I'm sorry. You sound really frustrated.
Insurance agencies frequently look for admins and don't advertise their openings. Our agency's reps rely heavily on existing admins to refer someone who might be a good fit. Email your resume to every insurance agent and management office in the area that you can find. You never know what you might find.
Good Luck! The right job will come. It will.

I'll have to agree with the others on signing up with a temp agency. I agree with scrapmaven that it helps to sign up with multiple agencies. That way you can fill your schedule better, especially at first. I've done it many times due to frequent moves, and have even landed permanent jobs that way. You've mentioned a possible move to another state, so temp jobs might be an excellent way to fill your time before your family makes that move! Good luck on lining up something.

It's brutal out there right now, especially for those of us of a certain age. I have two dear friends who have been out of work for a year. I worry about becoming physically unable to teach (i do a lot of jumping, dancing, and getting up and down from "criss cross applesauce" position) - your skill set sounds so employable! I hope something great comes your way, and SOON.

This is such a stressful time for you, I'm sorry!
Have you gone to your county's employment department? Have them look over your resume. They could also help you to find a job. Also, the employment agencies can help.
I hope you find a job soon!
Edit: Oops, sorry. I see everyone has already given this advice.

Have you considered working in a school? This set of skills would be ideal for a school secretary, registrar, office or records manager. I work in a very large system but we have those roles open constantly and are hiring numerous roles at this time. So funny you brought this up. I did work for a school between the long term job and the one I am at now. I was the Registrar. And I got fired. (I really sound pathetic don't I?) Long story but I complained about a co-worker one day after trying so hard to ignore her behavior for months (on the phone with personal problems at least an hour a day, talking about parents and staff behind their backs, even the principal, not business like at all) the next day, I am the one that got fired. (not that I wanted her fired)... because I made a mistake in booking a bus for a field trip. The trip worked out but still I made the mistake. Funny the girl that got hired after me (she is very nice and I have talked to her a lot), had much less responsibility than I did. Got her own office, didn't have to answer phones, didn't have to greet all the parents and kids who came up to the front window, didn't have to do the newsletter and didn't have to sit next to Ms. Personal Problem all day long listening to her stories over and over again. I probably would have done the job MUCH better if I had all that! I really did love that job and was heartbroken when it happened. Good thing out of it, the director (principal) said if there was ever another job similar to open up that I would be welcome back.. of course that hasn't happened. That is super crappy on many levels. I'm sorry that happened, it sounds very unprofessional an experience.

Thanks EVERYONE!!! My BFF from high school is coming out tomorrow and so the rest of the week I am going to try to ignore all this!! Although I do have a test Wednesday morning to move up to the next level in the hiring process (a government job). Next week after she is gone I will look into some of those staffing places and give them a call or call this week and get interviews or whatever I need to do for the following week.
I am sorry to put my crappy old life out here again. Just seems like that is all I do lately.

Hugs to you. I know how frustrating this can be. At one point I was unemployed for almost two years. We lost everything. It was just terrible. I did work for a couple of temp agencies and that definitely helped me maintain a more positive outlook.

Hang in there. We're rooting for you. Another recommendation to look into temp agency work. I got a permanent job out of a long-term temp assignment and you have the benefit of exploring the company culture before signing on permanently.

I went into Wendys the other day. They now have automated ordering. You go in, place your order on a large order board touch screen and pay right there. Then you take your receipt to the counter and your order is there. Now how many people who can only get or do fast food work now lost their opportunity to even work as a cashier or bagger?
Walmart has 2 lanes open and everyone else lines up so I can check myself out and bag my stuff. Each self serve check out is a person's job who is now unemployed. Hotels don't want you to change your sheets or towels for the environment. That's a maid with no job now since it takes fewer maids to make up rooms.
Soon there will be no jobs. College grads haven't been able to get jobs for years now. A friend has worked as an insurance adjuster for years. Now everyone uploads their accident photos and no claim adjuster comes out, so they cut 50% of their adjusters and the others were told they had to move 3 states away where they were consolidating their work force.
My son is almost a senior in college - got a teacher assistant job for $15K. He can't even afford a $400 a month apt if he could even find one. My other son graduated college in Dec- works full time for $12 an hour. My son's ex gf works full time in a day care and has had her water turned off for non payment and been taken to court for missed rent but lives in a high crime, low income apt and can't make it.
Anyway, my point is that it's not you. It's jobs. There are 5 gazillion people available for a few jobs. You have to know someone who is in a position to hire you. My son had to compete for his $15K teacher aide job and it requires 60+ college credits. They almost always hire from within.
It is very discouraging and unfair. We don't know what to get certifications in anymore because the work force is changing rapidly.

You said you were good at what you do, so now you have to believe in yourself. I truly think if you can focus on where you want to be and have confidence in yourself, it will come to you. I know it sounds somewhat corny, but it will work. Think of all of the different details that you excelled at. You said you planned a seminar each year for 100 people. Could you do event planning? Embellish a little if you can on what you can do and your qualifications. It sounds like your organizational skills are excellent. Maybe you could work at a doctor's office. Just continue to play up on your positive attributes and have an attitude that you will kick ass on your interviews.

Btdt a lot in the last 7 years. Relocated to Georgia and it's been rough. It's finally a bit better for me, but there were many long days and nights.
Temp agencies are great. Many larger companies will only hire through them. It will give you something until something else breaks through. The more agencies you are with, the greater your odds. Keep remembering that the right job is there for you. It may not be ready yet, or you may not be ready for it.
Hugs.

I’m sorry you’re going through that, it must be so incredibly stressful. I hope you find something soon. I will also add another vote for contacting an agency to get some temp work in the meantime. So many people I know who have done this have ended up with full time employment from a temp assignment – including the girl who was temping when I was on maternity leave. 13 years later she is still working with us! (Another position came up just before I returned after 8 months off.) Best of luck to you.

No relevant professional advice, but I am sending you virtual hugs! It isn't uncommon for there to be hundreds of applicants for jobs these days. We saw it firsthand this year with my husband job searching. I hope the right permanent job comes to you soon.
If you have a reliable car, uber, lyft, food delivery and amazon courier services (if available where you live) are good paying jobs. My husband works 2 jobs and his second has a higher hourly wage with tips! It might not be what you want long term, but it might help you for a while. Retail jobs pick up during holiday season and many stores keep on their temp staff (easier to get hired as a temp) if they are quality workers! Again, lots of hugs and well wishes!

You've gotten some great advice, and I wanted to offer support and say that many of us have been there at some point in looking for a job. It can be quite demoralizing and confusing to have skills and experience and yet be overlooked in applying for positions.
My advice, as someone who has been hiring for quite a while, is to decide which jobs you are most interested in and keep following up. Employers receive many resumes, and it's easy to overlook them, but when someone checks back in once or even twice, I take a second look. Sometimes that is all it takes.
Also shorten up your resume. Too many jobs makes a person look older than they are and as if they can't hold down a job. Keep a few in there that are most relevant and get rid of the rest, even if you have to fudge dates. Don't worry about continuity in dates. Many women take time off between jobs and it's not an issue. I've read too many resumes that have a few great positions listed, but then have unrelated things like waitressIng that detract and distract.
Best wishes to you.

You have a history of terminations from short term jobs and even with explanations that could be deterring folks from hiring you. Could you omit those jobs from your work history since they were seasonal and short term? You should change your name here at 2peas and start visualizing wealth/increase.
