On another thread It's so weird scrolling through this thread and seeing all the familiar faces in new surroundings. I think the number of peas that have found this place so quickly is testament to the power of the community that was built there. I can't really believe that the ' powers that were' over at the store simply missed the opportunity to take advantage of the pea power. I've seen it in action and it works. Yet time and time again they rebuffed or plain alienated their built in customer base. Not on the smart train with how they treated people. It's an internet based business you need to be on friendly terms on the internet. And using a design team to make projects with low stock was just utterly stupid. I mean isn't the exact function if a design team to sell slow selling or high priced products? SMH Since the pea power has worked and does work in so many other places/things it just seems darn odd that they couldn't ( or wouldn't ? ) make it work for them. Why do you think that is?

I think they grew a great business. But it got too big too quickly and they struggled with how to run it.

Maybe they were just tired of it all and wanted out.
I agree with the design team/lack of supplies. Whenever I would take a class at the lss, they would be out of half the supplies they used in the class. Seemed like a missed opportunity to me.

Short-sighted. They focused on the store to the point that they didn't see what was right in front of them that could/would make it work?
The peas constantly posted (both on General Scrappin' and NSBR) different reasons whey they did or didn't scrap, shop, etc. They had the perfect "advisory panel" right in front of them, but didn't take advantage.

When I worked in an LSS, the store owner would set aside the product used in the class so that people taking the class would be "guaranteed" product availability after the class. That just makes sense.

It's a shame the shop side couldn't have been as successful as the MB's & education piece of 2Peas. Really makes me think if another company can't come in and try to take over where these parts of the business left off.

I think they liked the cool factor more than the business factor.

This. Plus they really set themselves up by 'paying' the GG w/product. If there's no new product for us to buy, how exactly did they think they were going to make any money?

I think they liked the cool factor more than the business factor. Agreed. Which brings us to the stupid factor.

Well said. Well said. Would they still be in business if the sold MSP and diva cups in the side? LOL ( yes I am just kidding ) However, there are tons of craft related products I have bought over the years that were pea recommended, but I usually HAD to buy them elsewhere.

And then add to that the fact that you had to buy $50 in non-discounted stock in order to get a discount on shipping. Which was not always easy to do with everything new selling out so fast and the older stock being discounted so it didn't count. That was the big reason why I didn't shop there as much as I would have liked to (and I would have just to help "support" my favorite free message board and gallery).

I agree. I don't know if it was lack of business acumen or inflated ego that kept them from asking for help before the ship sank. Or, had they read their own message boards, they would have seen the common complaints about lack of stock and rectified it before it got to the point of them being denied credit with suppliers.
I don't have a degree in business, but I have the common sense to see that if I have the GG's create something with a specific product, I'd better have lots of that product on hand because that is going to be the focus of the buyers. In an industry like scrapbooking where product is changing and developing so quickly, there isn't time to reorder to fill the store with an older product that they ran out of. Scrappers had already purchased that product from another source within days of seeing it used on a GG layout and were ready for the next great thing. That's not only good business sense, but good common sense. And it was right in front of them had they bothered to look at what their customers were saying.

I think it is funny that since this board opened there has been lots of "I used to buy from two peas" I think a more assertive selling promotions could have made quite a difference .

Also a lot of nsbr peas said they stopped scrapping. I did 6 years ago and moved to photobooks. However I do think that sites like mixbook provide such tacky layout options and there was a market there to provide quality layout designs.
