I just saw one a minute ago, tv is on while I am making dinner. I wasn't really paying attention, thought it was for Wounded Warriors until the final moment.

Do you happen to have a link? I haven't seen them on TV. I tried googling it and got only one ad. I even checked their You Tube channel and only found the one ad. The one I saw wasn't very moving (to me, anyway). But it looks like they are targeting (no pun intended) Michael Bloomberg.
I am certainly not their target audience and don't support their tactics, but I'm curious about the ads now.
As an aside, while Googling, I did find a reference to the "Knee Defender" and the commenter said this:
Just thought it was funny considering the threads today!
ETA: Nevermind! I finally found a site that has them. Watching them now.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think they're pretty savvy, appealing to issues that resonate more than the older ads would. I'm a supporter and member of the NRA, so I'm not their target audience, so I'm not sure it matters what I think about them.

New NRA CommecialI just watched it from beginning to end. I would venture to guess that it was filmed very recently with the St. Louis Gateway Arch shown and glimpses of a police officer. This is going to be the subject of much conversation as soon as the media latches onto this.

Sorry, without even watching the ad, I can say there is nothing "moving" about an ad put out by an organization who's sole purpose is to push guns. There is just not.

Wow. Totally scare tactic full. Reminds me of Michael Moore's thesis in Fahrenheit 9-11: America is scared and being whipped into a frenzy of fear.

It doesn't move me (as in make me feel good) or feel patriotic at all. It makes me sad for America.

Given today's news of the little girl accidentally shooting her instructor in the head with an uzi, I'm not moved, I'm sickened.

Against my better judgement I watched a couple of these commercials. A good guy. Really? What I take away from these commercials are that you only serve your country, have a work ethic, believe in your privacy. believe we are country of laws, and you are a "good guy" if you believe the same as the NRA.
How insulting for the NRA to suggest in these ads that people, who are against everything the NRA stands for, are not a "good guy" and don't believe in the items above. That is a new low even for them. I guess they think the American people are pretty stupid to fall for this latest crap they are pushing.
I have to say I had a good laugh when I listened to the one about a country of laws especially when it comes to the NRA. I think its called showing moxie?

So, I am probably their target audience. I am not a gun hater or a gun lover. I believe in gun rights with restrictions. The one time DH joined the NRA, I sent a matching contribution to a charity that was working toward getting guns off the the street.
I watched the first one only so far and will come back and add what I thought of the other two in a moment.
First, 2 minutes was too long. I don't have that attention span for commercials. Second, had I not known going in, I would not have even considered that it was a commercial for the NRA. I think it was trying to get across that members of the NRA aren't bad people because they support the NRA. They are people like you, me, your neighbors... The commercial did make me go, "hmmm" because as much as I detest a lot of what the NRA does, it does do some good in my opinion for those it represents. (for the record I also am not a fan of PETA, ACLU, NAACP...when they are extreme)
ETA: Service: I did not like this one at all. I do not believe that you should use our military to back your cause. I get that the soldiers are supposed to be the protectors of our rights, but that wasn't what the commercial was about. It was saying that people should serve and that there is poverty because they aren't serving. The NRA is not serving in the way they were trying to make it seem and "the good guys" part irritated me in this commercial. While the first one might sway my mind, this one swings it right back the other way.
Safety, I agree with being able to protect yourself, but when the beginning mentioned stoplights and protecting you from road rage, that isn't a situation when I want someone to have a gun. Someone who is road raging is not usually thinking clearly and is out to make a point. A gun in that situation could be dangerous. I agree with giving people the right and the opportunity to protect themselves (mentioned late in the commercial), but I don't think we do it without regulation.
Overall (because I don't want to watch the rest of them), my stance on the NRA is this. I don't mind that they fight for gun rights. I mind that they fight against some common sense regulations and fight anything that comes down the line. I swear they would fight for the right to own a rocket launcher if they could get their hands on one.
Like I said earlier, I also feel this way about the ACLU. I support them in theory until they pick something that is just plain asinine and fight for it. I do not support them financially because of their extreme views.
ETA: one more thing. Denver and other parts of Colorado were in the videos quite a bit. My guess is that we are probably a target state with the gun legislation that was passed this year. With all the political ads we are enduring, I really hope these don't start airing here.
