I'd start a list, but AC might see it as 'potential targets'. Wrong to laugh? Just a little? In a sad way?

This is totally unrelated to the topic at hand, but I used to work in a big box craft store in Provo, Utah. (I still work for that craft store, just in a different state now.) Because Provo is the nexus of the scrapbooking world, our store got a lot of attention from vendors. I remember there were a couple of guys who worked for DCWV who used to come in and check things out. For reference, this was around the time the first premium stacks were coming out (Far East, Once Upon A Time) and they were a HUGE deal because previously DCWV had only done stacks with thin patterned paper. Anyway, these guys would come check it and during this time period they had updated the graphics on their packaging. When they came in one time they saw we still had some of the stacks with the old packaging so they said they'd bring us replacements next time they came, which was very cool of them.
We also had a merchandise manager who was really not a good manager. There was this new endcap that was supposed to set with DCWV product and because she hadn't gotten around to it yet, she topstocked the items. When DCWV came in and saw their brand new merchandise sitting on top of an aisle still in the packages, they brought it down and started setting the endcap themselves. She came over, saw what they were doing and got all huffy and said, "Well, now I'll just have to fix it after they leave!" Eeek, can you imagine?
Final story. One day I was working stocking seasonal products and this older gentleman came in. He said he was from a company called American Crafts and they were going to start selling ribbon with us but wanted to optimize how the displays went on the shelves so the shelves were slanted to better show off the product. I helped him come up with a couple different options. At the time, I had never heard of American Crafts but soon after they really started exploding. I always felt like I was there at the start of it, lol.
Anyway, not super relevant but just fun tidbits to share. Hopefully someone enjoyed them!

Well 💩! Not that I'm a DCWV fan, just don't like the monopoly forming and the lack of variety that follows.

I guess as an alternative to closing down or fading away (October Afternoon), selling to AC is a marginally better option. I want to be happy about these announcements but AC is just too homogenized. They clearly have a small group of designers working on each line.. Each line they acquire eventually loses whatever it was that made them unique prior to the acquisition. It's really a shame.

Despite the dislike for AC. I would not want them to go under. I like having as many options as possible. Washi can go away, but Thickers are forever!

Selling to Echo Park would be nicer given the fact that CB already has one of their designers.

I like DCWV and love their Shimmer paper, and their glitter paper. Hope they still make them the same way after American Crafts takes over. American Crafts are my least favorite craft company.

Considering I have 20 + stacks, this is the monopoly of my scrappy stash. I love their quirkier designs like no prob llama and good eats that just came out. Hope they continue to offer a wide variety of stacks.

It occurred to me last night that with Heidi Swapp doing the letter boards at 2-4x the cost of the DCWV ones, is there going to be a non compete between the brands and the DCWV ones will go away in favor of the pricier ones? A half inch alphabet that I want from HS is $12.99 (still more than regular price of the DCWV ones with a 40% off coupon at HL) and the 2 inch ones with MORE LETTERS from DCWV is $5.99 regular price (I paid about $3 with taxes for them using a 60% off coupon at J's).

Very grateful that there are so many European brands available, hopefully AC will stay away from those.
