French Peas-- baby gift question

Our first exchange student just had a baby and I want to send her a gift. What is traditionally given as gifts when a baby us born? Generally I would give some clothes or books. Unfortunately here I can probably only find English books. I may have to check about ordering some of my favorites in French and sending them over.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks so much.
