A member of my church learned that I was a scrapbooker and offered me his (deceased) wive's scrapbooking stuff. I told him that I would love it and promised to pass on anything I couldn't use. Oh my!! 23 cricut cartridgesnthatbi don't have! A crop in style paper keeper ( I just paid almost 150 for one!!). Boxes of embellishments, all organized. The original cricut and the cricut expression! More coming next week!
the sad part is that his wife died at only 57. She was diabetic and was experiencing some problems. She fell and hit her head and never regained consciousness. Some of the cricut cartridges still have the seals on them. She never got to use them. She obviously loved scrapbooking. Upon talking with her husband, I learned that I have probably scrapped with her. She took the CKU classes at a local store, as did I. There were only 10 of us in the class and we did the whole thing straight through because bad weather delayed the start and a second storm was coming. I picture a woman like many of us, addicted to our craft and enjoying it immensely! So sad that it ended so soon. Diabetes is a terrible disease. My sister was a fantastic crafter, doing huge cross stitches and scrapping with me.... Until she lost her eyesight to diabetes. And now I am mourning the passing of a woman who died 4 years ago....
Some of the stiuff I can't use will be used for a charity auction.
no point to this post except to share my good fortune and the sadness behind it.

When I leave for vacation, I leave the number of a friend I have scrapped with for years. She knows what to do with my scrap stuff if anything would happen to me. I want her to have it or pass on what she wouldn't use. I have an entire room full of stuff and know she could/would use a lot of it. No way would any person who'd doesn't live in my house have a clue what to do with it all.
Hopefully he is happy someone can use it. Perhaps you could make him some cards out of the supplies that he could use for thank yous.

I am so glad he thought to give her treasured scrapbook supplies to you. I can imagine many husbands would just throw it all away.

So sad but glad it will be used or put in a charity auction. I could only hope that's what would be done with all my stuff. Maybe I better leave instructions.

That is a happy and sad event. Enjoy your new things. Love the idea of unwanted going to a charity auction.

I'm sure you've helped the husband immensely: dealing with a sudden tragedy is difficult enough and I'm sure he has been wanting to make sure her treasures are given to someone who understands and appreciates them. It sounds like you are the perfect person for that. When you get the chance after things are unpacked and unsealed, maybe you can make her DH a thank you note with some of the supplies but only if it's not an intrusive thing to do: how well do you know him?
This is a great reminder to USE our treasured papers and supplies. If they are hoarded and stashed away, how will any of our loved ones know that these were treasures if they are packed in tote boxes, stuffed inside closets and sitting around sealed and unused. If you love it, use it: once it's inside your scrapbook and part of a layout, then you will show it is important, valued, and treasured.
I'm so happy for your wonderful gift you have received but sad for the circumstance of how it came to be yours. Very bittersweet. ((hugs))

Very sad, but how great something she loved was passed down to someone who will enjoy it.

Awww. How bittersweet. So happy for you that you'll be able to make use of her treasures and so happy for him that he likely feels the same!

I'm sorry to hear of her loss so young. I hope it is a comfort to her husband that her scrapbooking stuff is going to a good home

Your post resonates with me because I am 60 now and thinking about my stuff and what to do with it. Not scrapbook stuff, but I have been donating and rehoming some of my antiques. I have an original 1860's little girl's dress I just gave to a historical costuming blogger I follow. I did that after I tried for quite a while to find a museum to take it.
Maybe I can tell my husband to just have a big refupea giveaway if I go while the board is up and running, haha!

That is sad that she was so young but I'm sure the husband is happy knowing someone will be using her things with the same love and joy as his wife.

This is a good reminder for us all to do some planning & lots of scrapping. Just yesterday, a friend was telling me how her and her husband moved everything into a trust as part of their estate planning. They are 53 & 57 (and completely healthy). I was very impressed they are being proactive and it got me thinking it's never too early since you never know.
Happy scrapping with your new-to-you toys. Hopefully he can find some comfort they went to a good home.

It's great that he found someone he thinks can sue her things. I hope you can benefit and share with others. Enjoy!

So sad about his wife. My sister died suddenly of complications from diabetes when she was only 58. Glad that the husband was able to pass on her scrapbook items to you.
