Do you do your make up every day? Do you moisturize, prime and then put on foundation and contour etc? I am watching a lot of Youtube videos about make up application and they are fun to watch, but the people who make the videos are really going to a lot of work to do these videos.
How do you get over the feeling of having heavy skin? I love the look, don't get me wrong, but the weight of your skin with this much product on it is just heavy. Do I just need to get over it?

Nope. I look like a clown when I try. If I have someone do it, I get that heavy skin feeling you are talking about. Plus, I must touch my face a lot, because after five minutes I will look ridiculous.

Nope, I wear make-up maybe once a month. When I worked I wore it every day, and hated it. I have a friend that I've seen without make-up twice in 15 years. She loves it, is always trying out new looks and buying new products. She's four years younger than me, but I have to say her skin doesn't look any better than mine - with or without foundation.

I wear make up to work every week day. Weekends are hit or miss depending on if I go out or not. I try to have one day make up free every week. It never feels heavy on my skin because I don't use heavy products.

Yes, but I work with the public and need to look polished. Although I don't really bother with contouring

I do full for me makeup most days. I do my skincare routine then follow with foundation, concealor, powder, blush, highlighter, an eye look (anything goes!) lipstick or gloss. My skin never feels heavy. I've been wearing and playing with makeup since I was twelve and I enjoy putting it on. I've tried contouring but it's not something I can do well so I leave it.

I wear makeup just about every day. I wash my face and then apply moisturizer, foundation, under eye concealer, blush, eye shadow, mascara and lip stick. My routine takes me less than 10 minutes from beginning to end.

I hope my OP didn't come across as b!tchy as I didn't mean it that way. I do mascara and lipstick every day but I wish I could find a foundation with good coverage that also didn't feel greasy or heavy. I had my make up done at Sephora at the beginning of July and while that was fun, my skin was really heavy and greasy and I told her I don't like the feel of greasy skin.
I am open to all advice and opinions. What should I try that is light weight and feels nice on your skin?

Nope. I only wear makeup to work or special occasions and the lighter the better

I wear makeup everyday, but I vary the amount depending on what's going on. Yesterday I just did powdered foundation, a bit of mascara, and gloss. Today I've got more on.

The word "light" makes me encouraged! The gal doing my make up said I have "light olive skin" and I always thought I had pink skin. I was very wrong!

I wear very light makeup for work - light foundation, mascara and a bit of blush. It takes me a couple of minutes. I don't think I look good wearing anything too heavy or full on.

Everyday. Work makeup is more involved than weekend. I use powder foundation alot on the weekends. You might try Bare Minerals, It Cosmetics Celebration foundation or Mac.

You can get 'water' foundation that's apparently very light on the skin.

Any day I go out (which is normally 7 days a week) I do "full for me" makeup. I suck at make up so I don't do contouring, blush, eye shadow. I mix some moisturizer with foundation so it feels a little lighter and a slight bit of powder to set it. I really I need to do this because my skin isn't that great imo. I then do eye liner which is a recent additional and I feel it make a big difference along with mascara. Some days I do lip gloss. Done.

I used to use Bare Minerals and my skin was kind of sparkly. It was light, though. I will see what I can get. I can go back to MAC. I have had good luck at MAC as well. I want "powder" foundation? Is it like pressed powder? It sounds nice and light.

I wear makeup every day. It doesn't matter if I'm going to work, to the theater or just staying. Home. I put on full makeup (primer, foundation, powder to bake the foundation, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow). I don't wear blush every day though. And I never contour. My makeup doesn't feel heavy on my skin. Try It foundation. It's light on the face. Or maybe try CC cream. I like It CC Ilumination cream.

Yes.
Good makeup shouldn't feel heavy on your face,
I do toner. Wait for it to dry. Moisturizer. Wait for it to be absorbed. Primer. Wait for it to be absorbed. At this point I still feel like I have nothing on my face. Foundation. A good foundation gives you lots of coverage with minimal product. My face does not feel heavy. Conceal, hi light, contour. Again, good quality product will achieve a lot without layering it on. Then I apply powder very thickly to bake. At this point it's heavy, but I'm going to blend most of it off later. Eyebrows. Eye primer, eye shadow, eyeliner. Then blend out powder. Makeup feels light again. Blush. Lipstick.
Everyday.

