This is for people who like to consume only. I want the effect of a glass of wine or two every so often. I know what two glasses of wine feels like and it's nice. I hate the taste of wine. I hate the taste of beer (I don't really know any longer) and other things. I like a peach bellini, but they are fattening and not readily available at home. What can I drink if I want something to drink to relax? I am at a loss here. I used to like rum & coke and rum doesn't agree with me or I don't like it any longer. I don't like gin at all. I don't care for any whiskey really. I am afraid of vodka (thanks to grade 8) and I am stuck now. I don't want anything too sweet nor flavourful. I used to like Korean shoju and Japanese shochu (I think they are the same thing). There has to be something to get the peaceful, easy feeling.
Eta: Ok I have half a glass of rosé and I will see how I do with it. I don't have to go out tonight so I plan just to enjoy it and see.

Honesty? I'd skip the alcohol and try to get in a really good workout. Maybe a hard walk? The exercise is good for you and it will release those endorphins

I like a Moscow mule, hard ginger ale, or hard vanilla cream soda. The vanilla cream soda is sweetest among those.
But yeah, maybe alcohol isn't your jam. It's so subjective. Either keep trying new drinks or new things to relax like yoga, meditation, different activities...

since you nixed vodka, I don't know if I have any suggestions for you. For mixed drinks, I like vodka and cranberry juice, or a Sea Breeze- vodka, cranberry, and grapefruit juice.
I also like 'sipping' liqueurs such as Grand Marnier (orange), or herbal liqueurs like Green Chartreuse, but those, are probably higher calorie than you want.
I also like hard ciders- they make those drier / less sweet, as well as sweeter ones. They also make hard ciders from apples, pears, raspberry, etc. Again, though, higher calorie.
what is it about wine that you don't like? There are sooo many different varieties / types of wine, ranging from sweet / fruity (white such as moscato, Gewurztraminer, Rieslings, etc.) to berry and jam flavored red wines, like a good Shiraz, Merlot, or an Argentinian Malbec. Not all wines are dry and reminiscent of lacquer thinner!

One of my favourite summer drinks is a Hugo. Elderflower syrup, a splash of mineral water, topped off with prosecco/any decent sparkling white wine. Add a mint leaf for color. It is a bit sweet, and very refreshing.

I'd go for brandy. You don't need to drink a lot of it, put it in a shot glass. I'd go into the liqueur store and ask for a recommendation. Like any other store they know all about the products they sell.

Personally, if that is the reason for drinking, I would question the motive. I get that some people drink to relax, but trying to find something you like the taste of just to get the feeling isn't something I would recommend. I would look into meditation or some other activity that creates relaxation.

Yeah I'm not sure drinking should be your go to here. But I also don't like beer and wine is just ok, imo. If/when I drink wine I prefer the fruitier ones. I do enjoy sangria. This time of year margaritas are good (well anytime, but frozen ones in the summer are always nice). Also things like Mike's Hard Lemonade or wine coolers. If you're just looking to get drunk a shot of tequila would do the job.....sure it doesn't taste good but it's over quick

I know you said for those who consume only, which I no longer do, but I'm butting in anyhow. I don't keep a spreadsheet, but you've posted enough in the past for us to know that with other meds you take, alcohol isn't a good choice for you. Also, with recurrent bladder infections and antibiotics, alcohol isn't a good choice for you. I think non-drug methods of relaxation are what you need explore.

I'm like you, don't like the taste of wine or beer. When I want something alcoholic I have a Fuzzy Navel - a dash of peach schnapps and lots of orange juice over ice. One is usually enough for me and I like the taste of this one.

I know you don't like vodka but my new summer drink is vodka mixed with Ocean Spray Cran-Lemonade. During the winter, I enjoy vodka mixed with Twist Mist Cranberry Splash.
Currently I have been looking for the Mocktails that Ocean Spray has started distributing
Nothing beats a frozen margarita and you only need one of them to feel relaxed.

I totally get what you are asking here Ellanah. I very very rarely drink. BTDT. Every Christmas I buy some Baileys and plan on enjoying some on the rocks, but it never works out for me. The perfect relaxing scene that I have in my head never materializes. After a few months, one of my dd will comment on my unopened bottle in the fridge and I will give it to them.

I can't drink anymore. It's very odd, but if I try wine or champagne I get very flushed and uncomfortable. Beer, my stomach can't tolerate. I don't like hard liquor and even mixed drinks now cause me to become very flushed and tired. This all happened after I started taking tamoxifen but it might be a coincidence, I don't know.
I miss having a glass of wine or a few beers on a nice summer evening. I've tried those new hard seltzers and they taste gross but I did tolerate one of those ok. One was all I could take. I'm just going to accept that I'm pretty much a teetotaler now. :/

With your stipulations--no vodka, gin, whiskey, wine, beer, nothing too highly caloric--that pretty much rules out everything. In the summer, I'm not a red wine drinker because it seems too heavy, but I do enjoy a dry pink cava, which is a sparkling wine made in Portugal--low carb, reasonably low calorie. I prefer it to proseccos, which are usually too sweet for me.

I recently found spiked Seltzer's at my liquor store. They are just very mildly flavored and you can't taste the alcohol. It tastes exactly like a seltzer water. I add some fresh fruit. They are 5 g of carb per serving.

If you want to drink to relax then I think your best bet is to get a big mug of steaming Chamomile tea and put on some relaxing instrumental music.
ETA: You should drink because you want to (like the taste), not because you have to (to relax or forget).

I don't drink at all and haven't in years. I never liked the taste or the feeling of not being in control. W/your medications, alcohol might make things worse for you. Meditation can create total relaxation when done properly and consistently. Also, acupuncture can take you to your blissful place w/o the hangover or drug interaction. Escaping your problems is a nifty idea until it's not. Acupuncture could really help you and a great acupuncturist will help you be able to meditate, too.

Gin and tonic. I use diet tonic water. Sometimes put a bit of lime or a lime slice. Yummy.

I'm not sure about drinking just for the high - no judgements though.
A couple suggestions though they somewhat violate your requests: Hendrick's gin and tonic. Try one at a bar and see if you like it. The Hendrick's is different from Tanqueray and the taste is very fresh and light. Caesar - just get seasoned clamato juice and a good vodka (I like chopin, grey goose is way overrated).
+1 to margaritas and prosecco.
+1 to yoga for a good endorphin release without the alcohol.

ETA: You should drink because you want to (like the taste), not because you have to (to relax or forget). I think it's a little self-serving to claim we drink because we like the taste of it, not for any other reason. (Sorry that sounds snarky, but it's not meant to be.) The whole point of alcohol is to relax the drinker, lubricate social situations, numb the mind, numb the pain, whatever. Just like any other mood-altering drug. People have been making hooch (probably since they became people) for a reason and it's not that it tastes good. That's just a side benefit. If it were all about flavor, we'd stick to chocolate or something else that didn't actually get us drunk. Although I've read chocolate has some chemical in it that makes our brains happy.
