I remember on the old board, there were several Candy Crush threads, but since I didn't play it, I never read them.
I know I'm was late to the party, but I found myself with an hour, and I didn't have my book with me, so I downloaded CC. I was doing good, but I don't want to pay or link to FB. I just finished level 35, and seriously, I have to wait 3 days to move on? Any other ways to move on? I'm thinking of just deleting it...or see if I remember to do a quest each day. I didn't understand how the game made so much money...now I do!
Who else got sucked in?

I didn't want to link to FB at first but then I finally did. But I got to a level that was too hard and not fun so I quit. I think it was close to 400 or maybe above 400. Now I've been playing Dragon Gems which doesn't require FB at all (so far).

I have asked friends in the past through FB. Never paid to move up.
There is "Odus" the owl. He does not require help or money. It is like "a game within a game." Those levels are harder.

I've been playing it for over a year and linked to Facebook quite early on. I'm at level 635 and haven't spent much if anything. About the time I think I finally have gotten to the end they add new levels. It is frustrating but I still like it.

I made 2 dummy facebook pages (one for dh and one for the dog) that I use (along with my dd's) to get the three requests to move on..... DH's page started getting a lot of friend requests....so I had to fess up so his family and friends wouldn't think he was ignoring them. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

You either have to wait, connect to Facebook or pay. They have to make money somehow.
Right now my friends and I are playing cookie crush more.

I linked mine to Facebook. I don't see what the big deal is. You'll quickly see who you are FB friends with that also plays.. and then you can send each other lives!
I've been playing for over a year now and am on level 647.. I've bought a couple of extra sets of lives here and there (mostly last year when I was pregnant and stuck waiting hours for blood tests and NSTs) but never have paid any other money to move on or buy boosters or anything else.

You can't move on because you need more lives? I never connected with FB to get more lives. All you have to do is trick your device into thinking it's the next day. Go to settings then time, unclick auto and then set your clock 24 hours ahead. Go back to game, it will have 5 more lives BUT before you start playing, go back to settings and reset the time to auto to get correct time. That way when you run out of lives, just go back and do same thing and reset to next day. If you forget to go back to auto time before you start to play again, you'll find you end up having to wait like 200 hours before you can get more lives. Does that make sense. You can do it for any game that times you out.

So far, when I ran out of lives, I decided that was a good time to stop playing! I forgot to add...thanks for the time trick!

No, it doesn't automatically send friend requests. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't put updates on your page unless you agree to it. Or maybe I had to ask it not to... I honestly can't remember. But I do know that no one gets a request from me unless I send it, and there aren't game updates on my FB page.

I passed level 500 on FB and decided it's probably a good time to quit that one. Most of my friends have quit, and it's harder to get people to send me lives. But I still play the DreamWorld side of it with the owl. I really dislike that freakin' owl. I've been stuck on level 210 for a few days now. If anyone needs a FB friend in order to get more lives, you're welcome to friend me. I think there's a way to send a private message here, right? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

I connected mine to Facebook. I haven't spent anything to play. I'm on level 545. When I get stuck on a level for more than a few weeks, I go and back replay lower levels, which has really helped to sharpen my skills.
Also, here's my trick for unlimited lives when you play on Facebook. Open Candy Crush in a whole bunch of windows. The first window will give you 5 lives and each of the others will give you 1 each. I usually open 5 or 6 windows and by the time I play through them all, enough time has gone by that I have earned another life. And then I play through again.

My husband plays CC and doesn't connect to Facebook. I guess there are challenges he does to get from one level to the next. Does that sound right? I was playing via Facebook and finally quit the habit at around level 375. I was doing no reading anymore, just game playing. I miss it like I missed cigarettes when I quit them...

You have to do it in these steps. 1: Game tells you no more lives, 2: go to settings, set time forward, 3: go back to game, click X to start new game, EXIT! 4: go back to settings and change to auto or correct time, 5: then go back to play game. Clear as mud? Is that what you did?

Do you do that on your phone? How do you open multiple windows of a game?
I also want to clarify, the only reason I won't pay for the game is because my fun frivolous money goes toward books! I do understand the game designers need to make money, but for me, I'd rather buy a book from my local used bookstore for a few dollars.
I am curious, though, if you do pay, what do you get? If you don't pass a level and pay, do you just pass that one level? How many lives do you get if you pay for them?
