I'm curious as to what kind of ink you all are using. I'm thinking that I might actually use my stamps now. What inks work best with the clear stamps and what works best for the rubber cling stamps. Where do you usually purchase your inks?

I'm a fan of Ranger Archival for things that will be watercolored, Versamark or Distress Embossing ink for embossing powder, and Distress Oxide for colors.
Stamping is fairly new to me, and a lot of what I've learned was through Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry class, so Ranger and Distress are the products I started out with. I'm sure there are lots of other great brands that have similar properties. The important thing is to keep your end use in mind, and what other products will mix with the ink, such as Copics.

I was thinking about getting the oxide inks. I'm wondering how their coverage is using with clear stamps? I didn't think I got good coverage with the distress inks. I felt it beaded. I do like the black Stazon inks, but that's pretty much the only color I really care for from them.

It's more creamy and thick, and I love the way it stamps. I always "prime" my new clear stamps by stamping with clear embossing ink first, the using Distress Ink, which helps keep the ink from beading. |

I am really liking the lawn fawn all purpose black...I think it's called jet black
Can use for copics AND water colouring and is a nice crisp black

I'm a StazOn gal for crisp clean black lines. Plus, my nose goes into happy mode when I open it... Mmm, sweet almonds!  Otherwise, I also use the following inks with my TH stamp platform: - Distress Oxide (better prints than regular Distress) - Hero Arts Bold, Shadow and Neon - Brilliance (also by Tsukineko) which tends to give nice crisp lines but needs a longer drying time than StazOn (and doesn't work well for all surfaces) - a few other StazOn colours (I particularly like their blue-green range) Don't forget that many inks perform more or less well depending on the paper you use. A good quality cardstock is your basis for good stamping.  |

The new Oxides are a mix of pigment and dye so you'll get good impressions if you stamp with them. I have been using Momento Tuxedo Black for Copics and Ranger Archival Black for watercolor, but I don't feel like either give a real crisp, deep black image. I do like Versafine Black for stamping sentiments, though. It's a great deep Black and very crisp. |

Another fan of Versafine Onyx. I use MFT Black Licorice Hybrid when using Copics.

Yet another Versafine Black Onyx fan - it's my go to ink for most things. I have Memento Tuxedo Black for Copics but agree with JustTricia about not getting a crisp, deep black image. I've been thinking about making a switch. I've heard good things about Simon Says Stamps Intense Black and now I see that Lawn Fawn has a good black for Copics. I think I'll take the plunge - thanks for the enabling!

For black I always use Versafine Onyx unless I'm colouring with copics when I break out Memento Tuxedo Black.
For coloured inks my favourites now are Altenew's crisp dye inks although I also have a reasonable range of PTI inks (because I also have a lot of the cardstock colours) and Amuse studio pigment inks.

Tim rubs archival ink over all of his new stamps... doesn't clean it off, just lets it dry, to prevent that beading |
