Drs office left a message at 5:05 last night to let me know lab results were in, please call back after 9:00 this morning. So I call back at 9:30 this morning and of course get the voicemail and as soon as I get up to go the bathroom or get a drink they will call.

Yes, going out to get the mail or going to the bathroom are a sure way to make the phone ring.

Well I caught the first call but now she has to ask the doctor more questions and call me back so at least I've made it to the ladies room!
Meanwhile, I'm convinced I have leukemia because I have an elevated white blood cell count and I'm tired all the time. (just kidding!)

Well I caught the first call but now she has to ask the doctor more questions and call me back so at least I've made it to the ladies room! Meanwhile, I'm convinced I have leukemia because I have an elevated white blood cell count and I'm tired all the time. (just kidding!) Just went thru this scenario with DH. I came home from a week of staying close to my Granny as she went thru surgery to remove cancer and I found DH was so weak and exhausted he was coming home and sleeping on the couch. When the dr did tests, they found he had a very, very low Vitamin D level and some funky white and red blood cell counts. Per his dr.'s instructions, he immediately started on a fairly large dose of Vitamin D3 and went to see a Hematologist. She said his white count was waaaay too low for leukemia to be a consideration; more likely he had a cold or minor infection at the time. We are waiting to have more bloodwork done to ascertain if he might have true anemia. He carries the trait for Mediteranean (sp?) Anemia and it messes with the normal anemia tests. DH is much better now, though it took a couple weeks for the vitamin to kick in.
If your white count wasn't crazy over the norm, like thousands, it's probably not as big a concern as the exhaustion. Did your dr order tests for vitamin and hormone deficiencies? If not, you might want to ask about them. Marcy

I had an elevated white blood count, but they couldn't figure out the source of the infection. A round of antibiotics didn't change anything. This went on for months before they did a CT scan because I had headaches. They found my sphenoid sinuses completely blocked and a mass in my right ear. The mass was benign and unrelated to the infection, but it took months of antibiotics before the sphenoid infection cleared up.
The only symptom I had was headaches. And they really weren't that bad all the time. But I didn't have a stuffy nose or drainage. So it could be something as simple as that. Well, it wasn't really simple, but it was fixable.

I think she was testing for hormones and thyroid, my Vitamin D was low and I'm not good about taking the supplements, but I felt like I'd spent a lot of time outside this summer since it hasn't been hot and I thought it would balance out.
I do have what appears to be a raging cold sore on my lip that is growing my the second so I'm wondering if that could be the white blood cell issue. Hopefully she will call in the perscription for me if I can catch her when she calls back again.

Did the doctor call and explain the results. I'm guessing it's something very benign, but you'll feel better when you hear the doctor's words. Wonder if you have a bacterial infection? I'm not diagnosing. It just struck me. Anyway, I'll wait w/you. Please let us know what your doc says.
