Here's the deal. I need to find a great Android pedometer app that will link with My Fitness Pal. I had been using Pedometer Pro and really liked it. However, at some point it started randomly losing my data. I would finish a walk and the data from that walk would just be gone. It happened about half the time. I bought the Runtastic app by the same company because it had good reviews and it's got some great features. It's for running and I'm a walker, but so what. I just want to track my distance, speed and calories. I really like how it tells me when I've reached each mile. It also tells me what my pace is. I don't have to look at the screen to know how I'm doing. What's bad about this app is that it is way out of whack with calories. According to the charts I've found, I burn about 100 calories per mile. I walked 5.5 miles yesterday at 3 mph and it told me I burned over 1300 calories! I went into MFP to change the calories burned that had uploaded and the history said that my exercise was running 1 hour 50 minutes at 5 mph. No wonder the calories are so far off!
So, I've now downloaded and tried Track My Fitness. It's got an automatic pause, which is great for waiting at traffic lights. However, it randomly pauses my workout even when I'm still moving. It seemed to get the calories right though, but the continual voice saying "session paused" "session resumed" drove me nuts because I listen to audiobooks through my headphones while walking. It also records my 3 mph walk as a 5 mph run and it only tells me minutes per mile, not miles per hour.
So the search for the perfect pedometer app for walking continues. I don't want a separate device because my Galaxy S4 does have a built in pedometer and GPS. Any recommendations?
