Thank you for the input on the Z pack. I was also wondering about the effectiveness of Z pack against bronchitis. Of course, I am also taking doxycycline but I would think that a stronger anti biotic would be necessary. Of course, I did get a second shot of rocefin. I am drinking a TON of water which does not go well with the strong cough! I do feel marginally better this morning than I did last night. DH is officially on caregiver duty all weekend and I am not doing anything but resting.

Most bronchitis is viral, and I don't think antibiotics can help that…

I am confused too! I would have rather gone to my family doctor because he is much more careful about putting me on antibiotics. Urgent care tends to throw antibiotics at everything. Now I am on them and I have to finish the entire course.

Now I am on them and I have to finish the entire course. Talk to your regular doctor. You only have to finish them if you want them to be 100% effective, but if you do not have a bacterial infection, they are not going to be effective anyway. It's not like stopping steroids early...

I'm at the ER...pneumonia it is. They're deciding whether to admit me or send me home after iv antibiotics.
My sat level is dropping as low as 88%

I get bronchitis and have broken ribs a few times from coughing. An inhaler helped me the most. Feel better!

The ER hooked me up. Rocefin antibiotic via IV, anti inflammatory via IV, two breathing treatments and a crap load of scripts for at home. The rocefin hurt going in since they could only get a 22 gauge needle in my hand. My arms had no veins available. I am a very difficult stick. My goal for the next 3-4 days is to sleep and rest.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I've had bronchitis several times and pneumonia once. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. It's miserable.

I hope you feel better soon! I'm fighting viral bronchitis now, ended up going to Urgent Care yesterday because of the fever I've had for four days. No antibiotics for me, just Tessalon pills for cough.
I hope you can beat this thing! It's no fun being sick in the summertime.

I hope you are on the mend soon! Please, don't hesitate to return to the ER or your PCP if you don't see improvement.

I feel your pain.... Neglected a cough/cold which turned into bronchitis, then pneumonia. Sickest I've ever been and coughed for weeks and weeks. Was lucky MD decided to treat me at home (I begged!) with an arsenal of prescriptions, including an inhaler. It does sound like you are on your way to recovery, hope you start feeling better quickly and can rest. It will take time, don't push yourself.

I went to bed at 9pm last night and dh just woke me up at 10:30am so I could take my meds. I slept for 13.5 hours and I do feel better this morning. My plan for today is to rest and rest and rest.

I missed my second dose of anti biotic last night. Stupid mistake. This cough is horrible. My ribs hurt from the severity of the cough. I am able to work from home most of this week which is a blessing. I am feeling so down. I should not be reading about pneumonia recovery on the internet!
