I became disabled back in March and haven't been able to work since February. My days are long since and I sew to keep my mind occupied. I love sewing and quilting. I love sewing doll clothes and have made a ton for my DGD and DD. DGD no longer plays with her dolls but I still make the clothes.
I was wondering if it would be worth my time to try and sell a few outfits on Facebook or craft fairs. Does anyone by handmade doll clothes or just from the AG website and other dtores? I don't want to make a huge amount, just enough to keep buying fabric and not feeling guilty.
We just had a new JoAnn's open here and DD works there. We can get a 20% discount and it makes it so easy to buy fabric.

I think it would be worth looking into, especially if you can make unique outfits that aren't easily available elsewhere. I've made some just for my own pleasure, and always get comments on them when I'm working on them. I will warn you, though - shoes and accessories for AG dolls on ebay and amazon are addictive. Feel free to come to the crafting thread and share pictures - lots of pictures .

I have bought doll clothes off of etsy for my niece. Poke around there and you can see what people are making and how much they are charging.

Yes, I was going to say Etsy. I've never officially analyzed it, but it always looks to me as if putting together an ensemble sells for disproportionately more money. Like, you might have a dress that you sell for $15, but if you toss in some cute shoes and tights you got cheaply, you could easily charge $25-30, depending on the intricacy of the outfit.

I bought a lot of AG clothes from ebay and etsy. The items I seemed to always buy was underwear and cami's. My dd hated the plain white panties that come on most of the dolls. She wanted fun prints/colors. Also, we were always shopping for accessories like backpacks, shoes, hats, etc to match the outfits. I have a ton of patterns for Ag clothes that I will gladly send you. I have used most of the patterns but have all the pieces labeled with the directions. My dd is almost 15 so she no longer needs me to sew the clothes. If you are interested, send me a pm with your address.

Pixiefaire has free patterns every Friday. I've been "collecting them for over a year and have some really nice ones. I tend to adapt the patterns and make elaborate clothes that I sell for lots of money but the girls who sell at Craft fairs do well in the $5-$50 range.

My dd loves to have matching outfit with her doll. I think you could make a lot selling these kind of sets. Would have to deal with different sizes though.

I have bought clothes for American Girl dolls several times from Etsy. They make great birthday presents for birthday parties. My middle daughter went to a Wizard of Oz themed party and she gave the birthday girl a Dorothy dress that I found on Etsy. It was a huge it.
I have also bought knitted doll sweaters from some ladies at a craft show. Those sweaters were expensive ($40 and $45) but the ladies were part of a fund raising group for our local Children's Hospital and all of the profits went to the Hospital. So, I was ok with spending the money.
