I've never ordered from them, but there is a store not far from my daughter's apartment. Is it worth making a trip? And what should I be buying?

My sister and I drive an hour and a half through crap Bay Area traffic to get to the "local" store.  (Not very often, though.) We love wandering the store and finding new things to try. I like the double-strength vanilla, cinnamon, taco seasoning, Italian seasoning, garlic bits (I forget what they're really called), bags of bay leaf and peppercorns and sea salt ... all kinds of things. They have lots of seasoning mixes in different flavor and regional blends. I buy all my seasonings there when possible. Pick up a catalog when you're there, because there's lots of information about the different products (sometimes they have 3-4 or more types of a specific spice or herb), and also stories (uplifting, interesting) about random people and recipes. Or look at their website for same. Also, they are super lefty politically. He rants quite a bit in the emails they send out. I will admit, even though I mostly agree with him politically, I wouldn't want to put my business on the line like that by being so publicly political. |
