I'm off to the big city for an appointment. So, dinner will be takeout Chinese food. In fact, I need to get up and get moving. Traffic looks heavy, so I will be catching the commuter train. Later I'll catch up on our discussion about The Birdhouse Lady's BBQ I DO and let's see if we can come up w/any other ideas. What's on your menu? Have a great day.

Tonight DS and I are having dinner out. We are going to this hamburger place called Bin 4. It has a very good reputation and he has eaten there several times. He is going to do an oil change on my car and then brakes on his car. Then we are going to go.

Going to be over 100 today so I'm thinking it will be something that doesn't involve the oven. Spaghetti maybe.

I have bought some marinated pork steaks, which DH can throw on the grill when he gets home. Salads of various sorts to go with - I know there is still some leftover coleslaw, as well as potato salad.

gack. I took out a package of ground beef, thinking I'd make meat loaf, but cadoodlebug says it's going to be hot. (It will be hotter for her than for me, but still ... hot.) So maybe cheeseburgers? We'll see. If I have to drive BIL to Stanford for his pre-op appt (with kid and dog in tow ... just shoot me now), I might as well forget about cooking anything much, anyway. It will take all day. LOL lucyg!! I hope you don't have to take your BIL! We are having tacos, rice and Pico w/ chips. First time I have "cooked" in a long time. I love it! Daughter came home from her mom's last Thursday and kept asking what was for dinner, her thought was going out to eat somewhere, our thought was what do we have on hand. We ended up with frozen pizzas, cereal, popcorn, crescent hot dogs and mac and cheese (this was not in one night!). You know, all the healthy food. Stuff she usually likes. LOL Found out all she had to eat for 10 days with her mom was tortillas and cheese. If I had known that, I would have figured out something better! Dammit. So, when she comes back again from her mom's, I will have a menu ready for her of real food! I was reading the threads earlier on the BBQ I DO and all the items on there sound so yummy. I would agree with all the others on the menu items. I would go for corn on the cob, it's a BBQ, it is expected!! I am a fan of potato salad more than macaroni salad.

I took ground beef and whole wheat tortillas out of the freezer last night. So I'm thinking about making enchilada casserole or something along those lines.

I'm a little bit jealous of the 90-100 degree temperatures! We're in Killington, Vermont with a beautiful pool to use and it's only 68 right now! I had to put on a jacket when we were sitting on the balcony.
We're here for a great nephew's wedding tomorrow evening. Tonight there's a welcome dinner and I have no idea what they're serving. I'll have to report back.
Dh and I left little Ally with her mom who returned from vacation late last night and we both miss her terribly 😕

It's hot here too and humid......so for our dining pleasure we will be having left over potato salad and some sort of meat. We have left over ground beef burgers and hot dogs from one of the many meals this long weekend so I think we will use those up. We also still have left over watermelon and cantaloupe to eat. If one more person walks in the door and asks if we could turn up the air which we do not have they are going to get the look......the fan is running just enjoy the air moving get your business done and go along your way...... lucyg you don't have to ask anyone to shoot you now, the heat will kill you if the dog and child don't bother you to death in the car first........this would be my idea of hell.... in a hot car (even air doesn't make it that much cooler when it's HOT) with a person going to the doctor, a small person, and a dog........but I work where there is no air conditioning except the running fan so I enjoy hell every single day when it gets to 95 and above and humid........ Happy HOT Thursday Everybody!

What I'm making depends on when DH is coming home. If he's late tonight I am going to make salmon and couscous with asparagus for DS and I. If he's on time for dinner I will make chicken and potatoes with green beans.
I'm secretly hoping he's late. I'm still working on his anniversary gift. I would like a little more time to work on it.

After being on fake vacation all weekend, then the holiday, then the fireworks last night, I made NO concrete dinner plans for the week! Tonight is a softball night, so I'm probably picking up pizza. I cannot stand the smell of Jet's pizza in my car or the fridge. I like the pizza, just not the smell. I'm weird, sue me.

LOL, I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have a kid and a toy poodle to deal with during the two-hour drive (each way) and the two-hour appointment! At any rate, he never called, so I seem to be off the hook. I'm hoping he didn't decide to drive himself but I bet he did. (stroke damage) Thanks for the weather report!

Brrrr! 18 C today (that's 64F for you guys on the other side of the pond), not my idea of summer, but DH decided it was time to barbecue. To be fair, the sun WAS shining, and to most Norwegians sun = summer, temperatures be damned, so barbecue we did. And as long as I put on a sweater and a jacket, it was, well, almost summer-y.

My IP and I will make meatloaf and "baked" spuds. No oven or stove involved.

Another scorcher here today. I took a couple days off, in addition to the 4th. I really enjoyed setting my own schedule for the day! Ah, well, retirement is still a ways off.
Anyway, we will have grilled burgers, green salad and probably corn on the cob. As little indoor cooking as possible. I'll nuke the corn before we throw it on the grill. Maybe make some Mexican street corn spread?

I concur. It's 90 here and I'm melting. Michigan girls are not ones to deal real well with heat. My DH came home from work last night and he gave me a big hug. I nearly died from the smell of him.

My middle son and his family are visiting from Ohio so we've had big family barbecues/dinners for the last three nights. Tonight my oldest daughter is hosting and is doing shish kebabs and sides for the whole gang. I'm putting together a large fruit salad or a compote (haven't quite decided), and I'm also bringing baked beans and corn on the cob. Also on hand is a Costco seven layer chocolate cake and a strawberry cheesecake. We won't starve, that's for sure!

I took myself and the two dd's to the hairstylist this morning ... with all the cuts and colours we were there for four freaking hours Everyone has great hair now though Dd#1 got to choose what she wanted for dinner and she chose pesto pasta ... We've never had that before so we'll see how it goes over I'm pretty sure that I'll like it because I'm the least picky eater in the house
