I'm finally going to make the teriyaki chicken bowl I've tried to make the past 3 nights. Last night dh grilled corn and everyone just wanted leftovers. Tonight I'll cook. Oldest ds will be at work, but dh and youngest ds will be home and really enjoy this meal.
What's on your menu?
Have a fantastic Wednesday.

We ended up ordering pizza last night. Since our community celebrated with concerts and fireworks on the the 3rd there was NO traffic yesterday and I didn't hear one firecracker yesterday. It was bliss! Also DS and SIL had very light traffic going back to the Bay Area so that was nice. I'm thinking maybe Sloppy Joes for dinner tonight.

Tonight will be beef fajitas here. It is still quite warm, but we wanted a change from our never ending run of meat on the grill with salad.

Our community's fireworks are tonight, in conjunction with their Wednesday night concert/movie nights. DS is working the event, and since DH does not have softball, I've talked him into going, and we have invited friends to join us. There will be some sort of food there, so we will eat whatever they are selling!

I am thinking spaghetti if it isn't too hot outside or inside. I cook the meat sauce outside and the spaghetti inside. I am ready for spaghetti again. I would love carbonara but DS doesn't like cream sauces and I am not making two dinners. Dad is golfing today and dinner.

I think I am going to make Mongolian Beef and rice although fish tacos sound really good!!
Let's talk about the "I DO" BBQ for my son and soon to be dil
It is the rehearsal dinner at our house. I have made the invites and some other cute things, really having fun doing it.
The menu so far is.....
Smoked brisket and smoked pork. A good friend of our has a bbq food truck and I have ordered the meat from her. Easy Peasy!
I want to do several sides, I have a few ideas but I would love to hear your suggestions.
I also bought these paper baking cup things that I was thinking about making some kind of cobbler in and serve it with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Making everything yourself sounds like a lot of work! The food sounds delicious How many people will be attending this dinner?

Oh, and dinner? Just a stew with lots of beans, chick peas, peppers, onion, zucchini, carrots and a little bit of meat (and spices, of course). And flatbread, but I didn't make those.

Both of my dd's complain that I never take them grocery shopping with me so that they can pick out things they want to eat ... Dd#2 saw the orthodontist this morning so I took her to the grocery store after ... Chick chose lemonade, blueberries, perogies, sour cream, and foundation (makeup) So we'll be having perogies tonight and it is possible that Molly will be in a full face of makeup

I can just see the conversation that transpired. I am not laughing at you I am laughing with you. Ok at you here, too. I am glad she got foundation because you want to look your best at the table and all.

I would serve cole slaw for sure (I'm assuming there will be buns?), plus baked beans, potato or macaroni salad, cut up fruit, maybe a veggie tray because some people don't like to just eat the good stuff! (I'm JOKING!) For dessert, I would worry about it being too warm to have the ice cream not be a drippy mess. I would probably do brownies, to fit the BBQ theme.

littlemama's sides are exactly what I was going to suggest: coleslaw, baked beans and macaroni salad. It sounds like a fun rehearsal dinner, The Birdhouse Lady! A fruit cobbler with ice cream is the perfect summer BBQ dessert. We are having leftover pasta salad and/or chicken salad on a bed of Romaine lettuce for dinner tonight.

For our dining pleasure this evening we will be having the left over BBQ chicken with rice. There is a little bit of left over watermelon and cantelope to go along with the rice dish.....Our company left this morning so it will be a quiet evening at home tonight....
Happy Wednesday Everybody! (Wednesday the new Monday, at least this week)

Yes, there will be buns and bbq sauce.
You and I are on the same page. I saw a really cute thing on Pinterest that was a fruit salad in a big clear glass cookie jar container.
Another thought I had was corn on the cob.
I don't think I have to worry about melty ice cream. We have been having a very mild summer here in Alaska and I am more concerned if it is going to rain.

I am smoking a turkey breast along with tofu slabs and vegetarian baked beans. We also have some corn on the cob. My husband usually does the smoking but I wanted to try today. So dinner will either be a fail or a win.

I think corn on the cob would be pretty messy, plus lots of people don't like to eat it in public because of the whole corn in the teeth issue! I love it and would eat it anytime, anywhere as long as it wasn't overcooked!

I love the idea of little individual baked crumbles (or whatever you said) with ice cream. Only I certainly wouldn't bother making ice cream for that crowd. Costco has nice vanilla ice cream. When I had to put on a rehearsal dinner last year, I rented the party room at Round Table and bought everyone pizza and salad. Also brought a cake. I am way. too. lazy to do all the work you're doing. And way. too. cheap to feed all those people at a real restaurant.

More scrounging in the freezer resulted in some bbq meatballs w/topping; so, we're having bbq meatballs, pesto pasta, and steamed broccoli. Maybe some ice cream for dessert.

I was planning on doing it at a restaurant but couldn't come up with a place that could feed that many people and not put us in the poor house!!
Having my friend do the meat is a huge thing off my plate. I can work on the sides the day before and I have a little bit of help from Kait and one of my friends said she would help too.
I think I will try out the Costco ice cream that you suggested. That will also be a timesaver!