I never wear makeup. I never got the hang of applying it, and as someone else said above, I "look like a clown" when I try to do it. I am fortunate that my skin is pretty good. I never had anything more than a few random pimples, and my skin tone is pretty even. Well, except for the freckles, LOL, but when you pair them with the dimples, they kinda go together in that wholesome, farmer's daughter kind of way. I was so jealous of girls who could pull off the glamorous look when I was younger because I felt like such a "plain Jane." With age comes a certain appreciation for a simpler lifestyle, though. I do moisturize and use eye cream and wrinkle cream. I am 55, and I want to keep looking younger. A colleague said something about being "much older" than me the other day, and I said there could not be that much of a difference since I was 55. She was shocked! She is 60, and she thought she was at least 10 years older. Of course, I am quite "fluffy," and I think that sort of fills out the wrinkles. I think I'd rather have the wrinkles. In any case, I am so glad I have good skin like Mom (who never wore any makeup except for a little lipstick occasionally). I would be in a world of trouble if I had to apply it every day, because I seriously SUCK at it. If I ever have to be fully made up for something (maybe my daughters' weddings?), I will have it professionally done. My 3 daughters all LOVE makeup. They must have gotten that gene from my two sisters who rock the makeup look.

Only on days when I work or am going to see someone I know. I don't always prime and contour but I do all the rest.
Yesterday I went to an amusement park for DH's work so I put on a full face, and I have to say Smashbox primer is the best stuff I've ever tried for keeping my face in place. I sweated a TON yesterday but my makeup still looked pretty much flawless even when we left. I had to dab at my face with a napkin a few times but everything stayed where it needed to.
As for it feeling heavy, that doesn't bother me at all so no advice there.

Yes, I wear a full face of makeup most days. It doesn't feel heavy though - I don't "feel" my foundation at all. It really doesn't take too long and I look so much better with my makeup done.

With light, combination skin, & rosacea, I wear makeup everyday. I moisturize, prime, correct, then apply foundation, eyeshadow (optional), eyeliner (optional), mascara, lipliner (optional), & lipstick. It takes only a few minutes.
Regarding foundations: I highly recommend L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte, a dupe of MAC Studio Sculpt, that is lightweight, non-greasy, & lasts for 24 hours. I've been wearing it for 1.5 years (in the humid southeast US) & have NEVER once had to touch-up; I honesty forget I'm wearing it! For color reference, I have light skin with a cool/pink undertone & wear Shell Beige (102). It is available at Target, Walmart, BB&B, drug stores, cosmetic specialty stores, etc. for ~$11 USD.
Best wishes finding a foundation & routine that works for you.

My routine takes me less than 10 minutes from beginning to end. Yep. That's me every day. I've taken a long time to find a foundation that I love (Charlotte Tilbury) that gives me the amount of coverage that feels weightless. I love makeup!

I'm another who almost never wears it. Maybe once every 5-10 years, the last time I had someone else do it and it actually looked halfway decent. I don't have the time or patience to mess with all that. I wash my face with a Norwex face cloth and call it good. If I know I'll be in the sun for an extended time I'll use some Neutrogena sun screen, but once I'm back in again it has to come off because I hate that greasy, slimy feeling of having anything on my face. I'm lucky to have pretty nice skin naturally (thanks, mom!) so I just don't worry about it. I'm thinking I should go get my brows done professionally somewhere though because they're getting thinner and lighter as I get older, and eyebrows are kind of necessary. Now my BFF on the other hand does do a full face just about every day. She sells a line of makeup (Limelight I think?) and I think she does video on either FaceTime or Periscope or something so her downlink can watch. She's much fancier than me, LOL, so she can rock that look every day. We're total opposites.

Having your make up done at Sephora may be fun but have you seen the way those guys and gals have done their face? Some of them honestly look like they put it on with a trowel. Maybe try mixing in some foundation with a light lotion? Sometimes I'll do that if I'm just hitting the grocery store or something. Good luck finding something suitable

When working, the full thing (except no contouring, highlighting), but never at home. I can go from bare to out the door in 10 minutes or less. Luckily, I have good skin if you ignore the freckles and dark spots, so I'm really not trying to cover so much as put down a base with foundation. Without it, the blush just seems to disappear.

I've worn make up nearly everyday of my life since I was 12 years old. I'm 58 now. Just this summer I've been going without it more often than not. I use liquid foundation, powder, mascara, blush and lipstick. I wish I knew how to use eyeliner - I love how it looks - but I can't put it on without making a mess.
