...the road rage case in Chester County, Pa? Notice all the coverage focusing on his character? How many of his former co-workers will they find to interview? This is what happens when you are a white man "accused" of killing someone with a registered gun. Everyone talks about how nice of a kid you were or how you loved drag racing You are utterly ridiculous anymore. I think it's a fair and reasonable conclusion that most peas know your agenda. Just like you do with going back to the "spreadsheet" looking up all those posts you "liked" to find for easy reference, other peas also can do the same with your history and the words you say--so again, it's not hard to come to a conclusion of what your agenda here is and has been. I’m still waiting for someone to tell me what the fuck my agenda was! I would be downright ASHAMED if I were some of you peas. I know you aren’t but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be. Not even from an I told you so perspective but to see how easy it was for people to speak to me the way that you did. And then vilify me! I laugh now but boy did these threads use to hurt my feelings.

I've been following it and isn't that the way it always is? The wrongdoer is always a nice, quiet person and people are surprised that this happened. How often do you hear anyone say they were completely f'd up in the head and they knew it was just a matter of time until they snapped?

We are always vilified guilty or innocent.

Yes I have been, because it's fairly local to me. I haven't noticed anyone commenting on his character other than to note what a lowlife psycho he must be to kill a girl like that, especially over something so trivial as merging.
They are now focusing on motive, from what I read this morning, to determine if rather than simple road rage if there was a racial component.

It's not local to me yet somehow I know the killer loves drag racing and worked a blue collar welding job of some kind. I don't know any small fact about the 18 year old he murdered outside of the fact that she was a recent high school graduate...like a lot of 18 year old kids. The guy in Chicago who told the black people in Starbucks they were slaves and then sucker punked a homeless man...yet you guessed it tons of "character witnesses". He isn't racist, just mentally ill they said. Like the two aren't mutually exclusive

How often do you hear anyone say they were completely f'd up in the head and they knew it was just a matter of time until they snapped? actually - there was a botched burglary turned murder and all the comments were how fucked up the burglar was been nuts his whole life but back to the OP - how do you convince the media to treat the accused the same across the board? gina

I know what tree you're trying to bark up, Olan, but I think it's the wrong one here. I seem to remember Michael Brown being a sweet, teddy bear. A simple teen boy that was innocently walking down the street when a mean old white man decided, just out of the blue, to shoot him.
the media is going to spin their stories, release their sparsely researched nuggets, however it is going to sell best. Race only factors in when it serves the bottom line.

The charged person usually has someone who gets in front of a microphone declaring what a nice person he/she is. This has been happening forever. White, black, roygbiv...the arrested always has a person willing to say he/she is great. It really doesn't matter if it's a violent crime or not.
My memory stinks but I think I read she was going to college...I want to say to become a nurse. Again, my memory may not be reliable.
It's a senseless crime that deserves the maximum sentence.
I have someone related to me who was charged with shoplifting. The only person who can't believe it is her mother. Everyone else in the ifamily isn't surprised and won't be surprised when she's picked up for something else. Her mother will continue to live in denial that she doesn't have an angel.

For at least 24 hours she was the only known component of this case so you'd think someone could spin up a story to tell us where she was accepted or something. And we can bet that every white man fitting his description or driving a red pick up truck wasn't pulled over during the days that followed. It didn't happen.

I hear you, olan. It is systemic racism at play when it comes to media coverage.
Not sure if you saw the articles about finding Thomas Jefferson's "mistress" Sally Hemings's residence/room. Um, she was a slave. Not a mistress. Mistress implies choice.
So, I get you. I very much wonder if this young lady would be dead if she was white.

I can't remember what school she was going to but it was mentioned many times here. Her cousins just performed at the WaWa Hoagie Fest and her father was interviewed, as her family has been numerous times.
The only thing I know about the man is that he has a red truck, he turned himself in after a "massive manhunt" (the term the news used), and he bought the gun legally in 2015.
There has been an outpouring of sympathy for the victim and her family, locally anyway.
I'm glad to know they're digging into his character and background, it might help them decide whether he will be charged with a hate crime or not.

Bianca Roberson liked to play basketball, she liked watching sports. She was a happy and joyful person. She just gratuated from Rustin high school and planned to attend Jacksonville university in Florida. She hoped to one day be an FBI agent. Just prior to her murder she was shopping with her grandmother.
I don't know where you get your news from but I don't know anything about her killer except his name, his mug shot, that he was an asshat in a red pickup with a 40caliper gun. The incident was caught on traffic cams. The police had plenty of evidence. We could all benefit from selecting better news sources

So this time is definitely is about your media choices and what you choose to look for and what you choose to see. I knew infirmation about Bianca was out there because I had already read things about her. But I checked again before I posted to be sure. Less than a minute plenty of information about what a wonderful person she was. No one is trying to hide that she was smart, joyful, young person who did not deserve to be murdered. You can 'wink' all you want to but that does make it so. Sometimes your creating what YOU want to see instead of what's really there. But carry on, your going to anyway.

