I have kind of been following the Obesity Code thread, but there is a lot of information in there, Thanks by the way. My question is, have you been following the Obesity Code and what are your results?
I want to know from real people, does this work.
Thank you.

I know there is a lot of pages to wade through but your answers are in there. People are getting good results generally.
Personally I'm not doing it 100% 'correctly' - I fast as per the book but I am not excluding sugar entirely nor am I going very low carb/high fat. I am eating a healthier version of my normal meals with an eye to the fats, sugars and carbs. I have lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks.
You do need to read the thread though because peas are talking about the good and the bad, their adaptations etc.

I did not have any results. I only need to lose 10 though. It's super easy to do but it sent my hormones into craziness so not sure this is something for me.

I haven't posted on that thread and have been following my own version of the plan. I have a lot of trouble with high fat after years and years of low fat low cal dieting. I am doing the intermittent fasting part 5-6 days a week. I am obese and have lost, gained, maintained being obese, lost, gained, etc for thirty years. I have a lot to lose. Since last fall (probably September) I've lost around 50 pounds. I've lost 35 since February. I have a friend who has jumped in whole heartedly and since early May has lost 31 pounds. She does fasts from 24-72 hours. I do not and will not fast that long. I usually do 17/7 or 18/6. And often on weekends I eat whatever I want but still lose consistently but slowly. If I was more dedicated I know I could lose more and faster but I want to live my life...and my husband is supportive but likes to go out, eat ice cream, etc and I enjoy that stuff too. I see this as a long term way of life and not a quick fix.

I'm doing keto with IF and weight loss results are inconsistent, but there are signs that my body is healing itself. I'm trying to think of it as a marathon and not a sprint.
I feel great eating this way and don't find it difficult to do after the first week.

Dr.Fung developed this way of eating for his type 2 diabetic patients who were obese. Unfortunately that description is me to a T. Tomorrow marks 10 weeks for me. My weight loss during that time is 21 lbs.
I find the fasting part incredibly easy to do. I typically do a 20/4 fast every day, drinking only water during those 20 fasting hours. I would not describe my diet as low carb, I would call it good carb. I do eat brown rice, beans, etc. in controlled portions. I did give up all artificial sweeteners and my beloved Diet Coke.
Walking is my choice of exercise. I strive for 100K+ steps per week (for me this is over 42 miles a week of walking).
I have absolutely no cravings. It's very easy to wait for my window of eating although usually I am pretty hungry when it does roll around. Just yesterday I was thinking "I wonder when it's time to eat" only to find out I had gone past my eating time.
This is the longest time I have been on a "diet" in recent history. I don't even think about going off it.

I'm doing around an 18/6 fast. I usually eat between noon and 6. I'm not super strict about times though. I just do my best. We are pretty busy, so sometimes I need to eat a little later than 6. I just try not to eat too late and no snacking until the next meal. I also cut out all refined sugars and have been staying under 40 carbs per day. I have quite a lot of weight to lose, but in the last 6 weeks I've lost 15 pounds. It hasn't been very hard for me at all, but it will get harder when school starts and we get busier. DH and I are both teachers, so it's a big change when we go back!

I just want to add that the fasting is a lot easier than many people imagine. I'd done 5:2 before so I knew it was do-able thankfully. The hunger doesn't just grow and grow, it comes and goes and when you feel it you just need to distract yourself for a few minutes, drink some more water and it passes.
And I've also literally just noticed today that I'm not craving sugar nearly as much. I was a bad snacker and I still like sugar but I've found I can limit myself to within my eating time and that works well. While I'm fasting I don't really crave it now which is amazing!!

Honestly I have been doing IF and lowish carb (trying to avoid bread and floury products but not counting carbs) since June 7th and have lost 2 lbs as of this morning. I was down 4 lbs, but went off the no breakfast part (we were camping) and gained it all back by the time we got back (5 days)...
I think I need to get stricter with the no carb part again, or find another plan. The fasting is not hard, although I get HUNGRY by the time my 18 hours is up, but it's also not working very well for me at the moment. Then again, eating low calorie hasn't worked for me either so maybe the problem is me.
Just my personal results, not dissing the idea.

I have been eating lowcarb medium/high fat for one year now and have lost little more then 60 lbs. I tend towards clean keto eating. I also quit all sodas a year ago, not even one sip since. I don't consciously fast, but I only eat when I am hungry and I find that eating this way for a year my body has fallen into a natural state of intermittent fasting. I rarely snack any more either. I don't need to nibble and when I do I find it's more due to social situations. I also have times when I feel ravenous. I eat more protein during those times and that only lasts a day or 2. I really find my body lets me know what it needs. Heck I went on vacation and ate steak, crab, shrimp, bunless burgers etc and came home to losing 2 lbs.

