American Crafts is just wiping out competition and we get repetition and reduced quality.
So sad. It is not good for scrapbooking.

Oh no. Someone make them stop. I'm not a big DCWV user, but that brand may be adversely affected by this purchase. Just like WrMK albums. Thanks for letting us know. Maria

Interesting. Someone had posted on one of these boards that DCWV had ceased operations about two weeks (maybe a little less) ago. I googled around for information and found nothing at the time. Now I know why.

Swell I know they aren't a favorite on this board, but I truly appreciate the diverse amount of pads they produce. I DO like a good theme and I'm okay with some of their thinner pattern paper. It's generally not the base of my page. I've also always been pleased with their cardstock. All I can think is we are going to see much more pink, gold, watercolors, and brush script handwriting.

Not fan of DCWV but it's the principle of it. What is AC going to do different with this line? A lot of Their lines already have similar designs. A couple of years ago I bought 3 different paper pads and they all had a page with large dots/circles, one that looked like a blueprint, and one that was sort of an Ariel view of boat slips. They were just different colors in each line.
I think I was saddest when they purchased WRMK. That company was known more for albums and tools. Quality control being what it is (or isn't) at AC makes me think twice now before I by that brand.

I was surprised and glad to see that people were posting their dislike of this on AC's post about this on Facebook. Usually the Facebook posts are nicey nice all positive so AC probably didn't expect any backlash either.

I refuse to buy DCWV paper because of the glitter and that plasticky gloss they use on half of the papers in each pad... if AC gets rid of that it will be an improvement...
I'm not a big AC fan, unless I find something for 2.99 at Tuesday Morning... too much pink, pastel, gold, floral and watercolor for my taste.
What doesn't AC own now?

I haven't bought anything by them in a while but still not happy. I liked their cardstock pads of course I bought them at least 5 years ago.

Another company swept under the AC umbrella never to be distinctive again... ...I think I was saddest when they purchased WRMK. That company was known more for albums and tools. Quality control being what it is (or isn't) at AC makes me think twice now before I by that brand. While saddened about WRMK, which had recently bought Quickutz before acquired by AC, I also miss Bazzill (although I understand its original owners are the creative force behind MME My Colors cardstock).

While I haven't bought anything from DCWV in years I still find it concerning that AC owns so much of the industry.

I know they aren't a favorite on this board, but I truly appreciate the diverse amount of pads they produce. I like them. I've bought several through the years, and I liked their designs and price point, and my ability to find them in stores where I shop. find it concerning that AC owns so much of the industry. This. I also find it so boring that they hold the monopoly on the sb industry. Everything they make looks similar.

If AC tanks, what are we going to be left with? The only "good" thing (not that it would be good if AC does tank) is that there is such an abundance of printable scrapbook stuff online, that we could, feasibly, buy printable embellishments and paper online, upload it to Office Depot or Staples, have it printed on cardstock, and go to work. Because, washi tape will not disappear entirely if AC is gone. Cardstock will still be a product we can buy (though I don't know if 12x12 will still be available. But 8.5x11 has been around and will be around). There is still a ton of stamping stuff. Ink will still be with us. Stickers will remain with us. They've been around for decades. Sequins, ribbon, buttons. All will still be available. So, while it would be different, and maybe harder, it would still be doable.

I like DCWV and I'm tired of the sameness of every AC produces and the fact that they buy up and homogenise so many good companies

Brace yourselves for the onslaught of pastel pinks, bluish greens and an abundance of weird prints with animals.
I hope they continue with the DCWV shimmer stacks. My daughters use the heck out of the shimmer stacks for school projects.

Nope. They are AC. They are a Dear Lizzy, Amy Tan or Shimelle type of brand.

Thickers. Same puffy sticker format. Yep. I think they were a small brand (not sure if they/she were/was a blogger, etsy shop, independent brand or what they were) before but their scrapbooking releases are from American Crafts.
