You are smart to get checked out by a doctor. But wanted to say that my ocular migraines typically present as a small "blind" spot in my peripheral vision followed by an expanding, shimmering, zigzag pattern. (ETA: and it is sort of a half circle shape.) I think this is pretty common. So try not to worry until you know more! Mine come like a sideways V. Starts out small and works it's way from the center of my vision and enlarges until it works it's way out of my line of sight. It takes about 1/2 hour for it to completely clear. I don't get sick or disoriented. I just have to wait fir it go pass. Sending good thoughts your way!

I get a sparkely silver zig-zag semi-circle that starts like a dot and then gets big and disappears over about 1/2 hour. After the light display finishes, my headache hits and I'm down for the count. My dh only gets the ocular part and not the headache. That's what yours sounds like to me. This is very similar to me, and my DD has just started the same symptoms age 24 hope it it is something similar OP. i also get migraines that start with eye ache and then a slight sick feeling. The headache from that migraine is worse than the pain which follows the ocular symptoms for me.

Praying that you'll have answers soon.
Recently I had my first migraine. It started with my left eye vision zig zagging. Weirdest experience! I had no idea what was wrong, but felt panicked that something was wrong with my eyesight. About ten minutes later the intense headache started, which ultimately left me laying down in a dark room for hours.

Good Luck - it's good you are going to the doctors for it.
I recently had a problem that I thought my right eye was feeling weird, like a lazy eye. I went for another eye appt and sure enough my eye is drifting. I had to get all new glasses with prisms but it is much better now. Expensive but glad to figure out that it wasn't just something I was imagining.

{{{{ hugs }}}} and prayers.
I totally get how scary this potential diagnosis can be. I only learned how much at risk I am for retinal tears when I was in my 30's. After years of seeing eye doctors for my very nearsighted eyes (requiring glasses/contact since I was 7), it was only when I went for a consult for laser surgery (that I didn't have done) that I learned my extreme correction puts me a great risk for retinal detachment. Why no doctor before this one ever mentioned this to me before that, I guess I'll never know. The reason this doctor brought it up was to make sure I knew that even with the corrective surgery the risk was still there and I would still need annual checkups to check my retinas.

Update in OP. I cannot read very well at the moment due to eye dilation, so I will read the posts that were posted after I said that I was leaving as soon as I can. Again, I REALLY appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

So glad to hear that your eyes are easily fixable. Have fun picking out your new frames (once your eyes are back to normal!).

I'm glad to hear it's nothing more serious but I have to say I'm a little confused. How can readers, which are for seeing up close, help with night vision and watching movies?

LOL He said to test them during the previews. For the text, I guess? He wasn't very clear on that and I didn't ask any questions because I had no idea what to ask!
