About to step onto the electronic cutter train. I would like to cut out stamped images for cards and use cut files for scrapbook pages. i am a bit tech challenged and would prefer not to fiddle too much which should I get?

I have the scan and cut...I need to learn to use it though. It can do really cool things, I just have no idea how. I've done a couple of things with it but not a lot. I'd love to take an actual class. There's lots of Youtube videos but that hasn't motivated me all that much...

I have the Cameo, but there is a learning curve with it, as I am sure with the other machine as well. Maybe try checking out some tutorials on You Tube to get a feel for them.

Scan N Cut is a breeze for cutting out stamped images, it does not take long to learn to do that, but it does much more too. Check out Julie Fei-fen Balzer tutorials on YouTube. I also have Cricut and Cameo, but Scan N Cut is by far the easiest for cutting out a stamped (or printed) image. It can cut right on the line, or allows you to select how much of a margin you want around the image.

I have my eye on the Scan n Cut. I wonder if I can use my Cricut mats in it? There is a Brother dealer down the street from me. I'm sure I can order it through them. There is a Michaels up the freeway that advertised they had them as well.

I love my Cameo. No experience with the scan and cut, but I cut out stamped images with my Cameo as well - using the Pixscan mat. The Cameo can also print and cut using registration marks.
I'd suggest watching some videos of each to get an idea about which you might prefer.

Another Cameo girl here. I love it. I don't have any exposure to the Scan 'n Cut, but there are all kinds of things you can do with the Silhouette. I am pretty adept with computer programs, and did not find the software hard to learn at all. Good luck in your decision. Best purchase I've ever made!!

Also check out the software options. You download Silhouette Studio to your computer but I believe scan and cut has an online workspace and you need to have internet access to use it.

Another cameo fan here. It took me a little long to get used to it but have never looked back once I figure out my way around it.

Oddly enough, I spent some time today working with my Scan n Cut2 and now I'm totally in love. Thanks for the push to help me dust it off! I used some SVG files and I love how they turned out.

There is a Michaels up the freeway that advertised they had them as well. Amazon sells all the scan and cut mats and stuff. I have a sillouette and a scan and cut. They are 2 different machines. Scan and cut works independently and you scan in a paper document or with the new ones you can convert files from your thumb drive. Sillouette you use your computer.

I've never used the scan n cut. But I do use the cameo for cutting out stamped images. It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it for those who want something simple, I am *not* tech challenged and I find it fussy and frustrating at times.

Although tempted at times to buy the Scan n Cut because I am a stamper, I already have a Silhouette Cameo. I finally decided to get the Pixscan mat to see if it will cut out my stamped images to my satisfaction. I have not yet tried it.
However, since you mention that you want to also use a cutter for scrapbooking, I recommend that you look at the images available for both machines. While there are many free cutting files on the internet, you may decide at some point to purchase designs. I have designed and cut many cutting files. I can create anything I want in the software, but it takes time. Sometimes it is just easier and faster to buy designs. I have a Cricut Explore Air 2 and over 100 cartridges. Although there are some Cricut designs I like, overall I prefer the designs I have bought from Silhouette. I cannot remember if I looked at the Scan n Cut designs for purchase, but I think I did when it was new. It seemed too much to pay just to cut out my stamped images. There wasn't any other particular advantage (for me) at the time. I have not ruled out buying it eventually, but I decided that it makes more sense for me to learn how to use the Pixscan mat. If it does not go well, I may look at the possibility again of buying the Scan n Cut.
