping money they earned from them. I hope it becomes illegal soon and people get the same fines and penalty as those who were downloading them.

Well don't hold your breath. Even the networks here have free apps to download and watch shows. They actually even advertise to get them.

For Freecharlie- I (and most Cdns) feel that we have been ripped off for YEARS when it comes to cable services. My choices are Rogers and Bell and they both charge an arm and a leg and they both don't give a crap about their customers. Terrible, terrible service. I'm happy to go around this service.

Enjoy! You won't just save money, you will gain freedom. We've always been on an antennae. We watch a lot of Netflix particularly during the summer. I really can't imagine having to watch everything on someone else's schedule.

We haven't had cable since 1994. We also don't have any of the streaming sites like Netflix or Hulu. We also do not get any local free stations. I guess we are in a dead zone because our cellphones don't work very well in the house either.
We just have a lot of taped shows from before DVDs and DVDs from when they started. (We re-watch shows alot!). The only thing my husband says he has ever missed is the baseball, so I got him a subscription to MLB.TV, which he happens to be watching as I type this. He likes to watch all the teams so it is worth it.
We also watch a lot of stuff on YouTube and get DVDs out of the libraries around us.
We haven't missed cable at all, especially all the commercials!

I wish we got some of the great services here in canada like Hulu I would probably go for it if we did. Can you watch shows like Survivor/amazing race and big brother on it?
