BREAKING NEWS The latest G.O.P. health plan — repeal Obamacare now, replace it later — appears doomed after three Republican senators rejected it Tuesday, July 18, 2017 12:50 PM EDT
With their bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act in tatters, Senate leaders on Tuesday pushed to vote on a different measure that would repeal major parts of President Barack Obama’s health law without a replacement — but that plan also appeared to collapse. Republican Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska immediately declared they could not vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement — enough to doom the effort before it could get any momentum.

This seems like a no brainer. A repeal with no plan at all is even worse.

Well, it's nice to know there are some in the Senate who actually think about the everyday lives of average Americans and put that ahead of party and politics.

This seems like a no brainer. A repeal with no plan at all is even worse. Yet, some were embracing the idea. And Trump was pushing that idea.

This seems like a no brainer. A repeal with no plan at all is even worse. Yet, some were embracing the idea. And Trump was pushing that idea. They are blinded by their Obama hate - they would do this, even to the detriment of their constituents. On the other hand, they have been talking about repeal for seven years now and it's become such an ingrained talking point that they feel they have to do it. They are the dogs that caught the car and are in a lose-lose situation. They can back up their promises and do repeal - but then it hurts many people and they will be angry. Or they don't repeal and the base that is still salivating over getting rid of Obamacare is angry.

maybe they should actually DO SOME WORK and DISCUSS things before they start 'declaring' things publicly that will just make them look like idiots a day or two, or even an HOUR OR TWO, later... ya think? possibly do some bi-partisan discussions? Perhaps DO THEIR JOBS, even?!? they're all starting to look REALLY foolish.

OH NO, people actually doing their job and doing what is normally done for legislating? Comparing the process for the ACA and what's happening now is a joke. ACA took a year - many hearings, amendments, etc. This time around has been nothing even close.

I think that it is important to note that all three Senators are women. Perhaps they know a bit more about childhood diseases and pre-existing conditions than career-driven men. Way to go, ladies!

Something the Republicans ignore when they talk how the ACA was put together in trying to compare it to their attempts.

The really disgusting thing is that these morons will be re-elected, because people do not know how to process facts. They prefer to live in a trashy, sound-bite, catchphrase driven world. We must be the laughingstock of the globe at this point.