I have been doing 18/6 or 20/4 about five or six days a week and am very surprised at how easy fasting became for me after the first day or two. I feel like I am in better tune with my body and when it is really hungry, not just bored or eating because of a routine. I have lost 6 to 8 pounds in the past month or so. I am really thrilled with all of those things. I had been eating pretty clean the past several years and avoiding artificial sweeteners, while trying to cut back on added sugars and refined carbs, but my weight seemed to be at a higher set point that I liked. Not obese, but would really like to lose 15 pounds to be at my goal weight of 140-145. I come from a family of very obese women, lots of history of diabetes, weight related issues, and insulin resistance. I struggled with infertility and PCOS when I was younger, something that has been found to be related to insulin resistance. I am determined not to let my genes win over my long term health. As a scientist, I find that the Obesity Code book and this type of eating make so much sense to me. I am amazed at how much energy I have. I am combining it with some light weight lifting. I am determined that I will be stronger in my 50s than in my 30s! As with any way of eating or dieting, the best choice is highly individual, but IF works for me.

I am fasting 12-16 hours the vast majority of the time from mid-May when I bought the book. I am down 10 lbs and am now simply overweight, no longer obese. I am now just 25 lbs from where I should be. Somehow, for the first time in a long time, that seems like something I can manage. I am back to losing about 2 lbs a month which seemed to be my normal weight loss rate when I would try very hard to lose weight. I don't feel like I am trying terribly hard though I did eliminate sugar and have cut way back on carbs in general.
I work 7pm-7am and have found it difficult to fast while working and those are my fasting hours. Some days, I don't eat anything at all and can wait until my normal time to begin eating again afterwards. Other days, I don't eat but eat when I get home (about 13-14 hours total fasting) and still other days, I eat at work! I do bring nuts and similar snacks in case I find myself needing to eat for some reason so that I avoid the crap in the hospital! I also seem to find myself traveling at least once a month lately and that impacts my ability to fast and find appropriate foods. I am starting to get the hang of asking for menu changes. We went out to an Italian restaurant this weekend. Not my ideal choice, but I asked to replace the pasta with spinach, something I would not have done in the past.
I am making this a life style change. For me, it helps to have the science. I look at what I want to eat in terms of the insulin response. I fast 12-16 hours a day to lower my insulin levels.

It is working for me.
I do anywhere 12-16 hours fasting every day, and then I do a 24 hour fast once a week. I have cut all cokes, extra sugar and breads/pastas out. I am down 2 pants sizes and less than 10 lbs to my first goal weight (what I need to be at to not be classified as overweight. I think I can hit this goal by the end of August.
For me, this has helped me learn how to eat correctly and not just cause something is sitting on the counter. I am working out again and finding things at the gym I like to do. I am drinking water.

Thank you for the responses. I find I am so busy at work, I skip lunch, but then am starved right after work. I know I can do the fasting part, it will be a little harder for me to adjust my eating, not impossible just harder. I think I will look into it more and give it a try.
Thanks again.

I'm curious if anyone has sleep issues? I don't think I could make this work because I rarely get more than 5 hours a night. It's an ongoing problem, and no I just can't sleep more.
I try to remember to take caffeine pills and not extra sugar and pop. When you are routinely up at 1 or 2 in the morning, it's hard to cut those things out.

I started dieting in October and lost about 12 pounds by Christmas and then I gained about half of that back over the holidays. I buckled down again and was back to -15 by June when I started IF. I just hit the -30 pound mark this week. Clearly, IF works for me. I usually to 16/8, but have done longer fasts too. My meals are generally low carb, high protein, but I have pizza every Friday!

But for once I am getting atlas 8 hours of sleep where before I usually got 5 and was having to take something to finally get asleep.

I've never been a breakfast eater, so IF works for me even though I don't get more than 5 hours of sleep at a time. I typically gat 4-5 hours of sleep, get up with my son and drink my coffee with a splash of cream, pack his snack, write a note to his teacher, get him dressed, and get him on the bus, and walk the dog for 2 miles. I usually go back to bed at that point - with no more eating or drinking - for another 2 hours. By the time I wake up, it has been 17 hours since I finished dinner, so only another hour to go to make it to 18. If I had to go straight to work, without a nap, I don't think that I could realistically do IF. I think it would just be too hard. (((hugs)))