I agree I could have found the coverage you found if I had went searching as you did but my point was when a white man commits a crime he is a great co-worker and avid xyz. No matter how heinous his crime is. I didn't have to try to gather that information at all. It was given to me. I had to search for how this massive manhunt ended and even from that article I only learned that Bianca was on her way home from shopping with female relatives no other humanizing details or those interviews with her family. I'd love to know why the massive manhunt didn't result in him being apprehended by police. Dude was likely able to have a final meal with friends, have a couple drag races, and sit down with his attorney to plan a defense. If the suspect was black you'd probably have at least two dead innocent black men they pulled over in red pick up trucks.

When they are black men. Usually they are so dead they can't defend themselves but no one interviews the gas station owner, or the kid at the Montessori school to shed light on the character of black people. We are always vilified guilty or innocent. I don't think that is true in all cases. I know many details about Philando Castile. How he worked in the school cafeteria. how all the kids loved him, etc etc. I also know his problems with traffic tickets, and the cops work history.

Maybe it's my news sources but I haven't seen anything positive about the guy who killed her. News said he was quiet but that's not really positive. I'll admit I haven't watched any network coverage at all. Just some local Philly pieces Frankly I don't care what he was, he's a dirtbag and I would look for info about him at all. He doesn't deserve my time. Only thing I want to hear about him is he's convicted and sentenced. She on the other hand deserves my time to read about her.

I agree with you hop2Our local news was reporting on this- When this happened, all we knew was all about her, what she had been doing (shopping with relatives) and that she had just graduated, was a beautiful, bright soul and on her way to college in the fall. I heard/read comments from her relatives about how wonderful a girl she was. The only thing that I heard about the shooter was "red truck" "male" and "possible road rage". I think that the video footage the police immediately obtained and put out for people to view to have the population help find the shooter was a good thing, and when they did find the vehicle, the evidence led to a quick arrest, another good thing. The media is quoting people who knew the shooter. It's not wrong that they stated he was a calm, good (whatever) guy. It's how those people knew him. I believe that especially in this instance, if anyone of those who knew him thought him to be a gun toting psycho, they would have said that and the media reported that. The police are certainly not saying anything other than it being such a heinous crime.

The criminal turned himself in; because the police had identified him. They have charged him with both first and third degree murder. The police are now looking into both of their lives to see if he followed her or had any other interactions with her. They want to charge him with everything they can. Olan, I have not seen or heard anything nice said about this guy. In fact, just the opposite. It has angered many people. Can you imagine how her mom and grandmother feel? They had just been shopping with her at the mall and then she never came home; because of this creep.

For the record I am not suggesting that the media tried to paint Bianca in a negative light. How could they? What I am pointing out is how there is never a rush to vilify the monsters who shoot teenage girls merging into traffic. Why aren't white men treated as dangerous as they have actually proven themselves to be? Guess who kill LEOs in far greater numbers than black people yet a cop is always afraid for his life while pulling over black men/women. How?
Meanwhile innocent (dead) black people have to work backwards by convincing society why they didn't deserve a bullet in head though they were unarmed and hadn't been caught killing someone in cold blood on camera. I mean really think about who commits mass murders or has the highest propensity for violence. Did white men get lynched? Are black men most likely to commit rape? Who forcibly brought who here? Who carried out atrocities against several different ethnic groups? Who is ruining America right now? I mean seriously.
Also did anyone notice how everyone loves discussing the Michael Browns (who deserve to live) but never want to discuss the Jordan Edward's outside of suggesting he would still be alive if he hadn't been at a party with underage drinking like one pea had the audacity to say.

This is somewhat local to me so it's been all over the news and social media. I have heard or read nothing about the guy other than the color of his truck, that the police received hundreds of tips, his gun was registered and he turned himself in. EVERY single comment I have read was about him being a scum for doing this. Do a search for the story on WPVI, WCAU or CBS 3 Facebook pages and see what everyone has said.

The issue isn't my media choices or that I haven't searched enough. I get that more thorough/factual news stories are available. My point is when I searched "road rage murder" to see if they had caught the killer the first news story mentions "even keeled" "renovating his home with a male roommate" "nice kid" "blue collar" etc. in the same article it mentions about half that "endearing" information about the victim. Why? Her family wasn't made aware that her death was caused by a gun shot wound to the head until Thursday evening. Sunday at 2:30 a.m. after a massive manhunt he turns himself in? How massive was the manhunt? How many white men in red pick up trucks were stopped in the state of PA between Wednesday and Sunday? That's information I would like. Not what monsters like to do in their free time.
