You are so sweet to look into my mom's pan. The ironic thing is that the coffee cake isn't my fav but tonight my mom made my fav - her Mielle feuille. I love it so much that I stole the leftovers and brought them home. Before bed it was kind of like a FRIENDS episode where we sat around the cake with our forks and just dug in.
In a springform pan one layer of graham crackers, then a layer of vanilla pudding, next a layer of whipped cream, then a final layer of graham crackers (cut to fit) and topped with icing sugar thinned with some milk. Half vanilla half chocolate. Use a fork or knife to drag a pretty pattern. Set it in the fridge. Take out right before serving.

My mom makes the best coffee cake. It is her mother's recipe. She' has given it out the odd time as written but she has never explained how she tweaks it. But she wouldn't hide anything from family. She's happy to give me the recipe but I don't own the proper pan or else I'd make it. She makes it in a flat spring form bundt pan. She's gone through everyone's that we know and she just can't find the pan anymore. That way she can put extra topping on the very top but it is still a bundt shape with the hole in the middle and it pops out because of the spring form pan. Thy is why no one can replicate it. Has anyone seen this pan? Is it one of the pans on this site?

I generally share.
When my late FIL was on hospice, his sister, aunt Darlene, brought over the sugar cookies their mother used to make. DH's crazy sister said aunt Darlene would never share the recipe. I called the aunt and she was thrilled that I wanted it. She gave it to me. I'd like to say I would not share it with DH's crazy bitch of a sister, but I probably would.
I posted on another thread that MIL always has to one-up my recipes I give her. I'd like to leave out an ingredient or two, but never have, LOL.

Dh has a BBQ sauce recipe that he does not share. He did give to DDs a couple of years ago. The sauce is delish, but the way he BBQs is what makes it out of this world - to us anyway.

Only my caramels and my cream cheese cookies. Just kidding. If I make belle magic's aunt's cookies I should just print copies of the recipe, I get so many compliments. Same with the caramels someone was so kind to share here. I thought this might be referencing Caramel in a Can!! Anyone else remember all of the caramel in a can posts? (Or am I crazy?) I see the real akathy caramel recipe linked above. I actually tried that one too and still ended up with condensed milk so I never tried again. :-)

I guess I have a different take - I love when good recipes prolificate. A neighbor was kind enough to share her Thanksgiving dressing recipe and now it doesn't matter if Thanksgiving is at my house, my mother's, sisters, aunt's, sister-in-laws, or even my aunt's sister-in-laws - you'll find Betty's dressing. Now that I think about it Thanksgiving is a bit of a remembrance of many people through their recipes that have been carried on - and few of them are actually from "my" family. There's my Aunt's husband's grandmothers sweet potato recipe and my husband's grandmother's noodle recipe, etc. This is different though. You aren't going to show up at your neighbor's Thanksgiving with a pan of HER dressing, KWIM? Like I said previously, I usually have no trouble sharing recipes with most people. I too like to give and receive good recipes. But there are a few people I know who would intentionally show up at an event I typically attend with one of the things I usually make just to be a jerk and that isn't cool.
