Thanks for posting your gorgeous Maine photos. I've been to Maine, but only along the coastline (Acadia National Park) and then we drove north and into New Brunswick. I love those lupines! Wow! I am in awe of you and your family hiking 14 miles in a day.

thanks for sharing, I always love seeing your pics! have you ever been hiking in the Franconia Notch region of NH? We have and we love it there too. We were saying on this trip that next one we need to get back to the Whites (my husband goes every year to do a Presidential Traverse, but we haven't been as a family since Norah was little. We went more before she was born).

Beautiful scenery! I've not been to Maine but that is not what I was picturing in my mind. Really nice! I think coastal Maine is what normally comes to mind for people (and where most people go - we love the coast too). HOLY TOLEDO! Your photos are stunning! I had no idea there were fields of lupine like that. We didn't either! I thought the patches we had been seeing were nice and had no idea we would find these fields. It was a real treat!

You can't breathe out here.. If fact, Denver is at a little over 5,000 feet.. it's hard enough just to breathe in town much less up in the mountains. Plus your mountains are FAR prettier than ours!!

The mountains in the east and west are very different, but both beautiful in their own ways. I love the openness out west, the fantastic views, wildflowers, the easier trails while out here I like the green forests and abundant water and plants. We don't have as much trail above treeline, so not as many views. Trails are also very rugged and technical. And nobody who built trails had ever heard of switchbacks, lol.
